NCL Promo Code list - Past and present
Broons77 replied to WillCruiseForMoney's topic in Norwegian Cruise Line
So this was odd. Called in to straighten out the Latitude account for DW as she had 2 numbers that never merged and spoke to a very helpful rep who got things squared away for us. She asked if I wanted an updated confirm for our upcoming cruise and I said sure. I noticed that the promo code list looked a bit longer and saw that DINMEAL is now showing in the list. I'm kind of confused as I purchased the 2 meal FAS upgrade several days ago which added the FASUDP promo code to the list and that code is still showing in this new list as well. What exactly is the DINMEAL promo code? Is that the full dining package? Totally confused, booked this on line, with no TA involved or anything. I'll take whatever dining package they want to give me, just not sure what this is. -
I understand your point, and don't disagree with it at all. My only overseas trip was to Italy, and I enjoyed all of it, even if I wasn't a fan of the taste of everything. But this cruise is to Maine and St. John's and I live in MA, so the international flair of this trip is one that I can recreate in my living room with a lobster for dinner and a hockey game on TV. So I'll just go tor the trifecta and bring myself some light cream for my Windjammer mud ☕😄

Review of Serenade of the Seas Oct 2023
Broons77 replied to itsanita's topic in Royal Caribbean International
Ditto from me, I'm on the 5 day that leaves on the 29th and this was a great overview of what to expect. I have a few other first timers traveling with us, so I may try talking the group into just hitting the Windjammer for dinner instead of dealing with the night 1 madness in the MDR. -
Glad it helped. This board has answered just about every cruising question I've ever had and a thousand questions I hadn't thought of. I'm going the quart in the cooler route. My add in of choice is light cream, which is difficult to find packaged in the little cups unfortunately. I'm betting I'll be getting some jealous stares when I bust that out at breakfast and after dinner.

Never heard that tip before, I am going to try it, thanks!
-
I would plan for the worst and bring my own. Based on replies here and on the other thread I mentioned, it seems like a crapshoot as to what you'll get
-
I absolutely can, I had a relative at Christmas try to slip me a cup with H&H and I didn't even need to drink it, I could tell by how it looked.
-
Glad I asked, thanks folks. Perhaps if word gets around that some to the pax are having to resort to stuff like this, they'll slow down with these nibbling little cuts. Probably not but one can dream.

I've never had luck getting actual cream for my coffee on board, either I've been told that they don't have any or they bring over half and half and it turns into a Monty Python sketch where I say 'this isn't cream, it's half and half' and they say 'no sir, that's cream', and on it goes... Back in the summer, there were posts flying about that people were having problems getting even half and half for the coffee. The same sketch happened but this time crew were trying to pass off milk (but when pressed most would admit that they were out.) Seems that this was some sort of supply chain issue as I haven't seen mention of this in some time. I have a small lunch box cooler that keeps cold for days. Was thinking of bringing a container of cream in it for my upcoming 5 day. Would I get swarmed by security for such an attempt if I tried to bring it through as a carry on item? I pray this doesn't devolve into an argument over the 'correct' ways to drink coffee but am prepared for the worst... ☕

Yes you can update it, and no it won't change your time. Frankly, you don't really need to update it - no one is going to deny you boarding because you presented a valid passport over a birth certificate/driver's license. We're actually in the same boat, a member of my group sailing at the end of the month is still waiting on her renewal. Fingers crossed!

I've got a question related to this. Do you do check in for someone that you know won't be going? Have a friend that can't go, we found a replacement and added them to the booking with the plan of the original pax just be a no show. Check in is open for the sailing, the replacement pax is all checked in. Pretty sure it won't matter, just curious if they'd say anything when checking in at the port.

