  1. You will either go outside and brave the elements as is, or run to your cabin and grab your parka. Even better, go outside brave the elements while Lovie runs to cabin for parkas. 😃
  2. Positive news! Can you expand on where they landed? This is a vendor website so I cannot vouch for the accuracy. https://gov.gs/visitor-sites/ Landing site status Updated 30th November 2023 Over half of South Georgia's landing sites remain fully accessible to visitors, including the spectacular king penguin colony at Fortuna Bay. The following sites are closed for landings for the 2023/24 season, with zodiac cruises permitted: Royal Bay (Moltke Harbour), St Andrews Bay, Cooper Bay The following sites are all temporarily closed for landings, with zodiac cruises permitted: Gold Harbour, Elsehul, Right Whale Bay, Salisbury Plain, Ocean Harbour, Husvik The following sites remain open for landings on a restricted basis: Grytviken (including Shackleton's grave, the South Georgia Museum and Norwegian Church) Another web site I found while going down the rabbit hole which lists the 49 approved landing sites in South Georgia. https://gov.gs/visitor-sites/
  3. FWIW, our friends stayed at Ca' Segredo and enjoyed it. Got a Virtuoso upgrade to a canal room.
  4. Just trying to get a grip on accurate info. I read the below quote from the Swoop website "fully accessible " to mean landings. Do you have other info or interpret it differently?
  5. Circling back to report on The Londra. Venice was lovely but crowded. We thoroughly enjoyed The Londra. Great location. We had rooms with small balconies overlooking the canal which were charming and well appointed. Wifi and water pressure worked well. The outstanding part was staff. Service, service, service! They helped us with excellent dinner reservations, last minute guides, and transfers. Breakfast was very good and the evening restaurant was delicious. Thank all for your suggestions.
  6. Here's what the website says: Over half of South Georgia's landing sites remain fully accessible to visitors, including the spectacular king penguin colony at Fortuna Bay. The following sites are closed for landings for the 2023/24 season, with zodiac cruises permitted: Royal Bay (Moltke Harbour), St Andrews Bay, Cooper Bay The following sites are all temporarily closed for landings, with zodiac cruises permitted: Gold Harbour, Elsehul, Right Whale Bay, Salisbury Plain, Ocean Harbour, Husvik The following sites remain open for landings on a restricted basis: Grytviken (including Shackleton's grave, the South Georgia Museum and Norwegian Church) So the questions are: Will Expeditions avail themselves to the landing sites that are available? What is at the available landing sites?
  7. I cannot verify the accuracy of this website, but it appears there are many landing sites available. Fingers crossed. https://www.swoop-antarctica.com/cruises/south-georgia/avian-flu
  8. I have hundreds of screenshots of things I've forgotten about.😉 Do they have smell-o-vision? 😄
  9. I also tie a bright ribbon on each bag. Helps them to stand out in the frey.
  10. SILVER SPIRIT SIGNATURE COCKTAIL 2 oz Plymouth gin 2 oz St Germain elderflower liqueur 1.5 oz New Zealand sauvignon blanc 1/2 oz freshly squeezed lime juice Combine all ingredients in a cocktail shaker half filled with ice cubes. Shake until very chilled; serve straight up in martini glass with wedge of lime. Guess what I'm having tonight?
  11. In my mind my dietary preferences are light and healthy. My stomach begs to differ.😃
  12. Well....the Gold Bugs must be doing a Happy Dance and drinking to Powell tonight. Or at least drinking to what the market thought about Powells remarks. Do we finally break out above that brick wall and fulfill the technical prediction to 2200? Bueller, Bueller, Stumblefoot, anyone? Technicals put the Tens under 4%. Should push Gold. Saw this interesting data a few weeks ago. Still lots of cash on the sidelines. Plenty for more cruises and leisure travel. Thanks Terry for all the Cruise Stock info!
  13. Thanks for sharing your fantastic video. That Orca pod - insane! Hear hear.
  14. You're thinking of the Blood Bites and Dark Sites tours in Romania.
  15. It may be a cost cutting measure, but I suspect it's a response to current dietary preferences. Good vege dishes can be more expensive and labor intensive. Note I said "can be". 😃 I love meat, but find myself eating less of it. Plant based diets with a smaller animal protein are becoming more prevalent.
  16. There is not enough room in Colonnade to handle the passengers load, especially when weather is not cooperating. Therefore The Restaurant should be open to serve people who would like to eat in a timely and more importantly a civilized manner. If they want to be a Luxury Line, then be a Luxury Line.
  17. Beggars can't be choosy. Besides, the Tributes are sometimes better than the original.😃
  18. We loved the hotel, just not the noise! Very historic, and the Grand Cafe, yum. Just ask for an interior room or one on the side away from square, although that one did get some street noise. There was a Sport Outlet across the street that had some great stuff. Perfect for Scandinavian weather.
  19. Good to hear. Yes, the outside area is lovely on all the ships, inside still has that awful cafeteria feel. Perhaps the right designer can find a subtle fix for that in the evening. Lighting, tablecloths, etc. The food....much harder until staffing levels return. On our last trip, the buffet food was never warm unless you waited for a fresh load. Ordering was a nightmare due to staffing issues. Indian market which is usually a nice diversion was mediocre. Every dish was lukewarm and tasted of the same spice mixture. Thai night was decent. TK nights, used to be a well attended highlight. Same poor execution. How about going back the well executed theme nights, not leftovers form last nights Restaurant menu? We were lucky enough to have Chef Pia on all 3 Silversea expeditions last year. Granted smaller ships, less people, a more adventurous crowd but she delivers every day. Menus always had an interesting ethnic dish. Vegetarian dishes were more than some tart with canned veges and cheese. I commented one day that she even made my Turkey wrap taste like it had it's own Michelien star. In short, how about some flavor, varried cuisine and a few more vegetables. Enough with the old model of protein, starch, and sauce. Thanks again for all your posts! You own wit and humor on this site.😃
  20. Thanks for sharing this information. Very positive news. During our recent 3 weeks on Encore, the only place with decent food was Earth and Ocean. Often quite delicious. Kudos to Tony Eggars. Give that man more power and a raise. Although time to loose the ridiculous smoked chicken. It is a time sink for overworked staff. Colonnade was at best a hospital cafeteria. And that's an insult to hospital cafeterias. The Restaurant was so bad we sometimes got 'take away' from onshore and asked them to serve it.😃 We did not have the confidence in the kitchen to ask for special requests.
  21. Thanks M. Yes, amazing video. And thank Lola for reposting. OK, I need a time out - or more gin in the water cooler. I thought it was somewhere on the Live from Venture Voyage Tracker Blog. Couldn't figure out the page 3 post 58. Should have been my clue. Also fun to follow, don't forget to hit the Hamburger in the upper left. https://www.seabourn.com/en/us/experience/voyagetracker/index.html
