  1. My last cruise, Feb 2020, I became a diamond status member. In 31 days, 2 1/2 years later, I finally get to enjoy the perks of diamond. So close...
  2. Central Park for it's tranquility and nighttime sounds/views.
  3. When you RoyalUp you bid on specific stateroom categories. They are offered to you at the time of bidding.
  4. It's very much a personal choice. I'm local to Seattle and am cruising on August 15th. I've been on two previous Alaskan cruises, one went without a hitch, the second we purposely went on because it went to Hubbard Glacier. A severe storm with 20+ ft waves hit and we couldn't make it to Hubbard glacier. It's still an amazing cruise and you can still see the Mendenhall glacier. Cruising the waterway is lovely but it's still worth the cruise without it in my opinion. Then again I live in Seattle and have experienced both. 🙂 Best of luck on your choice!
  5. I "won" a RoyalUp bid to a loft suite in 2019 on a cruise that was sold out. Personally I think people cancel for various reasons more than we realize.
  6. When you do the check in you have the ability to add a credit card to each passenger. Just don't add a credit card to his account and his seapass card will not able to do any purchases.
  7. I'm traveling August 15th, check in was July 1st and July 2nd I received an email for the RoyalUp program. You can go here and check for yourself https://www.royalcaribbean.com/booked/cruise-room-upgrade
  8. I haven't received any communication from RCCL on my August 15th cruise. I've had to reach out to my travel agent for clarification and he doesn't know why I'm not receiving any. Only found out because of this post.
  9. This helps take the sting out of all the missed ports and changes to the itinerary. We are on this cruise as well and were just saying the other day we wouldn't have upgraded to the suite we had for the cost of the cruise we are getting now. Still excited to go...!
  10. Great point, we've been looking at the other ports to see if anything new opens up. Right now everything is booked. We've done the Juneau Helicopter ride 10 years ago and lucked out on a beautiful day so we booked it at Skagway this time to get a different experience. We're also looking at private bookings as well but I assume we'll be competing with other cruise lines. RCCL reported an engine problem on Quantum as the reason for the reshuffling of the cruise and removal of Daws Glacier cruise day as well. Seem the ship will be on reduced engine speed.
  11. We are a little sad, it was the reason we picked this port and scheduled our helicopter excursion around this port. With all other ports the helicopter excursions are already fully booked. Also not cruising the passage greatly reduced the purpose of the trip. Can't switch to another cruise as our current room booking are fully sold out. 10 years ago we booked another cruise based on Hubbard Glacier and it got cancelled due to rough seas. So we are used to disappointment but will still make the best of it.
  12. We are on this cruise and have yet to receive any notifications from RCCL except our Sitka helicopter ride was cancelled. This is so weird. 😞
  13. Morning! We just received an excursion cancellation notice for Sitka on our Quantum of the Seas cruise August 15th. Looks like they are canceling Sitka with Ketchikan, RCCL has yet to notify us but the online system is half way through updating. Question for those this has happened to in the past: How long does it take the online reservation system to update before we can look at and book excursions at the new port? We've had port changes in the past but it has always occured while on board, not 46 days out.
  14. In my 25 years of cruising I've experienced way more adults behaving poorly than the kids. I know we're all a little rusty from the pandemic but may I suggest joining in the fun or smiling at the kids next time. You may no longer come across as an old grump 🤷‍♀️
  15. Welcome to Seattle! I live locally and will be sailing on Quantum August 15th. My travel to the port is shorter 🙂 Here's a handy link from the port authority. https://www.portseattle.org/places/smith-cove-cruise-terminal-pier-91 hope it gives you some options. Uber can also be a resource with XL and SUV options for 6 people however the challenge is usually the luggage.
  16. We booked as soon as we are ready to make a decision and our travel agent tracks any drops in prices. Last cruise (Feb 2020) we actually got two price drops and managed to upgrade a cabin. We are particular about placement on the ship so booking our exact room is always a preference.
  17. Definitely call. I believe members of your household will receive the same status as yours but only after their first cruise has been completed. I do not believe they will be Diamond on their very first cruise. This is how it happened with my husband. After his first cruise on RCCL he got upgraded to my status at that time. He's also received my cruise credits on the one's he has not joined me on and currently enjoys the Diamond status 🙂 Have fun on your cruise!
  18. I'm on Quantum August 15th and was wondering if all the entertainment shows are running on board. Thank you for sharing your trip with us!
  19. Clarification question on the vouchers, I assume these can't be used at the Bionic Bar? I read somewhere you have to ask for the voucher to be used for your free drink. My past experiences tell me the robot is not at all talkative and wouldn't listen to me 🙂
