  1. With Quantum's 6:00am listed debarkation time (people book air and transportation off of this so do not expect a major change) she should be pulling in between 5:00am and 5:30am (Oasis was, not sure if she still does, pulling in at 4:00am even though debarkation was 7:00am). The monument is only open dawn to dusk. Sunrise on the day Quantum arrives is not until 6:37 AM so I do not expect the park to be open. It is not like some of the other parks that are just wide open to walk in, they have a gated parking area to enter.

I've asked Royal Caribbean about this but they haven't responded to any of my questions about if anything will be happening. Since the arrival is a normal cruise I'm starting to think they won't do anything. The same happened when NCL arrived with their new ship on a paid voyage. Royal could be planning something bigger. They chose to have her arrive on a Monday, perhaps they plan to do something with the Today Show again on Tuesday. They could even be planning to do something big at night in front of the statue of liberty instead of around the arrival.

Darn it !! Was hoping to see the wash down ! Figure I may not have a chance anytime soon to see it! Thank you for the information

  2. My understanding is that the band is optional (cost $2). Passengers may opt for standard issue card (no charge). The cards or bands will be your cabin. Needed information, including photo, will be submitted electronically to RCL from home before you cruise. A selfie will be used for your photo

You are correct the bands are 2.00, you have to tell them you want the band, which will be delivered to your stateroom. I'm only guessing here, but you might still be able to use both. It appears by the picture that the sea passes will also have the RFID chip in them as we'll.

  3. I think this is the one they are talking about. It is in the terminal area. Right where the ship docks.

I found that earlier, but I didn't think with all the 911 security measures you wouldn't be able to just drive in, park, and hang out !

  4. By searching for the transatlantic itinerary on RoyalCaribbean.com, you can see that Quantum is scheduled to arrive in Bayonne on November 10:

    http://www.royalcaribbean.com/findacruise/cruiseDetails/itinerary.do?state=&packageCode=QN08T002&hasFireandPolice=&hasMilitary=&hasSenior=&date=201411&cruiseType=CO

The arrival time is listed as 6am, but I would also assume it will get in earlier than that.

It just seems weird to come in that early, considering the last few royal had come in later in the morning for the traditional wash down

  5. I was hoping it was going to be available. Why it's not is beyond me.

I agree put it out now, let people play with it, work the bugs out, and get right before the first revenue sailing... Less frustration

  6. With exception to being able to know when your queue is coming up resulting from great bandwidth, I could care less about hopping on my phone and wasting time when there's so much to see, experience & enjoy on the transAtlantic. My uploads can wait till we're back in US. Plus, I'm sure that it probably doesn't come for free!

Apparently the Royal IQ is a free service, because you would be using an intranet and not the internet.

  7. This article really explains how involved Richard Fain is and how he loves to push the envelope on technology and to push his employees to make things the best that they can be:http://cruise-week.com/cw082514final.pdf

I think Harri Kulovaara is quite the amazing man also, as he is the one that develops the designs for Royal's ships. I like his inflection in his voice when he talks, I wonder what nationality he is?

    Keith

    Harri's nationality is Finnish
