  1. I do not disagree that the PVP has a little stake in the game. My point was it was def not Carnival’s problem. It was your vacation, I get that it and it seems to have soured the remainder (outside looking in) but a half of cup of water is both half fiull and half empty. Again, sorry your cruise did not met expectations.
  2. Your point is well taken. Cruises during holiday times, esp with new cruises have issue. Now a days, all cruise lines have issues, ALL cruise lines, To suggest Carnival is an anomaly is pure folly.
  3. Great post. I think we would totally enjoy the experience. Thanks for posting your expereince.
  4. Totally agree, done it at least a dozen times.
  5. Interesting post. Cruising is booming, for all lines. Cruise ship occupancy is based based in lower berths, during times like this with a significant number higher than that, something has to give. That something could present itself in a host of ways, some of which the Op describes. That is a not a degradation of the product but an anomaly based at least partly on the number of people on the ship. This affects, CCL, RCCL, NCL and even the majestic Seaborne or Regent SS.
  6. I hear you. How are the prices on Icon compared to Carnival? Different ships, different room types, different perception. Cannot argue the perks, experienced Royals thru son in law who is Diamond plus.
  7. The area is monitored daily. Only for Havana guests and people are challenged throughout the cruise. Stayed in Havana rooms 6 times. The bar and area inside is open to all. Bar opens near 11 till 11pm. Let us know how the flawless boarding goes.
  8. I get the rationale. That said, this forum is Carnival. The Fun ships. Designed for families. Compare them to Regent is meaningless (including clientele, and oh by the way price and the niumber of people on board).
  9. Sorry you had a horrible cruise. Nobody should ever feel threatened, on a cruise ship or anywhere. I am sure you addressed it while on board. Curious as to what GS response was. Can you elaborate? Not trying to cast blame, but seems the cabin issue was all on you, did I miss something?
  10. Wow, there is a lot to process here. Thanks for the info. Do they lock up the kids at night on Regent? That way you are assured there are none roaming the halls causing harm and pestilence. Have you sailed on Carnival?
  11. Good post, I have been on 6 and witnessed none as well. Sometimes rose colored glasses makes us see what we want to see when things are not going well. Holiday week cruises with lots of kids are going to be significantly different than mid march cruises….ON ALL CRUISE LINES. Simply a fact. The other fact is Carnival IS doing things to reign on the clientele. There are threads here where cruisers feel infringed upon when they have to go thru horrific 5 minute waits while a drug dog scans carry on. Another fact is that while Carnival tries to hold the line in regards to controlled substances, society says it is fine. If you can stop along the way at a drive thru and big up something YOU KNOW the cruise line says is not allowed, then we should expect the results. To imply this a Carnival problem is either an agenda driven post or pure folly (another fact).
  12. Bashers have no sources, amazing how they pop up for the negative. Remind you of Loyal Royals, how do you spell agenda.
  13. Oasis as a ship is a amazing ship. The cruise expereince when we sailed on her, was not so amazing. If the Op is sailing for the ship and neighborhoods and more for pay options, then Oasis wins. How big the ship is simply does not cut the mustard in terms of experience. Degrdation of potential ports visted, no tender ports, etc etc…
  14. I never bought in to the the “common space on a cruise ship” is a significant add.
  15. Funny, I thought the same thing of the crew that bashes. They simply cannot stand a positive thread. This is one that should bring happiness to all that sail on Carnival. Just mho tho, yours may vary. For the record what does the post I am replying to have to do with the thread Rhetorical question.
  16. I would agree that consumers speak with their wallets. The rest, not so much. Based on sales and bookings, the vast majority of cruisers think they are doing the right thing.
  17. Some feel the need to bring blame and criticism regardless of the topic. As you say, it is complex and they are forced to do things financially bases on the circumstances they find themselves in (mot of their own doing I might add). Publicly traded companies HAVE to follow the mantra of what is best for the stockholders and balance that with doing the best for their clients. Frankly, I think they have done an outstanding job.
  18. A menu of available items you (all of us that attain the level) can select from is a real benefit. How they deploy it is somewhat harder.
  19. Depends on the reason for the changes to the program. If it is as some suggest the herd is to big (and I think that is def true), then one of two things need to occur. They can add a new level (as you suggest) and leave the existing levels alone and move the benefits (and/or add some at the highest level). This would thin the herd. Or take the Disney (et al) plan but make it significantly harder. Instead of 5 years, make it 2 (no idea on how they could do this) so that unless cruisers maintain their level of cruising the loyalty perks disappear or diminish. The other option might be changing the attainment, instead of days cruised it adds another variable like room type, cost etc as other lines do. That would be the most difficult. Many here would argue that if you spend more (costs of suites, etc) you deserve more (loyalty perks). The variations are many, but much of it is easier said than done.
