Taxi or Uber is likely going to be much cheaper than the Princess transfers. Especially if you have more than 2 passengers. They will charge you $X * 4 for their bus, the Uber/cab costs the same for 1, 2, 3, or 4 people.

Heimey has some great RIB boat excursions you should be able to book directly. They cancel them in bad weather -- we had wind on our day there a few years back and all tours were canceled (as was our ferry back to the mainland), but we were there in September and it gets windy in Iceland around that time. We had a car and explored the island, loved it, but the RIB boat would have been a blast

Hi, Has anyone seen Hadestown, wondering what you thought of the show?
Hundreds of reviews here: https://www.show-score.com/broadway-shows/hadestown-broadway
You will get much more info from a site like that then just a few replies here. IE: @George C liked it. I didn't like it. My wife thought it was ok. But Show Score gives you more info, like things to compare it to. Casts change, too, so my experience may be quite different than yours. For instance, we LOVED Hamilton almost every time we saw it. But one time we attended, the actor playing Hamilton didn't have the same charisma, so we didn't think it was as good.

Me, I'd walk it. Of course if you have too much luggage that's out, but your best alternative is a taxi. You could check www.straeto.is which is the public bus service to see if they cover your route. You'd need their app or cash to pay, I believe

Jack is right. July has daylight for 24 hours.
Anything erupting now will likely be done before July. And another one may or may not be going off during your visit.
I wouldn't book anything volcano related more than a week ahead of time.

Any Idea how much a Taxi runs from the Port in Reykjavik to the Airport? Thanks for your reply.
Usually runs $125-$150, per reports on TripAdvisor. No tipping in Iceland, you pay the metered fare
-
If we are talking Reykjavik, there are taxis, but the Flybus is usually a much better price, unless you are more than 3 people

It is interesting that the ship lost power less than 30 minutes after leaving port. I realize sh** happens, but you'd think that they wouldn't leave the dock if there were questions about the electrical power.
This kind of "I don't know anything but what if" questions is what ends up going nowhere positive. According to folks who KNOW things, the current theory is that the ship lost power, which means it loses navigation. Things do break, even though they are tested all the time

Power issue with the ship seems to be what happened. Pieces of garbage political talkers are blaming everything else they can think of, instead.

Wouldn't be too sure about the price-- just ran a week through Logan's parking system. It came to $287 for the main lots and $224 for the Economy lot. There might be some third party lots that could be less but $120 per week expectation is going to result in disappointment...
The suggestion was not for an Official site but one of the local companies off site options

Can you link to a description? There *are* some harder hikes in the area, depending on what is included, but it can also be a very sedate tour

I might prebuy Hamilton tickets , we have never seen it . Back to the future is across the street from our hotel , anyone see that ?
This is a good site to get an idea about shows
Has all the professional reviews plus individuals review shows and you get nice summaries of what they are about

You also do not want to drive to Boston - train or plane is the way to get there.
This is true, but I think since they are leaving a car for a week it isn't a rental, no one parks a rental in a lot for a week. Do they?
-
Use SpotHero or your favorite parking app to find the best priced parking option that won't be hard to get back to your car from the port
If you are touring Boston from away, you don't want or need a rental car in the city
-
I'd just tour on my own, it's an easy city to get around in. Get downtown, use any of the online luggage storage services, or offer a bellman at a hotel a nice tip to store all your bags.
You can also buy a ticket on the Rowes Wharf Ferry that goes to the airport and they will hold your bags all day for you included in the fare

Specific dates and budget in USD are much easier to work with than phrases like "won't require a second mortgage"

There will be cabs at the pier. Also places to rent bikes and the nearest beaches are in walking distance. There is also shopping and good food in town and the Gingerbread Houses in Oak Bluffs are worth a visit

Thanks we often use TripAdvisor and have had mostly good experiences with the companies that they promote. Will check them out for Iceland.
Happy Thursday 🙂
Don't go by who they promote, those are just ads, and don't book thru them as they are a third party. Use the Iceland Forum where travelers discuss touring options and book directly with a local provider

We did Quebec City to New York (port stop in Boston) in late Sept this past year. The port in Quebec City puts you right below the historic old city and Citadel, the Boston port is in a huge industrial area - UGLY and expensive to get out of and see the sights that aren't 'the Freedom Trail.' I'd pick QC any day for your preferred hotel stay dates. Technically if your fairly able-bodied (it's quite hilly) you can walk off the ship with your luggage (if you aren't a take-it-all person) and up to your studio apartment or heritage hotel right by the Citadel and walk everywhere in the old town. Foliage was very late this past season and really no difference between the two areas in that respect.
It's literally less than a 10 minute walk from the Boston Cruise Port to the waterfront, with lots of attractions like restaurants (Yankee Lobster) or Harpoon Brewery, and 5 minutes more to tons of shops, siteseeing boats, etc.
And the Silver Line of the MBTA is RIGHT AT the cruisedock. Less than $3/ride, gets you to Faneuil Hall or the Freedom Trail or Fenway Park, etc.

St Patrick's Parade is mostly locals, not as many tourists or visiting participants as something like the Thanksgiving Parade. I wouldn't expect it to have much affect on hotel prices

Has anyone hiked up Eldfell Mountain on Heimaey (off the coast of Iceland)? If so, how difficult was it for you?
It's pretty steep and if the sun is shining, it is surprisingly warm there. Great views from the top (or even halfway up) but I'd only do it if I had alot of tiem on the Island, there is so much esle to see and do there

Would you please tell us which company you used for your minivan tour? Thinking of doing the same.
Thanks in advance,
Sue
It was enough years ago that I won't mention them as they may no longer be as good as they once were. If you visit the Iceland forum at Tripadvisor, you will see the same few agencies recommended over and over again
Djupivogur & Heimaey, Westman Islands shore excursions
in Iceland and Greenland

I wouldn't be surprised if fellow cruisers had booked them all in advance. They cancel when it's windy
