  1. I have now done two solo cruises and many solo land holidays. I have another three cruises booked as a solo! I find travelling solo quite liberating as you have the freedom to do what you want when you want. Having said that though it's always nice, especially in the evening, to have a chat and drink with company. I think once you have done one solo cruise there will be no stopping you. Go for it!
  2. I had a disembarkation in January of 8.45 and was at Southampton train station at 9.30. A very smooth and quick process!
  3. Same here! I boarded 12.15 p.m and my case arrived after 5 p.m. I was getting a little worried when I saw everyone's cases outside their cabins and mine hadn't appeared! As I boarded early I expected it to arrive early! But all was well!
  4. Apologies, I believe it was the hop on hop off bus that was waiting!
  5. Recently visiting Barcelona the blue bus was waiting at the World Trade Center after the shuttle drop off!
  6. Is it a Jet2 flight? If so have you tried accessing via the Jet2 website?
  7. I had no problems using the app or understanding the instructions for joining the queue, leaving the queue or I am on my way! It was all very easy!
  8. Also please note I have recently come off Iona and had a wonderful cruise!
  9. Hi, I went to the Caribbean as a solo three years ago and visited all the same islands you are visiting. Was nervous about leaving the ship and using the minibuses outside but it was easy, safe and so much cheaper. I would take a trip in the morning lasting 2/3 hours so no worries about missing the ship and then on return explore locally!
  10. Mine were in the cabin on arrival.
  11. Having had recent experience I did initially feel irritated that I had to access an app for booking restaurants, shows etc. But having used it I actually found it really useful and easy to use!
  12. I appreciate we all individually have different experiences but for anyone reading this who is about to embark on Iona just to say I was on this cruise and had a fabulous time!
  13. Many of the crew were wearing masks on Iona themselves but not all of them! There should be no concerns at all!
  14. I believe you can only book at Reception, not on TV.
  15. They were compulsory on the shuttle buses as well!
  16. Your cruise card is scanned and costs added to your account.
  17. There were many people wearing face masks during the embarkation on Iona and on the ship, particularly in the lifts.
  18. Not sure which cruise you are on but having just come off the Iona there were shuttle buses at Alicante, Barcelona and Lisbon and, I believe a port provided shuttle which was payable in Gibraltar.
  19. For information there was plenty of availability to book the shows in the Headliners Theatre, whilst on board!
  20. I was on this cruise and had a fabulous time! On sea days I thought there was plenty of entertainment! Always something going on!
  21. I have just come off Iona. I have insurance via my bank Lloyd's and they provided me with a personal insurance statement confirming that I was covered for cruises and Covid! Noone asked to see it at Southampton but it is a simple request to the bank and I wouldn't take the chance and not have it!
  22. I had to ask for a box of crunchy nut cornflakes every morning. They were always behind the counter! I could only assume that they wanted you to only have the cereals they buy in bulk!
  23. There is also a pool and jacuzzi indoors, in the skydome! Have checked and children over age of 8 accompanied by an adult can use the jacuzzis.
  24. I have just come off Iona and all pools and Jacuzzis were operational and very much in use!
