  1. We always select anytime dining and immediately make our reservations using the app. This way we can take into account port times, excursions, etc and vary our time slightly depending on the day. We also check the menus a couple of weeks before the cruise, and if we don’t really like any of the choices, we’ll cancel our reservation and go to the buffet that night. This gives us a lot more flexibility and assurance we’ll enjoy our dinner each night.
  2. We booked our Nov 2024 New Zealand cruise very early because the category of cabin we wanted seems to always sell out quickly. If you’re like us, booking sooner rather than later for any cruise is important, but if you’re going for one of the more plentiful categories, you can pretty much book whenever you’re ready. Also, prices for our cruise already went up about $400 from when we booked.
  3. I had exactly this situation on our AK cruise in May. I gave myself the injection in our cabin and simply walked down to the medical center and asked them to dispose of the syringe. It was no big deal and literally took 2 min.
  4. We have a November 2024 cruise booked and can make specialty dining reservations either with the app or on Celebrity’s website.
  5. We had 11271 on Edge and it was glorious! Quiet inside the cabin for sure, but sometimes you could hear the Sunset Bar if people were having a particularly good time. Normal bar noises weren’t heard at all.
  6. We were invited on Millennium last week, so it’s definitely still happening.
  7. IMO it seems that the embarkation day concierge lunch is continuing to happen. Changes to that practice appear to be the exception, and linked to later departures. At least that’s what it seems from this discussion.
  8. The train was an option for our cruise last week from Seward to Anchorage. Glad it’s an option for you now, however with that much time before your flight, I would have booked a bus tour to stop at the Alaska Wildlife Center. ACT runs a good tour that won’t break the bank
  9. We really enjoyed the different MDRs on Edge, rotating which one we went to each night. We liked the different decor and it didn’t feel monotonous like the traditional MDR can sometime feel.
  10. We booked our next cruise onboard last week and not only did we get a better price (by $200), we got a bit more onboard credit ($50) and the $200 deposit. We obviously thought it was well worth it. You can also transfer the booking to your TA if you want. There’s no risk in checking it out while onboard.
  11. One thing is for sure we saw very few trays outside of rooms in our cruise last week, especially in comparison to previous cruises. Since we have rarely ordered room service, the fee doesn’t bother me.
  12. We were offered this service last week on Millennium. It was $60 for everything you could stuff in the smallish laundry bag. We did not take advantage, but are planning to do it on our two upcoming cruises are they are 12 and 13 nights long and it’ll be easier than packing more clothes.
  13. I always make reservations so I know I’ll be able to dine when I want. On our recent Millennium cruise (last wee) there was anywhere from a 2 min wait to over an hour for those without reservations.
  14. That’s going to be very subjective. Eating at Blu and access to the thermal suites aren’t important to me, so I wouldn’t bother. But if they’re important or desirable to you, bid what you think they’re worth. Remember you only get the amenities of the MoveUp cabin, not the perks.
  15. We just got off the Millennium Northbound cruise (today) and we had the concierge class lunch on embarkation day last week.
  16. When the tiers were first created there was actually one called the “Founders” tier.
  17. We sail on Friday and were just notified today of our successful MoveUp bid.
  18. My avatar is of her sister ship, Infinity in Haines in August 2002 after we hit a storm and couldn’t get into Skagway. Looking forward to sailing on Millennium and actually seeing Skagway!
  19. I’m always glad there are so many different choices so people can find the right cruise line to meet their needs/wants. We have friends who only cruise with Carnival and don’t understand our preference for Celebrity. I always respond that I don’t understand their preference for Carnival, and we have a good laugh together.
  20. We couldn’t justify a drink package for our upcoming cruise since both of us would have had to purchase it and I don’t drink much alcohol and zero coffee or soda. However, my DH loves his coffee and sodas, so we bought him a zero proof package since it wasn’t required that I have to buy one as well.
  21. That’s the point….you can sit in the huge window and enjoy the view without opening it. Same for cold or rain. It gives you the choice without giving up the view.
  22. I think they’re great for hot/humid or cooler cruises. Summer cruises in the Med and Caribbean can be very hot and humid, and Alaska can often be too chilly or wet to sit outside. Having a huge picture window that can be opened sounds lovely to me in these two scenarios.
  23. My understanding is that not all docks can accommodate the larger vessels. I’ve specifically heard that the Ore Dock can’t handle the bigger ships, which is why a ship the size of Millennium is assigned there.
  24. I believe whether your ship will be affected depends on their assigned berth. I’ve heard only ships scheduled for the railroad dock will be affected, but those assigned to the Ore or Broadway docks shouldn’t be affected. We’re on the Celebrity Millennium at the end of May and scheduled for the Ore Dock, so hopeful we won’t miss the port.
  25. We did it on Edge in 2020 (right before COVID) and really enjoyed it. We’re on Millennium in May and considered it again since it’s a different show, but we don’t really like the menu choices so will pass this time. I agree it’s worth doing at least once.
