  1. Yeah, that cold virus! What a genius! It’s been around since the beginning of time and we haven’t eradicated it yet. And people die from colds every year! And several other viruses that have also been around since the beginning of time. It’s amazing that mankind is still here.
  2. Ty, I haven’t taken the test yet as our cruise isn’t until October 1st. However, my understanding is that it does not need to be a monitored, it can be one of the home tests that you photograph and show the people at check in. This is in accordance with the requirements as published on the Princess website on September 6th.
  3. I called my TA this morning. She had never heard of what I was talking about. So she called Princess. She called me back a little while ago and told me the reason for the “vaccination required” acknowledgement on the personalizer: It’s supposed to mean that Princess knows we, as unvaccinated filth, need to take the test within 3 days of cruising and provide a negative result. That’s it. FWIW, I just checked the personalizer and the original “vaccination required” thing I was supposed to click has been replaced with the “negative test within 3 days” thing. So I guess I’m clear to proceed.
  4. Then I still wonder. I’m not vaccinated; I thought it went without saying. Your Mexican cruise not having the same warning as the California one is puzzling. Oh well, TA tomorrow.
  5. My notice says “VACCINATION”. It does NOT say “testing”. And we are NOT on an enhanced cruise for which the Sep 14th restrictions apply.
  6. Princesses’ own Covid page, which was updated September 6 of this year, doesn’t hold the same requirements. According to their page, we are good to go but this prohibition from going into our booking until we acknowledge that we are to be fully vaccinated is still problematic. I am awaiting a callback (snicker).
  7. Actually, it’s not consistent at all inasmuch as the wording of the advisement says “full vaccinations” are required. Thus my confusion.
  8. We just got our cabin assigned to us today and I went to the Princess website to perhaps view the cabin and I was confronted with the following announcement before I was allowed to continue into the Princess website: “Please be advised that guests five years and older on this voyage are required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and meet the following requirements…“ Since we are on the Discovery on October 1 out of Los Angeles for a seven day cruise up the coast of California, this announcement is somewhat puzzling. Anybody have any ideas?
  9. We’re in SLO and plan on taking the Surfliner for all our cruises out of LA and SD. For that matter, we’re also going to take the Coast Starlight north, get off in Oakland (or Emeryville, can’t remember which), and go to the hotel in San Fran for our trips out of there.
  10. There’s only one way to ensure you don’t get covid on a cruise ship…
  11. Along with the fans. And the bowing and scraping. Gotta show those trained parrots who's boss.
  12. As far as I know, until recently, it was 10% of ALL pax, including kids who were not required to be vaccinated in the first place, who could put in for an exception letter. Then it went to 25%. And while all that was being sorted out, it became what we have today. I'm not sure exactly WHEN we, as the unclean, could have put in like your "two friends". Of course, we won't travel to the east coast until we've run out of places to go out west so we'll probably hit your neck of the woods around April next or thereabouts. In case you want to leave. Anyway, I don't want to wear a mask and you do and make everyone else do the same. And never the twain shall meet.
  13. Yes, which makes me wonder why so many people here insist on cruising who would seem by their pronouncements to be more comfortable at home rather than dictating to us who really can't wait to get back.
  14. “Trained parrots” that cook you good meals, steward your wine, tend your bars, make up your room, provide you food service in your room, and man every job you’re likely to encounter in a small city. Pretty good for a parrot.
  15. Wow. I don’t know that I’d use vacation services that lied to me every time I asked when I’d asked the same question every time.
  16. Yes, off a cruise ship... hmmm... common thread, here.
  17. That's not a very popular view on cruise critic.
  18. Because they can and have gotten away with it for a couple of years.
