  1. I take your point, but the Princess people producing this show are trying to attract NEW and young cruisers. That's why they are using young performers. The show is not a good idea, IMO, but it's what Princess is doing.
  2. You might be surprised to learn that there are still people who don't use smart phones. Maybe you should get out more. 😉
  3. Or Guy's Burgers. Oh wait, that's my first stop on Carnival! 😉 I don't think the square footage in the Internet Cafe is enough for much more than what's there now.
  4. I've done both, but the Manhattan one was so much better. It was right there in NYC, walking distance to everything. I think there was some problem at Brooklyn which is why we did the other one.
  5. But the 60+ demographic is not what they are trying to attract. They hope to replace them with young people. I think that's the whole point of the show.
  6. Again, sorry for the confusion. You are a good and noble person to support the elder folk. No need to keep this going.
  7. I was not directing my remarks to you. Sorry for the confusion. Many others are, indeed, supporting the OP, but some are not.
  8. This is painfully obvious. Venting is healthy. I suggested earlier a solution for those who do not want to brook naysayers.
  9. This thread is a month old. I guess after trying to get help from Princes for a month, he decided to post again. These people are an elderly couple with 80+ cruises on Princess, and for them to expect the same courtesy after the pause as before does not seem unreasonable to me. Sadly, many posters on this forum feel the need to scold and/or belittle the older folk when they complain. Are harsh words and impatience going to make them "get with the program already?" This OP can't win: he is scolded on this thread for complaining, and then he is scolded on the newer thread for not complaining before.
  10. Do we know he didn't? Scolding elder folk seems to be the fad right now.
  11. I am very perceptive that way. I thank you for all your advice, but I think I'll continue to express my disappointment with Princess. Should anyone find that a problem, I would encourage them to ignore me. I have certainly made use of the Ignore User function myself.
  12. Thinking outside the box, over the curb, into the gutter and out to sea? I would imagine they thought about all of this before they began with the Sun class. I don't think they built a mega ship and then thought "Oops, we gotta fill that thing." Good business sense would say they were thinking inside the box from the get go. What they did not want is the sophisticated Princess cruise experience of yore and the loyalty cruisers that went along with that. It is possible, you know, to both express disappointment with Princess and go elsewhere to cruise. I'm sure Princess would like for us to stop criticizing them, but in the case of this show, I would say they've invited it.
  13. The original show was fiction and presented as such. This new one is reality TV and selling the illusion (as all reality shows do) that this is real life. Unwitting customers who buy the illusion will find out soon enough if cruising is for them.
  14. Sad this is how it must be, but, yes, we will be moving on.
  15. Maybe check out the roll call. They probably have a better idea than the rest of us would. 🙂
  16. Sold out for years in advance! Cast members even went on excursions with us commoners. Everyone one of them was so nice and like regular folk. (High point of my life: Ted Lange laughed at one of my jokes during lounge.) Sammy the cruise director was the best Princess ever had, IMO. Those were the days... Sigh...
  17. Thanks for this. Memories. I have done this itinerary a couple of times and loved it. Loreto is my favorite.
  18. That person will be disappointed. In 2015, Princess did a 50th Anniversary cruise on the Pacific Princess II, following the original itineraries of the TV show (modified) with the original TV show cast on board. Jack Jones sang the theme song at the sail away party. The cruise was two weeks long, and the cast members intermingled with the guests and even ate alongside them in the MDR. There were plenty of cameras on board, so I wondered later why Princess wasn't using this cruise as advertisement. Maybe the "new" Princess was a plan even then. There are people here on CC who remember this, but I won't "out" them. 🙂 We can remember a truly class-act cruise. When they sold the Pacific Princess, I guess the handwriting was on the wall.
  19. Happy to hear this. The kids love it. Hey, I like it, too.
  20. Maybe I will try the mac and cheese. I see the orange juice is complimentary for the kids on this menu. I wonder if an adult could order it (since they charge for OJ after breakfast.) Maybe the whole OJ thing has changed since my last cruise, but I'm curious about the complementary thing.
  21. Yes, I had noticed that.
