How many days are you away from your cruise? We are also in Canada and hoping to hear about our medallion shipping soon - 23 days away for us.

But I still don’t understand why the reservation system has accepted and shown a table for 9 for the past 5 months, unless it’s just another quirk of the Medallion app.

There are 9 of us and I made Dine My Way reservations over 5 months ago. After some initial teething problems I was able to reserve a table for 9 at the same time, same restaurant every night. About 10 days ago I checked again and got this message “Party split across multiple tables”. I tried calling Princess and also Live Chat with no real assurance that our problem has or will be solved. I have been able to go back into the app and change the first 3 nights of our cruise as requested and confirmed initially, but after that the “Party split across multiple tables” message again for the rest of the cruise. Fellow cruisers have suggested talking to the maitre d’ on our first night, but just concerned that a table for 9 will not be available after those first 3 nights.

This seems to be hit and miss on different ships. My wife and I had a table for 2 on a Majestic Princess cruise and liked our wait staff. We asked to be seated at that same table for the rest of the cruise, and it was granted. On a Crown Princess cruise with my wife, brother & SIL the 4 of us were seated in a nice window table. We requested the same table for the rest of the cruise. We got it the 2nd night and after that they wanted to move us to other tables, even though our preferred window table was empty. We had quite a battle with the Maitre’d and restaurant manager to keep the same table. Not sure what the problem is, if the tables are empty at your reserved dining time.

Please keep us all posted, as we seem to be getting some conflicting information. Maybe the rumours of fake passports and withdrawal of the face recognition technology happened just after your cruise. The last 2 live cruise reports from the Regal have reported some pretty serious delays at both embarkation and disembarkation.

I think anyone who is boarding the Regal Princess in the next few weeks would also be interested in getting some feedback.

There are 6 of us and they can only take 4 people max. We have a ride from the airport to our hotel in Galveston the night before the cruise with Cruise Driven. Galveston Saltwater Moms actually referred Cruise Driven to us. Mackenzie from Cruise Driven has indicated she will let me know if any of her drivers will be in the area on cruise day.

No, the app sucks. There are 9 of us on the Regal New Year’s cruise. I made Dine My Way reservations 5 months ago for all 9 of us in Concerto Dining Room at 5.40 pm. Rechecked the reservation a few days ago and this what I get now “Party split across multiple tables”. A call to Princess off shore agents told me to ignore the message and just go to dining room on first night - yeah, right!!!

Is the duty free here cheaper than on the ship?

That’s too bad. It was always a great place to sit, sipping on a beverage and listening to some great piano players/singers with Billy Joel, Elton John favourites etc. It was always packed.

Can you just walk to Mahogany Beach, or do you have to pay for and ride on one of those chair lifts?

Yep, makes sense. Crooners wasn’t as open to the Piazza and their music on older ships.

Wow, this is crazy empty. Crooners was always packed with some rocking piano players on all the other Princess cruises I’ve been on. What happened?!

Please let me know how you get on. I saw a photo of a huge line up for Uber last Sunday at the port with passengers coming off the ship to go to the airports. I think there may be more ships in port now.

Going back to embarkation day - did you see anyone selling the Plus or Premium package in the Piazza or Deck 6 with tables set up? I see from your photos that you can buy it from your stateroom TV but I’m trying to save the $105 US insurance surcharge and I would rather deal with a “Live” person.

I believe Fortuna Luck is on most, if not all Princess ships. We saw her on a couple of previous Princess cruises. Same character, different dress up artiste. She ran all the Bingo sessions on our cruises and was supposed to bring you luck - and she did - I won $100 on any line.

Thanks for your reply. I know you can’t use the Plus or Premium package for alcoholic drinks out of Galveston until you are in International waters - I think 12 or 15 NM. Don’t know how long that takes. I sure hope they sell the packages onboard as it would make a saving on the insurance premiums for us.

I know it’s nearing your last day and it’s been great following along with you on your journey. Thank you so much. 9 of us will be boarding Regal Princess on Dec 27th for New Year’s cruise. First time on Regal so I enjoyed your hints and tips, and humour. One final question - on embarkation day did you see tables set up by staff in the Piazza selling the Princess Plus & Premium packages, and how busy were they? I am hoping to buy the Plus package and should save over $105 US (($142 CAN) because, if added before, it would increase my Princess Platinum Protection insurance by that amount.

So, I guess the same would apply for taxis! It’s a long walk from our hotel!

How easy is it to get a Uber from any of the Galveston Island hotels to the ship on a busy port day with 3 ships in port?

Do you know if there is any soccer shown on cabin tv channels?
