  1. I don't understand the anger towards the rules for cheers (or Carnival's right to not make exceptions). Cheers will not work for everyone!

The wife and I spend about $75 on average per cruise day on drinks, so for us it is cheaper to pay as we go than to buy cheers. I am not offended that Carnival doesn't have a drink package that works for us. :)

  2. Yes nice dress shorts are fine for regular nights! :)

    Here is an official link:

    Cruise Casual Dress Code

    • Men: sport slacks, khakis, Jeans (no cut-offs), dress shorts (long) and collared polo shirts
    • Women: summer dresses, casual skirts, pants, capris, dress shorts, Jeans (no cut-offs) blouses and tops
    • Not permitted: Cut-off Jeans, men’s sleeveless shirts, tee-shirts, gym or basketball shorts, baseball hats, flip-flops and bathing suit attire

  3. The cars, drivers, and entire experience are much better than taxis, not to mention the ease of using the app.

However, please be aware that around rush hour and other busy times the rates can go up to double the normal price.

  4. I know there are a lot of folks who prefer to use cash for their Sign and Sail, but it is so much easier to just use a credit (NOT debit) card.

Just pay off your balance every month, and there are no finance charges. It's not that hard to get a credit card, even if you have weaker credit scores. :)

  5. Ahhh ... the passport question ... To leave or to take?

So many opinions. Mine is this: I NEVER step on foreign soil without ORIGINAL proof of USA citizenship. You CANNOT use a paper copy of a document to enter the country so people that think all they need is a copy are mistaken.

I safeguard my passport just like I safeguard my S&S card, my credit cards, and my cell phone.

I paid all that money for the passport, I will USE it for it's intended purpose, which is proof of being American while visiting other countries.

You would never hear a European tour company advise you to leave your passport in a hotel safe while travelling, I'm puzzled why so many people think it's "ok" to leave this document on the ship.....

But again, we all have our opinions :)

    Cheers!

Not heckling, serious question: Have you ever traveled in Europe? Do you know what happens to your passport there?

Here's a hint: you don't keep it with you until you change where you are sleeping. I am sleeping on the ship, therefore my passport stays there.

  6. Not sure how serious you are saying that a sailing 2 years out is filling up.

You know that there is a chance that ship won't even be sailing out of the same port, right?

I am lucky if I know 4 months in advance when I can take a vacation, and have never had a problem booking a good cabin :)

  7. May I ask why you asked whether the local LEO's boarded the vessel or not? When a ship is in the territorial waters of a country, both the flag state and the port state (the country the ship is in port) have jurisdiction over the vessel. Since these two jurisdictions overlap, and may not be compatible legally, the solution is that the port state will not exercise its jurisdiction unless the "foreign vessel threatens the port state or when activities on board the foreign vessel disturb the peace and tranquility of the port". Fighting on the ship can be considered disturbing to the peace of the port, and certainly the ship can request assistance from the port state at any time, so local LEO's have the right to make arrests aboard cruise ships flying the flag of another country.

That is exactly why I asked :) I was wondering if Carnival security prefers to meet authorities at the door instead of having them come on board to secure the individuals. Not questioning the jurisdiction, but wondering if it adds paperwork or other procedural operations that could be circumvented if they met on the dock.

  8. You say 2 couples started fighting, you mean one couple (man/woman) were fighting with another couple? Or did you mean that one couple were fighting with each other?

Also, did the authorities actually board the ship or did they meet Carnival security at the door?

    Thanks for the clarification :)
