I would recommend a spacious ocean view cabin. Having traveled on Serenade last fall it worked really well for my family as it provided a "separate" sleeping area for one child on a twin bed and the couch pulled out for second bed as well as the "king" for us. I also think the extra storage was a life saver with all the extra gear. I realize it's not a balcony but having done both cabins with a similar situation on different ships this was the best option for space (sqf.) and sleeping arrangements aside from connecting balcony rooms.

Welcome to Cruise Critic, or should I say Happy First Post! -
Buying drink at Amsterdam port.

If I remember correctly there is a duty free just after you go through the EU immigration lines. Be sure to leave plenty of time the line can be quite long depending on the time of day. -

Welcome to Cruise Critic! I'm not surprised. It is designed for families..... -
@twangster I enjoy everyone of the threads you post. This one may be the best yet! Your opinions, advice and observations are always appreciated. Thank you for documenting this trip in such a detailed manner. It was an amazing and stunning read. You provided a window into a world I may never get to experience (other than Nat Geo). Cheers to you and thanks again for investing the incredible amount of time I know it took to do this.

would you be willing to pass a few messages to 3 crew members? 1. Abigail at the Sky Bar. " Hello from Tim & Abigail!, We hope she and "Isaac" are doing well!" 2. Herran the Maître d' at Giovanni's. IMO she runs that restaurant like a top! 3. I honestly forget his name. he is a "very well manicured" server in Giovanni's. My 5yo daughter left him with a collection of her paw patrol toys and coloring book. She was curious if he was enjoying them still? She gave them to him because he said he watched paw patrol off duty in his cabin. Thanks In advance! On the repo cruise the food was mediocre at best and I definitely mentioned it in my survey in great detail. Hopefully the feedback from myself and others is starting to make a difference. It was obvious to me in speaking with the senior culinary team that they were aware of the issue and trying to slowly correct it. Unfortunately, they are limited in some ways by the quality of what is provisioned to them.

Winning over a skeptical first time cruiser

As a dad of a 5 year old I would absolutely choose Wonder. The on board splash pad and "kid activities" are worth it. As stated above 7 nights over 5 every time! Sometimes 7 nights feels like it's just getting started before it's time to line up the bags in the hallway. -
Splashaway bay height requirement

We have done Odyssey, Symphony, Voyager and Serenade (just last month) over the last two years. Our 45" 5 Year old was denied slides without an adult sliding with her on each ship . YMMV ! Good luck -

on the ships the slides even in the kids splash area it is 48" with exception to the smallest splash area for toddlers (They do measure). On CC there is a kids slide area that is under 48" but it contains 4 smaller slides. -
Definitely not imagining things. I only noticed because she was right next to me. It actually caught me off guard as I hadn't seen it before. She pulled out her check book and wrote it out.

It was a noticeable difference on the Repo. AO said 57 total aboard 0-13. One was mine. Sorry I did not get to run into you. I looked for the sweat shirt.

Serenade of the Seas waterslide
Td6462 replied to SwimCarrie's topic in Royal Caribbean International
My wife had to go with our DD last week because she wasn't big enough. I also did see many kids get stuck and several other adults (parents) doing the slide. It's not big but it certainly is a slide with it's own mini landing pool. -
I also witnessed this on the last Serenade cruise TPA to BOS at Guest Services.

Serenade has also altered course on the way to Boston. Waiting advisory update from captain. Departure from Coco Cay came with announcement that we would be heading farther east to "avoid the worst of the storm".
