Hmmm. That does make one paws and think. Honey of an idea!
Lol !

Maybe the bear somehow splits and launches fire works !! Kinda like the globe on oasis that turns into a cat walk !
-
I believe it's because it's not on it's own propulsion until it clears the building hall.
-
I was wondering if anyone had any info on what nights are formal ? You think by now that I would remember this, but at this point it escapes me..

Would anyone have a good link to pictures of the serenade ? I have only been on the freedom and oasis class, and I don't want to be disappointed getting on a smaller ship.

At least 10 markers there, so is that 10 shots. Each about 15fathoms? 150 fathoms ~ 900 feet of chain?
I was just going to ask what the white/orange markers were for on the chain... Thank you for clarifying it

Hi all.
I've been following this thread for sometime, purely from an interest in how these marine miracles are constructed.
Today I booked on the Anthem for June so my interested has sky rocketed.
Thank you to everyone who has explained what's happening, or posted pictures.
Welcome! Sit back and enjoy, it's truly amazing watching, learning, and understanding how it all works

I've got an invested interest in both as I'm booked to sail on Anthem of the Seas back to back with Norwegian Escape next October :D
Lol !!
I'm just booked on the anthem !

No it will built the same as Quantum.
Anthem will be floated into the back of the hall and two Escape mega locks built in front.
The block plan shows Escape laid in front of Anthem. The only reason for that is if she is also being built as two mega blocks.
The previous way they have been restricted to building one block behind until a ship is fully outfitted to float out.
I expect this is the way forward from now on.
I see makes perfect sense, to keep everything flowing to stay on track and on time

So do you think they would build the anthem toward the front of building hall ?
-
Thank you Lloyd !!! Royal should higher you as the PR machine, because clearly they can't pull it off !!
-
It will be used to fasten a ponton and a tug boat
Thank you !! When I was looking it just seemed weird to have this arbitrary hook.. Makes sense now
-
I wonder what that hook looking thing is below where the anchor is housed?
-
I don't believe this predates the pic with water in the dock. Take a look at the paint job on the bulbous bow... nice and polished off in the RCI PR pic. The pic with water in the dock shows the bulbous bow covered with some plastic and the paint doesn't look finished yet.
Also... and this is just my interpretation, the preceding pics make it look like there's not enough room in front of Q for that tug and the pic to be taken, if the lock were still in place...

I would tend to agree, they removed the block in the hall to get ready to flood it for float out. I would think it would be easier to flood the whole thing at once vs flooding either side and trying to remove the block.

Well here is another day for float out, Weather pending

I booked when reservations first opened. Had I not done so, I would not be on this sailing. The prices are ridiculous now!
I should have done that

I wish could have afforded the inaugural but, other things came up
-
LOL. I hear ya. The wait would've been too much for me too.
I'm looking into the Anthem for next November. We may end up on the same sailing.
We are scheduled for nov 30th. We are doing a guys vacation !! One friend wife died last year so we decided to take the 12 day and holding him to his promise that he made to his wife before she passed... Looking forward to it
Losing steam for quantum and anthem with the lack of info from rccl and the lack of hype from them. Lloyd has done a fantastic job keeping everyone going so far !
-
Nice! I'll finally sail on board a radiance class ship next April (Jewel) out of San Juan.
Nice !! I had to move my quantum cruise to the anthem for next nov.. No way I was going to last until next year, got a great deal on the serenade with fire and EMS discount, couldn't turn it down

Hey!! how goes it? That's the best I can do until Lloyd returns. LOL
:D
Going well counting days until I climb aboard the serenade in New Orleans !
-
A small picture update.
Thanks Ty, lookin good

I wonder with all the unknowns at this point, if there was a big change order considering quantum is going to china. I wonder if there are trying to minimize the impact for the transit since it will be revenue generating
Quantum Keel Blocks are in the House!

It could be the difference in weight between the two block, pushing the first block down in the water