Arriving at Boston port early for check in
Broons77 replied to betmust's topic in Royal Caribbean International
Sailed out of Boston twice last year, Port will be open to debark the arriving passengers, you'll just have to wait for the ship to open for embarkation. We'll be sailing at the end of October on Serenade, can't wait! Enjoy your turn!!!! -
Thank you! So you boarded down by the Atrium and RBar?
-
Once again we sail on the same ship, albeit I'm a month removed from you this time. Enjoy your cruise, hope you get to spend some time in Boston at the end!
-
As @Sunshine3601 said, there will be assistance at the pier to get onboard, you just need to ask a worker upon arrival. We've used this both in Boston and Bayonne with no issue. Hi! Hope you're doing well and cruising as much as possible! 🛳️

Cruising on Serenade in October and mom and her friend are coming along who both can only walk short distances. We have scooters rented, but they won't be available until rooms open. They are both getting boarding assistance, but as I understand it, this involves simply wheeling them on board, they won't take you to someplace specific as far as I know. Where will we be getting on board? Looks like deck 5 but want to try to confirm. Also, if anyone has used boarding assistance on Serenade, would love to hear any details you could share. TIA!

Primary Change After Final Payment?
Broons77 replied to Broons77's topic in Royal Caribbean International
That's a good thought. Ideally, I'd like to bring along DW's cousin along with us so I may add her. It would be the PCA that would then be a no show. This is why I come here first and save myself the frustration of dealing with the phone reps! -
Pretty sure the answer here is a big fat no but hoping against hope. DW and I are booked for a Canada cruise the end of October. DW is disabled so I also have a second cabin that I booked as a solo for her PCA. Final Payment was 2 days ago and as Murphy's Law dictates, the PCA found out yesterday that she would be unable to go with us due to a family issue. Any recourse aside from cancelling now and grabbing the 75% back per the cancellation schedule? Will they allow a change to the primary pax? Just wondering if anyone has had experience with a change like this. I'm not optimistic but want to ask the question anyway. Thanks for any guidance!

We stayed in one of these for a Canada/NE out of Boston last year on Voyager and had the same experience. Thankfully the fog cleared once we were in open water between ports so the horn didn't go all night long, but it did go late into the night a couple of times and was literally room shakingly loud. I believe there were 4 cabins on Voyager with a similar layout and at least one was a suite category, others were spacious, ours was configured to be accessible. Would not hesitate to book the room again for a warm weather cruise, but caveat emptor if you're going somewhere sketchy weatherwise.

Very large party Dining reservations
Broons77 replied to Bklynbill's topic in Royal Caribbean International
How can I make Group Reservations for activity, spa, dining and shore excursions? | Royal Caribbean Cruises Above is the link from the RC website, but nothing special in the instructions - either call them or book through the cruise planner. You can give it a go on the cruise planner if you can link up the reservations to yours, but not sure if it will allow for that many. I'd give them a call and see if they can assist but even if they set things up and tell you you're good to go, I'd also make sure to get with one of the dining folks as soon as you board to make sure. Good luck! -
Live from Pearl Boston to beautiful Bermuda 04/07-04/14
Broons77 replied to styles27's topic in Norwegian Cruise Line
Enjoy your trip! Hope you have a smoother trip than we had last week. I loved the Pearl last year and hope to get on her again, please have a burger for me at the late night buffet! 😄 -
They'll get on that just as soon as they get the pool deck chair hogs under control 😂 @JGmf & @Sugar Magnolia (sweet handle!) have it right. It's the whiners that are posting nonsense about not being able to do this, that and the other. The buffet was popular and busier than I've seen it on other cruises, But like every other ship I've ever been on, if you avoid peak times, you'll get a seat and likewise with Indulge. My only issue was that when using the overflow in Food Republic, not only was the door heavy, but there was a lip sticking up from the threshold and I almost tripped about 3 times. So watch your step! The pictures and discussion on the tablets at Indulge jogged my memory. During the Meet & Greet, the GM Nelson was discussing things that they had learned from Prima that they would be tweaking on Viva and he noted that they would have tablets on the tables outside the food hall. But now that I think of it, I don't know that he said anything about adding them to Prima. May have been a weather thing? Regardless, complaints about access to food on a cruise ship never fail to amaze me. Complaining about quality is fair game and can be an enjoyable hobby when done correctly, Saying you couldn't find a meal? Ludicrous.
