  1. Yes Bucks County north of Philadelphia. Born and raised but haven't lived there since I left for collage (UM) at 18. Love visiting family back there though and wow Philly has come a long way since when I was a kid.

I'm south of Doylestown, but less then a mile from Trenton, NJ. It's changed a lot, but a bigger shame with the huge crime rate

  2. Hope you get to. Keep an eye out, not sure if NYC will, but Port Everglades has historically organized an official flotilla of maritime vessels to escort the new ships on their arrival. It's normally open to anyone that wants to join, just done officially so they can assure nobody gets to close or does anything dangerous or stupid.

    I think that's the best part, I can't wait

My friend is a captain, and extremely safe, thank god he's not a weekend warrior

  3. Cruise Business Review has some excellent articles on QUANTUM in the current issue. One is about Food & Beverage. Brian Abel, VP of F&B for Royal Caribbean discusses the Schooner Bar. On QUANTUM he states the Schooner Bar's decor and menu will reflect the cruise line's heritage over the past 40 years. For instance the menu's will feature Royal Caribbean ships launched in the 70's, 80's, 90's, etc. along with cocktails from those eras. Also the Schooner Bar will feature really cool images of Royal Caribbean ships throughout history. This concept is expected to migrate to other Royal Caribbean ships as well.

In another article more about the technical & design aspects of QUANTUM, Scott Wilson, Director at Wilson Butler Architects discusses some of his favorite areas. One is something we haven't heard much about, the Solarium. He states "One of the things I love the most is the solarium and cascading pool with stepped terraces and commanding views over the bow of the ship. "Here, four lagoons/circular pools are connected with water flowing from one to another. "The imagery is of sitting in a mountain stream in pools of water," he explained, which caused "quite a few eyes to roll" but noted WBA is no stranger to these challenges having been involved with many other challenging features on Royal Caribbean ships.

It all sounds cool to me!

Thank you ! I just seen on Facebook your from my neck of the woods !

  4. I'm wondering if those colors are being projected onto the ship as part of tests for the festival nighttime.

The last shot seems to show snowflakes or something else projected onto the hull.

It also looks like you can see beams of light coming from across the water onto the ship.

Maybe the light tests are for lights being projected, not lights on the ship.

    Thoughts?

Agreed, if you look where the open door is, it looks like a projector putting the light on the ship

  5. What really bothers me is having to wear this ugly big blue thing on my wrist, I don't want to see that on myself each and every minute, this is my issue its not the tracking really because honestly, for children I think its a great idea but for adults to me its childish wearing this plastic contraction around my wrist, I want the sea pass. :)

I suggest going with another cruise line, wasting time to post something that no one(unless you have been to Disney) has even tried yet. It's called technology, it has become a way of life unless you live on some remote island.

  6. I agree with you on both points and especially that delivery will be on time. There are a lot of things that are done after the Ems River conveyance. Not sure if some think that the ship is "delivered" on or before the Ems conveyance.

Similar to the company I work for, when boats and ships (much smaller than cruise ships) are built by a yard there are items that are "owner" furnished and outfitting that takes place after formal delivery. So for these cruise ships it is not uncommon that work is still being done inside the ship after the final delivery.

I would hope that people would understand after the conveyance is done, the it goes into sea trials where for all intense purpose beat the snot out of the ship to see how much she will handle and most importantly all systems are functioning properly

  7. They've still got 3 weeks before the EMS trip, I've seen dry dock internal refurbishments completed in less time!

Remember that the owner of the yard stated this is the biggest and most complex ship this yard has ever built, but I have all the faith in the yard that the ship will be done when they sign the paperwork to hand it over.

I would almost bet that with anthem they realized where they were lacking with quantum and brought more staff in

  8. Oh, that's what I saw posted on another thread. They said that was from the reveal. I thought $2 per person per day was a bit steep.

That would be crazy to charge per day, it was discussed on Facebook on Monday and one of the people was able to get the info on the band

  9. I am amazed at how much work has yet to be done in the common areas. The move down the river is supposed to begin in the next couple of weeks. I'm guessing a bunch of workers are going to be taking a river boat ride.

I don't think it's too uncommon for the yard to be doing work while they are doing the transit and sea trials.

I think when the oasis was coming over they were still doing finishing touches to the inside

  10. FYI. There will be a new process, but you can use the current process now for on-line check-in. I wanted to make certain I will not need to redo everything as I did check-in at least a month ago. I called CS and was told if you have already started or completed the process, you will not need to redo.

Umm I understand that, I have been following all the reveal info and just adding the fact that my sailing is seeing the same info

  11. I sure hope you are right. Of course we've always survived with just one toilet while cruising and having one toilet separate from the shower and the extra sink will be a step in the right direction. But 2 toilets would be absolutely fabulous and something I really looked forward to in addition to iFly and NorthStar. :)

I can't find any Quantum pictures at this link. I see a Quantum link, I click it, and nothing appears.

I found the pictures and I'm not seeing it the way you are. I see no place where there can be another toilet based on what I've seen of the inside of the bathroom in relation to the outside.

Try this link, if this doesn't work click on galleries and the first title will have quantum pics.

In the picture it shows the door to the cabin opens up into the hallway, and to the right is what appears to be the secondary bathroom and to the left is the main bathroom. The room appears to be pretty roomy

  12. I will say that I believe I'm right about this and yet again, CC has it wrong. Look at that SJS bathroom picture and see where the door latch is at the end of the full bathtub. Look at the wall beside the shower. Here is what Gene Sloan says in his description of the main bathroom. "Junior suites have two bathrooms, one of which has a sink, bathtub and shower." Here is what he says about the second bathroom, "The second bathroom in junior suites features a toilet and a sink." I have more faith in the information from USA Today than what I read on CC based on other recent very likely misinformation I've read.

So the original floor plans we were shown prior to booking the ship ended up not being very accurate. It also showed a cabinet/closet on each side of the bed. The square footage is the smallest they've had for a JS in a while so apparently they realized they couldn't fit in a cabinet on both sides of the bed.

This is the way I see it, I could be wrong as I am so often , but I don't think I am this time. I know there are a few others who see it as I do, too.

Looking at the pictures from oceanliner-pictures there is a good shot of the spa junior suite and there is another space next to the cabin entrance that appears to be just big enough to have a toilet and sink installed, next to that is a closet.
