  1. Glad this is an entertaining topic. How many of you that fly in earlier, do not pay for deviation because you have 15 or more cruises with O? For those of you that dont, do you feel O should wave the $175 pp for the deviation, to make it easier for us to go in a couple of days earlier? Cant imagine anyone saying, no O should not, but there will be some I am sure.
  2. no I can look that up on my own...how impolite to tell someone to calm down...especially for a host....
  3. Just backing up my 90%....let me know if you need more... https://www.msn.com/en-ca/travel/news/baggage-chaos-delta-flies-plane-with-1000-missing-bags-—-and-no-people-—-from-london-to-us/ar-AAZBWb9?li=AAggNb9
  4. Tons of stories like this one. Yeah 90% seems about right. https://ca.news.yahoo.com/british-airways-passengers-were-sent-103655822.html
  5. Cruise is in November and hope by then most of these issues are cleared up. But no one can say to me in October, why didnt you raise this issue much sooner. But probably some will, just the nature of the beast.
  6. Where are you getting your statistics from and if just off the top of your head, then I can just as easily say, 90% of the people flying to Europe right now have huge issues. In other words, way too many. Mine is probably closer to the mark.
  7. Thank you for posting this. Some here will say it is way overblown by media. And some will say you are making this all up.
  8. I think May/June things were still ok...they certainly were ok when we travelled in March...
  9. We are using Os air...they will advise us as to what is the best course of action. Since they are doing the advising, that puts the accountability on them. Seems simple to me. If they feel we should go in 3 days earlier, then they should wave the deviation fee.
  10. We have booked 3 cruises all with a French balcony on the new Vista. Looking forward to it.
  11. Canada has been voted as number One in missed, cancelled flights ...this week. Our govt says it is getting better, but they have cancelled so many flights that far less people are flying, that is why it is better...you have to be really stupid not to understand that...you know the saying, you can fool some of the people........ I hope you are wrong in thinking that O does not take getting their passengers onto the ship seriously....we are counting on them.... in the past we always did our own flights, but these times we want every advantage....and flying with O we think gives us that...time will tell...hoping that things settle down enough not to need that advantage.... thank you to those of you who being helpful here... is anyone else going on a cruise in November without wanting to stop anywhere else before they get onto the ship? I should also start a new topic...how to go on a 15 day cruise with only carry on luggage...yup that is what our airport is recommending...
  12. yes that is why we are glad we opted for O air....at this uncertain time.... but you would think it would be better for them and for us to make sure we go early enough to allow for flight cancellations...wearing rose colored glasses would make me think that all will be well as soon as summer travel is over....I just dont own a pair.....
  13. Our flights are with O because they pride themselves on "getting you there". We will count on them to tell us what is the best course of action when flights become available for our Nov 19 cruise. If they suggest because of what is happening with unforeseen cancellations etc that we go in earlier, we will ask that they wave the deviation fee. We will pay for hotels for one or two nights. Seems to me that would be easier for them then to make sure they get us to some port on the itinerary, if we miss the first few days. This is to get to Barcelona, home from Miami is not really a concern. The concern is making the ship. The hope is that things with Air travel in November will go back to what they were when we travelled in April. We are thankful that we made the decision to use O air and have them figure this out.
  14. There is no point saying how wonderful everything was in March and April. There were no extraordinary issues at that time. We also flew in March for an O cruise. Yes on the day of the cruise. Someone here said it is a small price to pay for peace of mind to go in a couple of days early and stay in hotel. It is very relative what is a small price for some may not be for others. Deviation would cost 350, a couple of nights in hotel another 600 at least...meals ...incidentals...so you can add another 1, 000 to your cruise cost. Not small price to me. Not to mention extra time away from work.
  15. Well I can only assume that there are very few people on CC, or very few travelling right now. So many screaming all over the world of the horrors of air travel right now, but no mention here...all is rosy and happy here. Not a single post of how someone has missed the cruise since so many flights are cancelled forcing travelers to spend countless nights and days at the airports waiting to be rebooked. Someone might even mention that I should post evidence if this. Just read the news. Has anyone spoken to cruise line reps to see what cruise lines are doing about ensuring their passengers get onto the ship? I havent since our cruise is in November, but surely there are those who are cruising now or about to be cruising. I guess I really have my answer, there is no interest in this topic and no one is having any issues. All is well and all are happy,
  16. Its NOT the covid I am referring to...we have also been on a cruise in March...yes our whole trivia team came down with covid...some in Marseille hospital, some left stranded in Barcelona to quarantine... but I am talking about having to go days earlier, in case all or some flights are cancelled....having to do without luggage, just a carry on, since so much of the luggage is being lost...apple tags are not helping... those are todays ordeals...just surprised no one is talking about them... we did NOT have airline and baggage issues in March...
  17. Yes host, I hear you. Just surprised there arent more posts from those who are travelling right now and what ordeal they are encountering. Just reading that all is very rosy does not give one the real picture.
  18. yes but how was it getting to the ship and getting home? did your luggage arrive? I am surprised that there are not more stories here about what you have to go through to get onto the ship and then back home.
  19. This is all way too much for me. we are doing a TA from Bar to Mia in Nov.... I dont want to hang out somewhere for 3 to 4 days waiting for the cruise..been to barcellona many times, dont want several days there, not to mention the expense of deviation, 175 pp and hotel....O should really wave deviation at this time... wish I had cancelled before final pay...this is no way to enjoy travelling... guess our only hope is that things will improve by november....but I dont think so... air lines are saying things are improving a bit now...yeah because they have cancelled most of their flights....still luggage lying on the tarmac with no one bothering to look at it... just awful....
  20. Does anyone know what O is doing at this time to make sure they get their passengers on?
  21. With the ongoing chaos of Air travel, should cruise lines extend the amount of time before leaving port? Are people finding that with cancelled air and delays, they are not making it onto the ship? And what about all the luggage that never makes it onto the ship? Should Cruise ships start making up little care packages for all the missing luggage that passengers will never get and changing the dress code. If I travel with only a carry on for a 15 day cruise, I will definitely be worse dressed than a homeless person. Not maligning homeless people. Our cruise is not till November but I see little to no improvement by then. Here we are seeing videos of all kinds of luggage just lying out in on the tarmac, with no one paying any attention to it. So if not covid and all the issues of that, now add the getting to the ship on time and then managing with no luggage. I just had a friend who flew from Orlando, a short 2 hour flight and still his luggage was lost. So what chance does anyone flying overseas or transcontinental have. And it you have any stopovers, might as well throw your luggage in the garbage before you leave home.
