  1. Not how it works. Probably a 100% penalty to cancel air. To the OP - you could call NCL, you do have a case if your docs say a 2 day deviation. You might get them to change, although don't count on it.
  2. Another option is to book through the NCL site and transfer the booking to a TA. I think you have 15 days to make the transfer. There's a form you have to send to NCL.
  3. Really no different than any other tourist attraction/point of Interest in any other part of the world. Plenty of non-Americans also take that same excursion - and yes, I did it when I visited GSC. And the pigs I saw were well cared for and more than happy to partake in the treats they were given. Some loved the attention, others were in it just for the fruit snacks but all in all, probably a much better life than their cousins raised on a farm. The caretakers were well informed and went into details about the pigs.
  4. Makes no difference what the "required" deposit is, you can use them as payment any time. NCL considers any payments (US bookings) to be a refundable deposit. And if they happen to run a double up promo before your final payment due date, you can usually just go to your account and make a payment using a CN.
  5. I'd consider that a nope on the $2. Just got to Argentina and was the approached by the bartender and asked if $2 bills are legal - they had one and their bank wouldn't accept it. So I bought it from him, the exchange probably made him happier than the original tip!
  6. I often mention my complete lack-of-interest in many of the perks when I do a post-cruise survey. Allergic to strawberries. I also don't drink, also allergies, so the wine and wine tasting is always a no. I do take NCL excursions so the discount is good but means I have no need for priority tenders. I've mentioned many times that choices would be nice, at least with respect to the welcome strawberries. Wouldn't cost them anything. So far I've not been on a cruise that had the dinners and tours - I was happy with the OBC they were giving out but they stopped that as soon as they brought back the wine tasting.
  7. For future reference, one of the best ways I've found to see if I can get a better deal is to just do a mock booking. Easy to do and you will see the prices and perks that you would get if you re-book. No waiting on hold, no waiting for a callback, no "oops" moments when the perk you wanted falls off or changes. While I'm not usually a proponent of creating extra bookings, this is on NCL for not showing exactly what you are getting at the time you book. And you preserve that "new" booking for a couple of days if prices or perks change the next day - your original reservation can easily be moved if necessary. Note - speaking for cruises booked in the US, prior to final payment.
  8. I go online and pick my seats as soon as I can. Sometimes I pay for the privilege, sometimes I don't. NCL doesn't assign seats, they book tickets and it's up yo you to go to the airline and pick your seats, add your travel info, etc. Just like anyone else who books their own. I totally agree - unless I'm offered a better seat I'm keeping what I chose!
  9. After my non-so-good luck with damaged suitcases on trips, I now go to the local thrift store and for $10-15 on average I can find something that will get me through a few more cruises before it gets destroyed or worn out (I prefer soft-sided) and I throw it out. I have quite an eclectic collection at the moment - fluorescent orange or blue, pink pokadots or camouflage, and then some with animal prints (zebra and leopard). Took the zebra stripes to SoAfrica, thought that was appropriate. I think living near a college town might have something to do with the available choices. Only problem is that I usually take a 24-26" suitcase so it sometimes gets hidden behind the taller ones.
  10. Also while onboard the NCL website often reverts to the country providing web services. So if in Europe you may get prices (and available perks) in Euros for example. But somehow the CN desk has access to US (and I assume everywhere else) pricing - yet they have to go through the main office to actually book something - go figure. And I have yet to find a workaround....maybe Starlink will do better???
  11. Don't worry about it, b&w is fine. Color designates ship so not important
  12. Just keep in mind that you always have the option to rebook (US bookings) until final payment, so any existing reservation can be made "new" if the new terms are better. Much less complicated for everyone involved to just override a policy if it benefits the consumer. Or perhaps their definition of "new" simply means not past final payment. In any event, it's allowed.
  13. I've never not been able to use CNs on existing reservations, been doing it for years. I've even been onboard and had the CN folks look at all my reservations to make sure I'd applied as many as possible if there's a special at the time. As far as I know, you should receive BA perks (additional FAS meal) if you upgrade using points but your meal perks don't change if you get a bid upgrade.
  14. Currently it's any room. They have it posted differently, depending on which site you view. CN site says any, promo site says balcony & above.
  15. Sounds like someone needs to borrow a tender (aka lifeboat) and make a Costco run. I know there's Costco in Sydney but maybe there's one closer😆
  16. I never said new. Any payment made prior to final booking is considered a deposit, as it if fully refundable (US bookings). You should be able to add 2 if your booking meets the criteria. Note, from past experience, you might have to make 2 "payments". I think they've fixed that issue but just in case.
  17. Don't know where you shop but that would be a big NO most of the time in my experience. First item rings up at full price. If there is a 2nd item, it's free. If you want to buy 1 cruise next certificate, it's $150, not half off. Might smell fishy but it's still good for saving money on future cruises. Saving $250 on a cruise (use 2) isn't something I'm gonna pass on because I don't like someone's marketing campaign.
  18. You do not have to take their transportation but it is usually added (for a fee) if you book with BOGO, removed (and credited) if you request a deviation. Window of time for flight cancellation with full refund is 120 days (final payment).
  19. NCL will usually tell you what you NEED to take ashore - most of the time that's your ship card and some sort of ID. But I have been to a few ports that require a passport, so always check the Freestyle Daily and listen to the announcements. I was on the bus back to the ship once and there was a passenger without his passport. He had to get off the bus and wait at the port entrance until his roommate went to the ship, got the passport and brought it back.
  20. I always take a camera but it also depends on your destination, your phone and your camera. I feel somewhat lost without a telephoto lens, so I've never not taken a camera on a cruise. I'm always looking for wildlife, so I schlep my "big" camera -think Canon with 285 telephoto lens until recently (upgraded to Lumix with auto 600x telephoto, same size/weight) on wildlife/scenic cruises. For non-wildlife locations, I have a smaller Canon that I usually take - easily fits in a fanny pack and takes reasonable pictures, small and lightweight. It sometimes just stays on the ship - but I also take a lot of sunrise/sunset pictures, so it comes along. For city tours, I often just take my phone - it works fine for historical sights, etc. Not a stay on the beach person, so I can't really address what to do while swimming. If you take an excursion, you can normally leave stuff on the bus. Whatever you do, be aware of your surroundings. Cameras and phones are prime targets for grab and run - no matter where you are traveling.
  21. NO!!!!!!!! Cruise next can ONLY be used as a deposit toward cruise fare. Read my response #2. Most of the answers in this thread are assuming that you bought onboard - and even then the answer is NO. You aren't getting any extra money to spend onboard.
  22. Just like many people do not realize that you've already spent the so-called obc as an offset to the price of the CNs. There is no obc that needs to be spent.
  23. CruiseNext can only be used for deposits on cruise fare. So no.
  24. I think I was only on a waitlist once - and got the excursion when they added another bus. But obviously adding capacity isn't always possible. If there is an excursion you want, I'd suggest you continue to monitor the website to see if it comes back, either because of a cancellation or the addition of more spaces. Unfortunately, if you book something as a backup plan, you aren't able to see anything that conflicts. I've also had the shoreside excursion people tell me to keep calling - I don't know how often the website updates. And you never know, if people keep calling it might trigger adding more seats. Otherwise, all you can do is get on a waitlist once onboard. Pretty sure I made someone's day on my last cruise when I cancelled a very popular excursion.
  25. When I used a TA, they sent me a check after the cruise. My payments were always to NCL for the amount on the invoice, but made by the TA on my behalf. So CC statement listed NCL as the recipient.
