hi, thank you for posting a picture, but I'm not getting a picture from lele100's link, just seeing a black box. does anyone know why this might be or can help me to be able to see it? TIA 🙂

Look on eBay for Carnival Platinum. May say bag or gray bag.

  3. I looked thru some of your other posts and I'm guessing you'll be on the Liberty. I believe Liberty also has Guys Burgers (hamburgers, fries, toppings) and Blue Iguana Cantina (tacos, burritos, toppings, salsas) that are both included at no charge.

I highly recommend looking at the Carnival website thoroughly for ship info and also printing out a deck plan beforehand to get familiar with layout so you don't lose precious ship time.

My first cruise i spent the entire 5 days completely lost.

OK all you that know everything! :classic_biggrin:

We are sailing on Thanksgiving day.  WE have FTTF.   I have read several places, that the parking garage does not allow parking until 11:30am.  If that is the case, why get FTTF?  OR is there a special area for FTTF and Platinum?  I am debating paying a hotel to park our car, get an uber over to the port if that is the case, because we could get there earlier than 11:30.

      Anyone have any input?

There is WAY more to FTTF than embarkation time...

Ship time is the same time as the port you are embarking from. That time never changes.  Local time is of course the local time of the port you are in that day. Tour companies know what time the ships are in and will use SHIP time as a pickup time.

This is incorrect - ships do change times from original port and may or may not match local time. When we did Panama Canal cruise ship changed time 4 or 6 times during cruise.

  6. I don’t understand why so many posters mention/criticize the lack of network stations on Carnival ships. Maybe I cruise the wrong way, but in 22 cruises on Carnival I have never stayed in my room to watch TV. There are too many things going on around the ship that I would much rather be doing.

I don't think there is a 'wrong' way or 'right' way to cruise, I think folks tend to do what THEY enjoy rather than what some one online TELLS them they are supposed to enjoy.

  7. Not to hijack the thread but I'm surprised they give you grief over scissors.

From website up to 4" blades are permitted:

    • Scissors with blades longer than four (4) inches (Large scissors of the type used by scrapbook and quilting enthusiasts are at times permitted with prior notification from the Security Services Department, but are held on board in the same manner as dive knives.)

It seems every post this person makes is negative. If you want to be so nasty, try That OTHER social media, where people like this post frequently. But most people on cruise critic are planning wonderful vacations and are happy and excited!

Indeed! It must be awfully sad being so bitter about every aspect of cruising... Ships are clunkers, ports are lousy, etc.

  9. Freeport is not worthy of leaving the ship

I wish I'd known this! I've been enjoying snorkeling, free beach, jewelry shopping, Greek food, casino, the square at Lucaya...

RogBus101 - hey! I've actually sailed with you before. Don't remember exactly when but at the meet & greet some game we played had you going to each person individually and introducing yourself.

Anyway - cabs have been easy to come by every time I've been in Freeport at the port and at the casino where I grab one to get back to port.

  10. You picked 3 clunkers and an old ship.

Since apparently you've sailed on all four ships, which would you say is better?

Cruisesmakemehappy - of your list I've only sailed Valor and Paradise, with Ecstasy booked later this year. I'm an older lady and loved the decor of Paradise - a lot of Tiffany blue, old Hollywood type. I think the Valor would appeal more to young folks even though to me it felt like I was always in a line for something.

  11. Getting lots of harassing phone calls from Carnival. Earnings are down this quarter, shareholders not happy.

When you go to their website, algorithms knows you have been looking, hence harassing phone calls in the middle of the night. Either call block or give then a bogus number !! Ha !! Ha !!

    1-305-599-2600

Harassing calls in the middle of the night? Really?

Like, a gravely voice saying 'book a cruise or I'll bust your kneecaps'?

  12. I've received 2 email and 1 phone call upsells for our upcoming cruise. I accepted first one for $70, would have cost $360 otherwise IIRC. Second was for $70, but was only a $10 saving than if I had just done it on my own, I declined. Can't remember details of 3rd offer but I declined anyway.

But, we are booked Early Saver and if I hadn't accepted the original upsell we'd have almost $500 in OBC now.

I'm retrospect I wish I'd just stayed with the original port hole :( .
