  1. Sounds like there will be three sailaway's under the stars.🌠

  3. An interesting timing dynamic happening here with today's positive press on CCL just as their newest (remodeled) ship Carnival Venezia arrives stateside in NYC tomorrow morning and their conference call in two weeks with analysts set for 10am on the 26th to discuss 2nd qtr. financial results https://www.reuters.com/business/autos-transportation/carnival-leads-gains-cruise-stocks-analysts-eye-strong-travel-demand-2023-06-12/.
  4. I agree and as I have said before they have good record keeping of those who have sailed with them. Remember for the 150th anniversary they created a website listing passengers who sailed with them going back to over 120 years ago!! So yes if you haven't sailed in years is one thing considered, if you spent a lot while onboard especially beyond any OBC you have received is another, and then if you haven't sailed with them but are known to have sailed with another CCL line could be another maybe if that basic info is shared.
  5. And many others who have received these offers haven't spent money in the casinos either. My question would be how much did they spend in other areas, excursions, specialty dining, in the shops, etc...on previous cruises? I have come to believe that that algorithms used for selection maybe based on your onboard spending habits overall, and that they hope that once your onboard that you will be spending even more because you paid so little for the cruise.
  6. Correct the Wajang Theater is not a great place to watch a movie no matter what your height is as the lower part of the main screen cannot be seen by anyone past the first couple of rows. For cooking demos it is fine but those are very far and few between.
  7. The HAL Zaandam still has its Wajang Theater which was used recently for screening movies and was also used for cooking demos by Chef Jacques Torres on it's cruise up to Canada from FLL this year. The ship still has it's 'old school' HAL library too.
  8. From the Sydney port schedule. The Prima was heading across to Europe and this was it's first time in Sydney(hence the *). NCL rarely has a ship docking here until the Fall season.
  9. After having the main dock at Sydney, Nova Scotia all to itself for the first three weeks of the 2023 season the HAL Zaandam had to play second fiddle(🙂) to the NCL Prima on May 17th and docked at the secondary Liberty Pier. It was a raw rainy day and the extra long walk for HAL passengers probably kept some from leaving the ship at all. The top left pic shows the view from the little Z of the Prima and the bottom right pic shows a closeup of one of the Prima's tenders/lifeboats which has a capacity of 355 pax which means that just 4 of them could basically hold all the pax on the Z!! (4 x 355=1420!!). We did get back on our onboard accounts $71 in port fees/taxes at the end of the cruise which I suspect was because of this.
  10. Some travel advisors views on the Carnival restructuring... https://www.travelweekly.com/Cruise-Travel/Travel-advisors-view-Carnival-reorg-favorably
  11. Well then those old HAL ships would be a perfect fit for the Kingdom considering how many reviews and posts in CC over many years that have complained about cabin AC systems not working right and fans being used on the ships.
  12. I imagine that the air conditioning systems in the terminals and on the ships would be a top priority.🙂
  13. Whatever the problem was determined to be it affected around 5 dozen people, HAL's medical team recognized it and put into action a plan to neutralize the problem. Even if it had occurred here the numbers didn't qualify it to be reported to the CDC. I pointed out the 100% score to re-emphasize the good job that the ships crew has been doing overall. End of story as it should have been weeks ago, or at least to the next breakout which as history shows will happen again at some point.
  14. Well HAL for example has 15 decades of organizational experience but based on some comments seen in here on a fairly regular basis it still is a work in progress. If the Saudi's were running the operation some heads would roll and maybe literally.🙂
  15. Well the 3 lines that after the restructuring are working alone and without partners are Aida, Costa, and Princess. So eventually shedding the two European lines Aida and Costa could be in the future plans.
  16. I have been following this story for awhile now with friends in South Africa who have shared their personal stories of how SA's energy crisis is affecting everyone. https://menafn.com/1106349753/South-Africas-Power-Crisis-Is-A-Warning-For-The-World
  17. MSC has for some time now been going after one of the hottest trends in cruising, the solo passenger. They have continually offered dozens of cruises with a 0% single supplement along with other SS reductions on every one of their cruises.
  18. I have said many times on here that CCL is dismantling Costa ship by ship. That will make it easier to merge or sell off what's left when the time comes to abandon ship! (pun intended)
  19. If they have the organization and $$$$ to build new ports why would they not just have new ships built for them too.🤔
  20. The announcement may have helped raise the CCL stock price this week to it's highest close since one year ago in June.
  21. If that happens I would expect a lot of golfing shore excursions added.😀
  22. and has reorganized their brands in a corporate restructuring of the world's largest cruise company. https://www.travelweekly.com/Cruise-Travel/Carnival-Corp-reorganizes-brands-under-corporate-structure
  23. So with the last post you just made you finally gave some credence to this subject on the claim of Noro on the Rotterdam, though the N word does not appear anywhere in the statement from HAL and I wouldn't expect it to be in there. Two things of note, based on a pax report in the original thread claiming to be told that there were around 60 people affected by the illness(Noro or other)that would amount to being just under the 3% threshold that the CDC has set for outbreak reports to be published if the ship was in US ports which it was not. The other thing of note is that the Rotterdam just received a perfect 100% score on it's VSP ship inspection on March 8 of this year.
