  1. We moved house and didn't tell them where!
  2. What would happen if they moved you to what they considered an equal or better cabin but it was near a 'noisy' spot, ie near the theatre, night club etc?
  3. I realise that the cruise companies are a law unto themselves. My point is that whatever way you look at it, in the business world if you change an item that is bought/booked and paid for it is a contract between you and the company. If the company chooses to change it without any notification/discussion then the contract has been broken. That is a simple commercial fact. Why are cruise companies getting away with it?
  4. My point is ANY change of cabin if you have paid select for a certain cabin and ticked no upgrade then it is breaking your contract with P&O. I wonder if anyone has taken them to court on this point.
  5. Thats ok as long as you like sand brought in and a tiny area to sit on. I am always suprised to see adverts for Malta with beautiful beaches when there are only three or so...and they are a long bus ride from the berth point and Valletta.
  6. The cruise industry seems to be a law unto itself. In any business you pay for a specific item and if that item is changed then it is breaking a contract. You sign and pay for a particular cabin (in advance unlike many businesses) then if you are changed to another cabin, either better or worse, the cruiseline has broken its contract. How the hell do they get away with it?
  7. Would you suggest places like Malta, Barcelona , Cadiz etc are attractive destinations for young children then? I have the feeling that P&O are aiming at families with young children who don't want to leave the ship as I cannot see that a large percentage of ports are designed for young children.
  8. Thank you. Having visited a couple of times I Knew that but I meant to Gerainger. Where the Iona turns you cannot even see Gerainger as it is round a corner.
  9. The ferry was approx £56. It is recommended by the port authority (which happens to be the same for both Hellysylt and Gerainger). I don't know about the P&O one as I was not aware of one.
  10. We have Britannia in 3 weeks to the Baltic and again in 2024 to Norway. That is all at present. We are looking at our favourite 'land' holiday in Malta, a place we visited twice a year pre-covid. Cost is £1800 for two weeks, balcony, sea view ,all inc. at a five star hotel. Travelling we have a ten min trip to the airport and transfers are included in Malta. Great prices.
  11. I have to say that my observation on the 'regular' cruisers on CC are either very rich (in pensions or jobs) or possibly have not been on as many cruises as they say. It would seem that the lucky ones spend many thousands a year on their cruises but surely the cost of living crisis will hit us all.
  12. To go from Hellysylt to Gerainger you need to use the ferry which apparently costs around £60. The only problem being that the ferry appears not to be punctual at times and you may miss the ship. It is the recommended way to go by the local port authorities.
  13. The summer break at USA schools is usually about late May to late August The other school holidays are only a few days at a time.
  14. Personally like both Indy and Britannia. I don't know if they are classed as big ships or not. The only thing I liked about Iona was the Quays. I thought that for such a large ship it had very little in it...no ice shows, no crazy golf etc.
  15. As far as things go, that is correct and larger ships probably do make bigger and more sustainable profits when the vessel is not full. Of course things may be very different in the near future. If the forcaston the energy and econamy is correct then less people will have money for cruising. Another pandemic would hit the market as well. Another point to consider is the climate and as more countries turn 'green' the more may well banlage cruise ships from their ports (as is happening in Norway and Venice). There is a lot for cruise lines to consider including fuel costs!
  16. No. Your comment is a little unfair to Fred as it makes it look as if the vessel has stopped cruising. It has not and returns before Christmas. Would you say Iona has pulled out of Norways ports because it missed umpteen this year? Be fair.
  17. They have not pulled the ship out of service, they have cancelled 4 cruises.
  18. Much rather have that than Gary Barlow crooning over a meal and making me regurgitate!
  19. Self service buffets are already here!
  20. Apparently it does not go past Gerainger but only to the Seven Sisters.
  21. Obviously you have never been on that ship. Sprinklies are well known as the free ice creams you get from machines on the deck. They come in three flavours (separate or mixed ) and are famous with RC cruisers. They are very good, and popular.
  22. Thank you. Just what we needed!. We have been on Britannia before and it was brilliant. Looking forward to it.
  23. I know this is partly a repeat of the questions I asked previously. Firstly, can anyone who has just been on Britannia to the Baltic tell us about the free shuttle buses in the ports. Secondly, what is it like on board now and did you keep to the scheduled itinery? Thanks in advance.
  24. The two favourites of mine are the Indy and the Britannia. The former is probably number 1 as we have been on her more and love the entertainment AND THE SPRINKLIES!!!
