  1. No, no one here does at least. Ther might be opinion and specualation but no one her has facts.
  2. Not at all, ARE is referring to a singular PLURAL noun. Ergo 'incentive PROGRAMS are' vs 'incentive PROGRAM is. Your example is completely contextually different. Had NCL wanted to say that both nouns are support by the DSC, there would be a comma after the word programs. I am taking the statement as it is literally written, nothing more nothing less.
  3. OK, OK, OK, I'll fess up. NCL makes a monthly direct deposit into a numbered off-shore bank account that is subsequently laundered into my person checking account. The deposit they send me is any unused tips, DSC, and cash tips handed directly to the bar and dining staff. Thank to this gracious activity by NCL, my retirement fund is quite substantial. Now you know the whole story. Oh yeah, please keep tipping cash! 🙂
  4. Nothing to "beware" about, had you read when the offer entails you would have known that NCL can and will use sister airports. As far as a shuttle goes, try these folks https://miamiportshuttle.net/rates. Remember next time read what it is you are buying before making the purchase.
  5. You are ignoring the way the sentence is written and punctuated. It states the the employees are "compensated by a combination of salary AND incentive programs that are funded in part by the service charge", two separate means of compensation "salary" AND "incentive programs that are funded in part by the DSC". Ergo the sentence in no way says that the DSC pays salaries.
  6. Not at all, it says incentive "PROGRAMS" which is plural ergo are is exactly correct and my post is 100% correct.
  7. It literally says "by a combination of salary AND INCENTIVE PROGRAMS THAT YOUR SERVICE CHARGE SUPPORTS." (Caps aded for clarity) That means they get a salary AND they get a an incentive program that is supported by the DSC. EXACTLY what you underlined.
  8. Please provide us with anything that supports your OPINION that NCL does this. I have yet to see it. Then again, never mind, the whole discussion is going in circles of people stating opinions and passing them off as fact. I could not care less how "NCL distributes the DSC". I am much more than happy with the total cost of my cruise and other than that, I am not wasting my time worrying about insignificant matters that are none of my business in the first place. Enjoy your continued discussion.
  9. Just curious here. How much of your tip is a regular top and how much of it is extra? To answer your question, non one here knows for a fact how tips are handled and further, it is none of our business. As long as the employees and NCL have a system in place and both sides agree to it, who really cares?
  10. I have gone through 3 bags of popcorn already reading this thread all over a silly $20 (more or less) a day that people are all bent out shape over. I am surprised that someone has not posted "demanding" that NCL be more "transparent" in disclosing where the cruise fare goes! If anyone is really all bent out of shape, go grab a set of NCL's financials and read them. If you need help reading them, based on the posts in this thread, it appears that I am not the only CPA here, so just ask.
  11. Pretzel logic at it's fines. I guess I will start demanding to know the pay of every person who works at any establishment where I spend my hard earned.
  12. The 499.00 is the average per person double occupancy cruise fare only. You still have port fees and taxes, and as you say you took the FAS offers which means you pay the gratuities on the drink and dining packages. No bait and switch, you just failed to read the terms and conditions of the offer before jumping in. Still 2104.00 for two people to sail a9-day cruise with open bar and specialty dining for however many days is not a bad deal.
  13. Of course they prefer being tipped. In most (if not all) jurisdictions in the USA, the minimum wage for tipped employees is much lower than the "standard" minimum wage, with one HUGE stipulation. That being, if the hourly wage paid to a tipped employed plus the tipr they receive do not bring them up to at least he "standard" minimum wage, the employer must make up the difference. Ego it is a no lose situation for the tipped employee. I loved working at the tipped job that I had when I first got out of the Marine Corps. I made a boat load of money there!
  14. First off it is none of our business how NCL employees are paid. Secondly, you know what they say about assumptions, right? In the third place, tips are not base salary.
  15. But we are talking about the incentive program being part of BASE WAGES not whether wages are an incentive.
  16. You can get into your cabin as soon as the announcement is made that they are ready and available.
  17. Handle it? Yeah go on your cruise and have a good time. Do not CHOOSE to let this change ruin your cruise.
  18. How is an incentive program paying base wages? An incentive is something one would get/earn that is ABOVE/IN ADDITION TO base wages.
  19. Schedule a flight about 5-6 hours after the time the ship arrives at the port. You are welcome in arrears.
