Here is another view of the lifeboats and the possible obstruction they create.
Photo from oceanliner-pictures.
Oh yeah the obstruction is pretty significant! I'm thankful I chose my room wisely, it falls in between I get to look at the rescue boat below

You're welcome. The guy who took them, Oliver Asmussen is an excellent photographer and has photographed the interiors of many ships. Be sure to check out his whole site as there may be other ships you're interested in seeing.
Will do

With Quantum's 6:00am listed debarkation time (people book air and transportation off of this so do not expect a major change) she should be pulling in between 5:00am and 5:30am (Oasis was, not sure if she still does, pulling in at 4:00am even though debarkation was 7:00am). The monument is only open dawn to dusk. Sunrise on the day Quantum arrives is not until 6:37 AM so I do not expect the park to be open. It is not like some of the other parks that are just wide open to walk in, they have a gated parking area to enter.
I've asked Royal Caribbean about this but they haven't responded to any of my questions about if anything will be happening. Since the arrival is a normal cruise I'm starting to think they won't do anything. The same happened when NCL arrived with their new ship on a paid voyage. Royal could be planning something bigger. They chose to have her arrive on a Monday, perhaps they plan to do something with the Today Show again on Tuesday. They could even be planning to do something big at night in front of the statue of liberty instead of around the arrival.
Darn it !! Was hoping to see the wash down ! Figure I may not have a chance anytime soon to see it! Thank you for the information

My understanding is that the band is optional (cost $2). Passengers may opt for standard issue card (no charge). The cards or bands will be your cabin. Needed information, including photo, will be submitted electronically to RCL from home before you cruise. A selfie will be used for your photo
You are correct the bands are 2.00, you have to tell them you want the band, which will be delivered to your stateroom. I'm only guessing here, but you might still be able to use both. It appears by the picture that the sea passes will also have the RFID chip in them as we'll.

I think this is the one they are talking about. It is in the terminal area. Right where the ship docks.

I found that earlier, but I didn't think with all the 911 security measures you wouldn't be able to just drive in, park, and hang out !
-
It could be because Quantum is the first ship to have actual paying customers on board it's maiden voyage.
I see the point there, well I guess I will be getting up extremely early, driving up, hanging out with my camera

Thanks Ken. It was not clear from the reveal or the press release that there was an option. As long as I have an option I am happy.
The bands are 2.00 dollars, and when you order it, they will place it in your room. You have the choice between the traditional sea pass or the band

By searching for the transatlantic itinerary on RoyalCaribbean.com, you can see that Quantum is scheduled to arrive in Bayonne on November 10:
The arrival time is listed as 6am, but I would also assume it will get in earlier than that.
It just seems weird to come in that early, considering the last few royal had come in later in the morning for the traditional wash down

Did anyone spot the North Star on its side, still wrapped up and waiting on the pool deck to be installed on the Quantum of the Seas.
Interesting, Colleen this morning stated it was shipped to Poland where they are finishing the crane for north start
-
Anyone know the date and time the Quantum is expected to arrive at Port Liberty?? Or is it too early to know for sure.
I'd like to be there. It's easy to get to the monument park.
Is monument park located in the port or outside ?? I'm interested in going as well

Something is telling me that we are going to be seeing a whole new website with the new system going online! It's almost like they have abandoned the current system and only do what they have to do to keep it "functioning"

Thank you Colleen for the report and pics

Right inside the door on the right. Here's a pic that I pulled from FB

This may be a stupid question, but where are the sinks ?
-
I was hoping it was going to be available. Why it's not is beyond me.
I agree put it out now, let people play with it, work the bugs out, and get right before the first revenue sailing... Less frustration
-
With exception to being able to know when your queue is coming up resulting from great bandwidth, I could care less about hopping on my phone and wasting time when there's so much to see, experience & enjoy on the transAtlantic. My uploads can wait till we're back in US. Plus, I'm sure that it probably doesn't come for free!
Apparently the Royal IQ is a free service, because you would be using an intranet and not the internet.

This article really explains how involved Richard Fain is and how he loves to push the envelope on technology and to push his employees to make things the best that they can be:http://cruise-week.com/cw082514final.pdf
I think Harri Kulovaara is quite the amazing man also, as he is the one that develops the designs for Royal's ships. I like his inflection in his voice when he talks, I wonder what nationality he is?
Keith
Harri's nationality is Finnish

With the ship sailing soon, when will this app be available ? :D
According to royal pr on twitter they said when quantum starts taking her first sailing guests. Take the info for what it's worth, I would keep checking the app stores
-
They didn't say, it was all a focus on tech and how advanced they have become
-
It was awesome ! I'm happy, people at work are looking at me like I'm crazy
-
The streaming site is currently showing a cool slide show now :D
Thank you ! Could go for some island music playing in the background
-
Right! It appears as if they're trying to get the exterior work completed as quickly as possible before Old Man Winter returns.
Yeah ! They are saying it's going to be another nasty winter !
New Check In starts next month
