Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. Does Princess have somebody doing commentary as the ships go through the locks?
  2. I hope they know how to make a good chocolate chip cookie.
  3. Don't forget that you can get just about any egg preparation, pancakes, french toast, etc., by asking the Terrace attendants in the morning. As I was enjoying my pancakes on one of the last days of a recent cruise, a lady asked me where I got them. She didn't know you could order them.
  4. Leave it in the laundry room with a note "To a good home." BTW, I asked one of our stewards a couple of cruised ago if they wanted it. Their response was yes, but getting caught with anything like that is a termination offence. So, they can take it and put back in stock.
  5. The ceremony was nothing like what it was in the US Navy back in the 70s/early 80's.
  6. Actually, he was on the list. But hey misspelled his name, so he's gets to stick around. 😉
  7. I have one and couldn't. Here's the extract from our blog: The first is there are 23 unlabeled light switches spread out across 6 banks in the living room and that doesn’t include the pull chains or floor switches on the lamps. After a month in this room, I’m still not sure what they all do since some are dimmers, some are 3-way, some are for outlets, and some are plain on/off. We have lamps, art spot lights, under counter lights, veranda lights (that are also controlled by the bridge so they won’t turn on at night when the ship is moving), hallway and bathroom lights, a light over the dining table, and a LED strip that runs around the edge of the room. Why do you need all these lights?!
  8. One of the more humorous things is the "Princess Premier" package includes two speciality dinners per cruise. So, yep, that's two for the entire trip be it one week or 110 days. At least Oceania adjusts the number based on the length of the trip. So far, the only thing that I've found that Princess offers is much better chocolate cookies and pizza. 😉
  9. The biggest issue will be timing. There is a single pipe that everybody shares, so the number of other people and what they are doing is the key determinant on your bandwidth. There were times when I could stream a movie with no problems. Other times Mail would timeout sending a simple text email. While I was able to do work (download/upload documents, access shared drives) at times it was really painful. I wouldn't try to schedule any interactive sessions unless you are doing it in the middle of the night. The enhanced internet just opens up ports, it doesn't give you any more bandwidth.
