  1. And when was the last time THAT happened...? (Just built the Lego Titanic!)
  2. Yes, it does sound a bit first world problemish....
  3. No - there are two different packages, one supposed good for streaming... Anyone done a speed test on either? (On QM2, preferably)
  4. Any noticeable difference between the two packages on offer?
  5. I guess the room being metal boxes are a bit of a design flaw when it comes to wifi. Have seen videos of people sitting in the corridors, or jamming the door open with a shoe.
  6. Thank you. I will report back, or even mid journey if the wifi works... Most (82?) Queens Grill rooms are essentially the size of two standard cabins. A small number seem to be 50% bigger again, and then a very small number of the silly sized suites, penthouses etc. We are actually Q5 which is slightly higher grade (as midships) than Q6 (fore and afts).
  7. Doesn't help either as in the hierarchy of Queens Grill we are in with the masses - i.e. one of the "standard" Q5s unless they somehow rank "midships" above "fore" or "aft"! Doubt we'll be getting a window table! Very much first world problem though - just be glad if we actually get on board (with neither of us catching Covid first for example!). I did make one newbie mistake - chose a cabin port side (as if that's going to be any warmer in October mid Atlantic) but chose one with a connecting door. Did manage to chose away from the lifts...
  8. Thanks. I doubt we’ll get a great table as first ever Cunard voyage so have no status. Will go for lunch anyway!
  9. Ok.. what things should I be looking to book as soon as aboard (2 weeks tomorrow). Does the Grills concierge manage to get difficult to get stuff - whatever that may be. I’m an absolute beginner at this… yes. Hope to be getting lunch; what time does boarding start (have 12:45 suggested time). Likely arriving an hour before that on Fastcat from IoW - taxi from ferry terminal to QM2 permitting (too long to walk with cases)
  10. Thinking things like engine room, bridge, galley etc? Or has general security issues and Covid put paid to that?
  11. well I haven't seen any... because it's my first crossing /Cunard/ANY trip two weeks today anyone else that far out have luggage labels, boarding passes, insurance, ESTAs, everything ready...?
  12. Quite likely cases won't be over 23kg - but just wondering if there's an issue if it is, for example 24kg...!
  13. What is the earliest time then? Have "priority", whether that works or not!
  14. Quite excited... 21 days to go for my first QM2 crossing so of course I've already downloaded the boarding cards and luggage labels (12:45 for us) Question: luggage is supposed to be 23kg max - I have two nice big suitcases (as flying back club - 32kg allowed). Do they really check the weight of the cases at Southampton?
  15. I've been told TA is not a cruise but is a crossing... 😉 Our first *crossing* (or indeed "cruise" of any sort on any ship) on QM2 in 32 days...
  16. I only have blue chinos… not sure a blue blazer type jacket goes with them. Maybe a blazer plus tan/green chinos required…! Good job I bought two large Samsonite cases…
  17. As far as I know, polo shirts fit the requirement… do I buy a jacket to go with them… bought a dinner suit for the posh nights and managed to persuade the OH to get a couple of frocks. Well, I bought them.
  18. 33 days to go for my first crossing. Should I be getting excited?
  19. Note also the Cunard site now clarifies Cunard today have clarified this as well - in line with what Hattie said: Guests who have had one booster vaccine, regardless of the date, are considered fully vaccinated. At this time, a second booster vaccination is not required, however, we strongly recommend all guests to have booster vaccinations at the earliest opportunity, should they be available to them, in order to comply with evolving vaccine policies from the countries we visit.
  20. Yes you are correct. It's all a bit clearer today - from the site: "Some voyages will have enhanced testing requirements due to the length of cruise, ports of call, or the ship’s onward destination. Only guests sailing on these longer or more complex itineraries, will be required to have an observed or in-person lateral flow/antigen test and provide a fit-to-travel certificate before departure" And it lists the difference requirements for different cruises/crossings https://www.cunard.com/en-gb/the-cunard-experience/sailing-with-confidence/preparing-to-sail/requirements-by-voyage
  21. Ah I see. The “course” is the original 2. Thanks. Wonder who they mean to be contacting from 5th Sept (see my original post)
  22. I assume that’s what they’ll say as they ain’t going to stop 30%, 40%, 50% of passengers - but they still have a 270 day rule on website…
  23. Only just over 6 weeks! But the Cunard Covid policy is concerning as our jabs will be over 270 days ago and unlikely to be boosted in next 5 weeks… staying for a few nights in NYC… love the place!
  24. Looking at Cunard website it says this; ^If more than 270 days (calculated from the last day of the cruise) have passed since the full completion of a vaccination course, a booster vaccine will also be needed and must be administered a minimum of seven days prior to travel. My OH and I had boosters (3rd jab) last November and December. Being over 50 we should get a booster sometime this autumn, but we are already over 270 days and may not get boosters in the next 6 weeks. Site also says; “Guests on voyages after 5 September 2022 whose vaccine and testing requirements differ from the below policy will be contacted directly for their upcoming holiday” Wonder what this means? By our October 18th trip a good proportion of the passengers will be outside 270 days and unable to get boosters as under 50, or eligible but can’t get booster in time (booking only starts this coming week, and will work down through the ages) anyone have any more info? I will ring them this week - after 5th - not going to wait to be told can’t go.., (interestingly NHS Travel Pass has date 6 months from now, and I guess that’s a rolling date)
