1. Hi,

In morning starboard would be best but afternoon then it will be port, that is if you are travelling due west and deviation form this 270 degree course will alter where the sun hits the ship.

David

That's a bit over technical for me I'm afraid. :o

I know we will be sailing westwards, but also going northwards up the Adriatic, then back south and round the boot of Italy.

Bit of a mix really, but all knowledge and advice is sincerely appreciated.

Thank you

2.
You in 7008 have the best cabin on the ship the huge weather sheltered deck is fantastic it sticks out more than any other. I had it for 34 days and it was astounding good
:D:D, thank you very much . We are at Heathrow tonight and fly to Istanbul tomorrow. We then have to wait till the 17th until I can give my own personal opinion.. I have to say, I'm bordering on childlike excitement ;)
3. Sorry, I used the wrong terminology. There was a nominal extra charge to go for the "upsell" . There are still various categories available on our sailing on 17 September, however there appears to be a wait list for the B category staterooms.

I'd swap for one of the wrap-around suites on the aft of the ship, ;) a straight swap for my extended B3 I think is a fair deal . Don't you agree ? :D
4. Yes, the space on the balcony wins every time , so we're sticking with our B3 :D.

Thank you for your opinions.

I did call my TA to decline the offer and added that as it was my DPs birthday when we board, an offer of an upgrade to an OS , which is still available, at the same extra charge as the concierge, would certainly be a consideration. She chuckled sweetly and advised that that would probably be unlikely. :p
5. We were on the Journey a few years ago and from the time we boarded the tender at Santorini to get back on board, the wind picked up and the swell became too much for the tender to approach the ship.

We were bobbing around quite a bit and no matter what the tender driver tried, we just couldn't make it.

Eventually, the Captain turned the ship to a different angle, I'm assuming to take the brunt of the swell and we finally managed the approach and to board.

Once again my thanks go out to the ginger capsules that helped me keep the contents of my stomach and of course to the Captain :)

6. This is a dilemma, or maybe it's not

We have 7008 an extended B3 on our upcoming Riviera cruise and I have just received an email offering us an upgrade to a concierge "A" cabin on various decks.

I'm thinking "thanks but no thanks"

Your opinions would be appreciated.

Thank you
7. You want the 7008 and its mate.... NOT the aft which is a wind..sea..trap.. they in the aft are set up as an air scoop....

The ones forward are wind and sea sheltered.... and we had 2 loungers, a table and 2 chairs....in 7008

Spent a month in it Tahiti to NY !!!!

We are in 7008 on Riviera in two weeks time. :D Thanks to investigating and posts on these boards and the fact that the cabin was available when we booked.

I emailed a request for loungers direct to Oceania and they did reply stating that it couldn't be guaranteed but my request had been noted. If they're not there, I'll certainly ask the steward.

It's our first Oceania experience and I have to say I'm really looking forward to it. :D

8. Hi

not sure which port you'll be coming into,is it Istanbul?

regards

Josie

Yes it's Istanbul.

We used SafeAirportTransfer last year and they were very reliable when we sailed with Celebrity. We haven't sailed with Oceania so I was wondering what they offered as we used the Azamara transfer once and it was almost the same price as a private rental.

After the usual help from this board, we will be making our own transfer arrangements once again.

9. We have booked our flights independently and therefore have arranged transfers to the hotel and will also book transfer from the hotel to ship, or take a taxi.

Does Oceania offer a transfer from ship to the airport that can be reserved whilst on board ?

10. After trying different methods I still couldn't access the "dining" area. I managed to eventually get through to Oceania and it would seem that my account showed that I had not paid my final balance which is rather strange as today I received my luggage tags etc.

Anyway, problem solved, account tweaked as necessary and access is now allowed.

So, my next question is, if there is entertainment in the evening what is the usual start time? It's my DPs birthday the day we board so as his name is Jacques, I think it's only fitting that that should be where we dine, followed by a show of some sort and that should finish off the day quite nicely. :)

Thanks for your help.

11. We have sailed on a few different lines but mostly Celebrity, mainly because of itinerary and cost and what it offers is fine for us.

We've sailed on the older ships and the new ships, had inside cabins, balcony, extended balcony, in Aqua class , concierge class, been in a suite with a butler ( ok, not the super duper suites, but a suite nevertheless) eaten in the main dining rooms and in Blu, where we have had some of the best food, and excellent courteous service.

We've eaten in the speciality restaurants, but only occasionally, except on our cruise on the Celebrity Constellation last year where the food and service in the OceanLiners was excellent (for us).

We've sailed on Azamara(once), again, because the itinerary and price was right for us, and we weren't disappointed with our experience.

We don't go on a cruise to find new friends, but inevitably, we have met some really lovely people, of all ages and nationalities.

This year will be our first O cruise, because the itinerary and I was gobsmacked to find that the price was right, for us.

To wake up most mornings in another port, see different cultures, see beautiful scenery ( as long as we don't dock in industrial ports) , someone makes my bed, gives me clean towels twice a day , or as often as I want them, and most of all, cooks food, that in general is definitely more varied than I have at home....oh, and clears up after I've finished ...then generally, I'm a very happy bunny ;)

Maybe we are not at critical as others although My DP stood in the buffet one lunchtime on the Celebrity Reflection and claimed "there's nothing here for me to eat " ...but that's another story :o

I suppose what I'm trying to say is that, this year we will be on the Riviera and I for one , am really looking forward to it. :)

12. Pinotlover, I too have "embraced" my grey hair whereas my " other half " uses a special shampoo which personally I think makes his hair silver as opposed to white. I like to think it looks distinguished, whereas my young work colleagues call me "the old grey one" :o

Shampoo is shampoo, rarely known for its miracle properties ;)

Fortunately we both have what can only be called as a "decent head of hair"

13. As an older grey haired gentleman, I believe that the furnished shampoos do fine. My wife brings and uses her own.

I will comment that the provided shampoos would not be considered "volumizing" by any stretch of the imagination. :(

We too are "grey haired", as I would guess a fair few other fellow passengers are :o .

We will bring our own supplies but it's nice to try different brands from time to time.
