  1. Oh I agree and I have never worried about it myself either. It's just fun to watch the cruise lines scramble when the storms are out there and try to replace ports or just plow through them.
  2. Here in New England we have been having Florida type downpours(but not the humidity)for weeks that has kept our grass green and growing all summer long. Hey if we have a serious storm or two out there along the coast when we sail maybe they will reroute us to Greenland then Myriam will have to buy another suitcase just for your coats, sweaters, gloves, and hats!🤣
  3. Now the fun begins with possible last minute itinerary changes for cruises in the Caribbean!🤔 https://www.msn.com/en-in/weather/topstories/four-tropical-cyclones-form-as-the-peak-of-the-atlantic-hurricane-season-hits/ar-AA1fzk92
  4. Most of the articles/videos I have seen about Tomodoro center around their lunch sandwiches of which there are three. Here is a good video about the breakfast offering which you may not have seen yet. https://youtu.be/2lFSV6hsE7Y
  5. But then I just noticed that they don't open until 4pm local time and we are departing Barbados at 5pm, so I would use the Tripadvisor site to find other restaurants that are open on Saturday during the day in that area(or in Bridgetown)that may be as good or even better.
  6. Thanks! There are a lot of good restaurants/grills right along Oistens Bay in Barbados so with the help of your photos(note the green picnic tables still there in their photos), I believe I have narrowed it down to Uncle George's. Here is the Tripadvisor page for it and it is ranked #3 out of 28 restaurants in Oistens Bay. We will be in Barbados on a Saturday so with Friday being their busiest day/night there should be all fresh fish on Saturday. Note: they do not have an active website. https://www.tripadvisor.com/Restaurant_Review-g1183194-d4010980-Reviews-Uncle_George-Oistins_Christ_Church_Parish_Barbados.html
  7. Good morning @JOHN 57. Not sure if we will see the new Carnival dinner menus on our cruise as the Venezia is one of two ships with no start up date set yet according to this article from today. https://cruiseindustrynews.com/cruise-news/2023/08/carnival-confirms-dates-for-fleetwide-rollout-of-new-dining-menus/
  8. Some of the residents of Holyhead, Wales this past Tuesday had no interest in seeing neither the pax or the crew taking photos from any deck on that "Monstrosity"! 😄 https://www.dailypost.co.uk/news/north-wales-news/amazing-monstrosity-mammoth-cruise-ship-27533382
  9. The Pier 21 cam pans back and forth across Halifax city center and when it goes all the way to the right it ends up at the pier where you can see the ship.
  10. Well it's 9:15AT in Halifax and the Venezia as predicted has just popped up on the webcam view. This cam unlike many of the others is not a good livestream but you can still watch the progress.
  11. Tomorrow, August 17 the Venezia is scheduled to dock by 10am in Halifax, Nova Scotia and stay there for a port visit until 6pm. This is a link to the Halifax harbor webcam where the ship should come into view around 30-45 minutes before docking. There are many other webcams on this site to view too at popular tourist spots in NS such as the Maritime Museum, Pier 21, Peggy's Cove, Lunenburg, etc... https://www.novascotiawebcams.com/webcams/harbour-entrance
  12. Not surprised with that. Look at all the back tracking HAL has had to do over the last three weeks with their roll out on the AARP OBC deal, which would seem simple compared to scheduling cruise itineraries two years out. Hopefully they are fine tuning everything with this before the official roll out.
  13. Here are the daily Fun Times from the June and July 8 day cruises from NYC on the Venezia, thanks to Saint Greg's Travels. The first three days(departure day and two sea days)are like the start of our cruise so I think you will find these schedules to be very close to ours for those days with some different entertainment likely, and the different CD. After that the only port that both they had and we have is Grand Turk so I think the schedule while we are docked there may be similar. Note that their two cruise elegant nights were on the first sea day and the last sea day. https://www.saintgregtravel.com/carnival-venezia-june-19-2023/ https://www.saintgregtravel.com/carnival-venezia-july-5-2023/
  14. Each Carnival ship has a Military Appreciation Day which is promoted in the Fun Times daily planner, and a large American Flag will be displayed in the atrium of the ship on that day. The day has usually been on the final sea day on most of the 7 day cruise planner schedules that I have seen but in the case of the Venezia they have been having it on the second sea day out of NYC on the 8 day cruises to the Caribbean from there. So the second sea day(Sun 10/1)at 10:30am in the Teatro Rosso theater would be my guess for our cruise. I am not sure if they would also have a second one on the second week of our cruise. As for the free cruise giveaway, as I understand it veterans would have their key card scanned and entered into the monthly drawing(fleet wide)for a free cruise. Also of note to veterans is the Your Time: veterans meeting which has been held at 10am on the first sea day in The Heroes Bar which is right before a possible M&G by this group around the same area at 11am(Sat 9/30).
  15. Right now the only thing showing for departures out of Boston by HAL for 2025 is the 35 day VOV cruise leaving on July 19, 2025. Surely more sailings are in the queue.
  16. No problem John! No matter where and when we meet you can still be our Admiral, as you have been right along, overseeing things as we plan our Caribbean landing invasions.😉
  17. But it is on the same deck as the casinos for those who want to give their $$ to the CCL Charitable Foundation.🙂
  18. Sounds like you should have stock in that lounge.😉 The best I can offer is my brother-in-law who is a retired Navy Captain(Vietnam and Desert Shield/Storm). Also a couple of cousins who were in the Marines and saw action In Vietnam (one dying there)along with a couple of other lower ranked Navy, Air Force relatives. My Dad was an Army Sargent in the 45th Infantry Thunderbirds Division during WW2 and was injured during the battle of Anzio in Italy, so no one wanted to follow those footsteps!
  19. There is no direct access from the Heroes Bar to the outside deck though so that nixes the idea of just casually stepping in and out while we are mingling. Here is a short video of the Heroes Bar https://youtube.com/shorts/9QF2akva3UY?feature=share
  20. Ironically I was thinking like you Harriet and was going to suggest Saturday the 30th around 11am(or even a little before) between breakfast/late sleep-in and before lunch/bars/casino/pool and other afternoon activities really get going. I was also going to suggest the area on the Mezzanine deck 4 starboard outside(weather permitting)around mid-ship just outside of the Heroes Tribute Bar knowing that John has already talked about spending time outside on that deck after he posted photos of it earlier in this thread. But then that doesn't provide much for seating so maybe it could be in and outside of that bar area, or some similar area away from the congestion of the pool/buffet areas on other decks. https://www.cruisedeckplans.com/DP/deckplans/deckbydeck.php?ship=Carnival-Venezia&deck=4
  21. Here is the 2015 version aboard the Noordam from an online article about dining on HAL...
