  1. As an older grey haired gentleman, I believe that the furnished shampoos do fine. My wife brings and uses her own.

I will comment that the provided shampoos would not be considered "volumizing" by any stretch of the imagination. :(

We too are "grey haired", as I would guess a fair few other fellow passengers are :o .

We will bring our own supplies but it's nice to try different brands from time to time.

  2. It is not a particular cabin. It's a category of cabins for which they have wait lists or guarantys.

Guarantys have to be satisfied. Wait listed cruisers pay a higher price for a cabin that might have been booked the day the itinerary came out.

As Bitob has related, the majority of upsale offers, or even rarer upgrades result from the Cruise Line wanting to free up cabins in a category where guarantees have already been sold.

There are also certain Oceania Passengers who quietly prefer to remain onboard for 3 or 4 (sometimes 6) consecutive voyages. As a concession to their loyalty, Oceania will often arrange to keep them in the same cabin, throughout. Should you be booked in segment 3, the offers will fly, particularly if that long-term passenger has a competent Travel Agent.

Finally, as you move up the food chain, there is a great deal of upsale "action" regarding the larger Suites.

    Thank you for the information.

At the moment I think there is a huge amount of availability on our sailing 17/09/15 so I don't think it's an issue that I'll have to consider :o

  3. +1 Excellent Advice!

If they want the cabin badly enough, you just won't believe the offers. :D

We are Oceania "newbies" and I am curious as to why they would want any cabin "badly enough"

I must admit that I do try to research cabins and always have tried to grab a larger balcony if possible ( we've mostly sailed on Celebrity) as I prefer to sit on my balcony if at all possible.

I feel that our 7008 on Riviera was a good find and wonder if that might be a cabin that that they might like to re-sell and if they approached me, should we trade-in?

  4. Thanks everyone .

It's all about the space, having enough room for a lounger and the view, so it all sounds just right for me :D

We'll be on the "Med" in September so weather conditions should be ok too!

Feel free to post some pics after your cruise Corpkid ;)

  5. We have mostly sailed on Celebrity and have always tried to book an extended balcony if at all possible.

When we decided to try Oceania, I spent many hours scouring deck plans to see if their ships had them too, as some ships don't.

Right price for us / right itinerary for us / right dates for us and I do believe we've scored the right cabin for us :D

    7008 on Riviera, am I right ?

  6. We have dined in Blu on a few different ships both "S" class and "M" class and have found the staff and Maitre'd to be superbly attentive and only too pleased to to help with any dietary issues and / or requests. In fact as one said to us some years ago, it was more than his life was worth to serve someone with something that was knowingly going to make them unwell.

I'm sure you'll have no problem at all and enjoy the (generally) excellent food in Blu.

  7. I had the menu on Equinox and went to the breakfast daily. Having had the buffet style too there are good and bad with each. It's nice to be served at your seat, but the choices are plated food and too much of it in my view. The first morning I had a huge medley of pastries to choose from. Once I got the hang of things I'd order specific items like a croissant and a Danish. The cheese plate included cheeses I didn't like and I felt wasteful leaving what I didn't want and a yearn for more cheddar.

They will bring you toast if you ask and the smoothies were great. It was civilised to be served, but overall I prefer the buffet style to pick what I want.

    Phil

    I agree with you Phil.

We were on Connie in October and the Elite breakfast was chosen from a set menu and the plated food had cheese types we didn't want and pastries and muffins we didn't want.

My DP asked for a bagel, I think it took about 20 minutes to be served so it must have come from the main breakfast buffet which is madness. If they would have said, we would have maybe told them not to worry.

The fruit platter had a very thin slice of papaya, melon and pineapple one berry and half a strawberry on it.... I never understand half a strawberry, why cant they put two halves on the plate

We loved the location, which was Ocean Liners on Connie and the lack of hustle and bustle, but personal opinion is that we prefer to choose. We started to eat in the main buffet and DP would go down for his Mimosa and coffee.

The smoothies were great though and nicely chilled too!

  8. Not sure why you are saddened by the statement. Other cruisers can correct me if I am wrong, but there have never been loungers on Sky Suite balconies, at least not that I am aware of. There were two pics in the link of the room review above that show the balcony furniture for Sky Suite 6145 on the Constellation.

I am saddened because I was looking forward to lounging.

If I cant lounge, then I'll have to sit --- or slouch ;)

  9. This could be a hard decision depending on what is important to you.

Neither suite will have loungers on the balcony as the balcony is not so large as to have the space for this. On M-Class ships, you will find loungers on balconies for Royal and PH Suites.

I am saddened by this statement. We will be in our first SS on Connie in 8121 and I love to spend my time on the balcony.

Are there the new type of chairs as on "S" class, with a footrest???

  10. I take ginger root capsules 550mg I think, one in the morning and one in the evening, or night. I take it every day, even if the sea is like a millpond as I figure that prevention is better than cure and I prefer not to feel unwell for one minute of my holiday if at all possible. We have sailed in some fairly rough seas both very far forward and also aft and so far, I've not needed any other form of medication .

I find it's best to take with some food as a couple of times I've taken it on its own before bed and experienced a bit of " ginger reflux" :o

Remembering that everyone is different but in a nutshell, I absolutely recommend ginger root capsules as there are ( generally) no side effects. :)

  11. Been trying to contact celebrity uk by e-mail but no response -anyone any ideas of an e-mail they will reply to-thanks

Try phoning , I've never had a problem getting through....eventually...after choosing from the multitude of options of buttons that have to be pressed . Seriously though, the few times I've had to make contact, I've phoned.

  12. Thanks y'all for your recommendations. I have 1 more question. We are not so much worried about the noise factor since we are early-risers anyways and have a port intensive itinerary. My husband in particular is concerned about the diesel exhaust wafting behind the ship and preventing us from being able to enjoy the balcony. Did anybody experience these issues?

    Your help is greatly appreciated

    Regards

    Petra

    No we didnt.

  13. We had 9156 on Millennium, it became available a few weeks before departure and we swapped from a C1.

The size was great especially as there was only the two of us and as everyone says, the balcony is huge however, you may experience noise from the bar directly above.

When they are cleaning in the morning, they tend to drag the chairs and tables across the floor so if you are a light sleeper, you may well be disturbed, I was.

I did mention it to the barman but they have a job to do, and that's just the way they do it, have always done it, and will continue to do it. ( He just pretended that he didn't know what I was talking about)

I'm not one who complains ( well I might to my DP, ;) ) but after a few mornings it was really troubling me as they do start quite early so we spoke to the Customer Relations and were fortunate that the cabin directly below us was empty and we were moved to 8166.

I just thought you should know :o
