  1. Back from 7 weeks on the water from the Pacific to Alaska, on to Asia, the Med and finally the Atlantic. 7 weeks of pure bliss ignoring all the crap going on around our doomed planet. MY worthless opinion is at the end of the day Mickey, Donald, Duffy & Co (ain't it hilarious Carnival is run by a bunch of real-life cartoon-named characters?) will be laughing all the way to the bank and poor old Joe Blow, the individual investor, will be left counting his losses. I would expect a reincarnation of sorts from the Arisons. Mark my words. Like I said, just MY worthless opinion.
  2. ARRIVECAN ~ Final questions before my B2B2B on the Splendor & thank you to everyone who helped with my other questions. Leaving next week for my B2B2B on the Splendor 8/2 through 8/23 out of Seattle with a stop in Victoria, British Columbia. I understand that one has to fill out ARRIVECAN info before arrival in Canada. In all probability due to the late arrival and departure from Victoria, BC, I will not even be getting off the ship on any of the 3 cruises.....been there before numerous times. But from what I understand, that is immaterial as ARRIVECAN MUST BE filled out regardless of staying on the ship or not. I am a US citizen. My questions are: 1) Am I correct in understanding that ARRIVECAN must be filled no matter if one is staying on the ship or getting off the ship in Canada? 2) Do I have to do it every single time for the 3 cruises or will one time suffice for all 3 cruises within a 3 week period? 3) Am I correct in understanding there is a CAD$65 charge for this? Just trying to determine if our friend Trudeau is going to take me for one-time charge of CAD$65 or that amount x3 !!! lol...lol...lol Thanks.
  3. Sure, this one was a PDF file but I am certain that in the past I have sent files in the JPG format as well and they had no problem opening either format.
  4. lolol....Joe.....I know so many people who would beg to differ....lol....😍 πŸ˜πŸ˜ƒ So yesterday I met my friend Jose, you know, the guy who gave me that invaluable relationship advice.....in gratitude, every time I see him, I always sing the Star Spangled Banner for him: JOSE can you see..............! lol lol lol Always a pleasure exchanging a Hello with you here.

  6. So very true, LH, no rhythm, no pattern, no consistency, no inconsistency.....no nothing! So in a nutshell, my playing the part of Sherlock Holmes was an exercise in futility ... lol...lol...lol
  7. OP, much like my friend Joe said, do not hesitate, book them and book them NOW for as many as your time to get away will allow. I am thinking that with today's CDC announcement of the end of testing requirements that the days of insane offers like these may be coming to a close! I know I am scrambling to see what else I can find through the end of this year for cheap before my run of good luck comes to an end!
  8. Special rates reserved solely for current and/or former employees of the travel industry. They essentially get the lowest rate, MOST of the time.
  9. I am so jealous for your gamblers............in a nice way of course! Congratulations to OP and all who get these wonderful deals, take the deals up while they are coming, I suppose that once cruising is back to "business as usual", we will all be paying through the nose for a cruise, on the other hand, I hope that is not the case because I am getting used to sub $100 7-day cruises when all is said and done! I travel solo, so anytime anyone of you guys needs a cruise buddy, give me a holler! πŸ˜„
  10. Just like you said, my money, my choice! I know better than to get drawn into an argument with you, I have seen you in action on plenty of your posts. I certainly do not need YOUR kind of financial advice. Just sayin'. Based on historical performance and not speculation, I feel confident the stock will rebound. I wish you the best of luck with YOUR investment.
  11. I beg to differ......I purchased my Carnival stock when they first went public.....over the years they TWICE had a 2for1 stock split so I am in at just under a $1 a share......plus the dividends they have historically always paid until this financial mess caused by Covid. Even at $8 a share I am still way ahead, let alone when the shares reached a high of what, $71 or so? I purchase my stock for the long term ROI not the obc, the latter is just icing on the cake. Hopefully Carnival will recover from the mess they are in, especially now being burdened with a debt of $35 billion, make that a Capital B !!! Not worth holding more than 100 shares you say???
  12. Check this link out Joe, I know you like trains.......I have visited this landmark a few times over the years .... before when it was derelict and also after being restored. It is about a 2-hour drive from me. The small "town" around the depot still stands and houses people. https://www.nps.gov/moja/learn/historyculture/kelso-depot.htm Now, do I get penalized for hijacking my own thread? lol
  13. I hear you about the heat Joe......primarily the reason I am going up North for those Alaska cruises next month. Don't let the Mrs. boss you around, Joe. My good friend Jose that I befriended many years ago when I moved here, told me once "Let me tell you something about women in this country, you have to teach them that MEN ALWAYS HAVE THE LAST WORD.......YES DEAR"......lol...lol...lol...As always, please pardon my attempt at humor, Joe.
  14. Do you want my VIFP #, see if it will let you book it for me, naturally if you are not going.
  15. I'm wondering if those being denied their Carnival shareholder benefit/onboard credit are the ones who may only have the minimum 100 shares. Perhaps those being denied can list the number of shares they own and maybe even those approved can do the same. Just an idea, perhaps it can establish a pattern, if there is one. I will get the ball rolling by saying that in my 70 odd cruises or so (the majority under the Carnival umbrella of cruiselines), I have never been denied/turned down. I own 3305 shares (started out with 2000 shares back in the 90's when Carnival had just gone public). Nowadays buying 100 shares at the current market price is very affordable and perhaps Carnival is trying to minimize the damage, though they can always up the ante by requesting say, 500 shares as a minimum vs 100 shares that has been the same for as long as I can remember. Just some food for thought.
  16. Joe, I have been living in LA 31 years now.....yesterday instead of paying for my Amtrak tickets over the phone or online/app I decided to take the Metro light rail to downtown LA Union Station and pick up the tickets from there. I have used Union station scores of times over these 31 years but never really bothered to just loiter around the station. Naturally it is an old and historic station, so I spent about an hour or so loitering around and talking to various Metro, Metro Link and Amtrak employees, one of them, she was a treasure trove of information about the station's historic past and gave me the 25 cent tour of the station including behind the scenes. Thought I would share that with you. Have a good weekend, buddy.
  17. Well Hello neighbor, or are you a neighborette? Just down the 210/134 from me!
  18. It will do just fine if you are going to submit it now. If it goes past 90 days old when you submit it, then you need an updated statement.
  19. Oh Golly, thanks so much NWCruise....that sounds like my ideal cruise! 68 degrees is fabulous, I may sleep in the theater then if my cabin does not go down cold enough....lol....☺️.....you are my favorite weatherman/gal....lol...yes, did I say how MUCH I LOVE the cold weather?!?! Thanks again and thanks also for the other day answering my Masala Tiger question, that is where I will be having my lunch 21 straight days in a row.....and I have a brand new bottle of 100 Gaviscon tablets to take care of the ensuing heartburn! rofl..lol..lmao πŸ˜…πŸ˜πŸ˜‚ That's ironic no, that I love the cold weather and then here I am a HUGE fan of some of the HOTTEST cuisine on the face of the planet: INDIAN!!!
  20. Re: my upcoming B2B2B to the Splendor 8/2 to 8/23. For those with first-hand knowledge who have recently been on the Splendor, if I may ask: 1) How was the ship's temperature kept inside the public areas, on the cool side or or on the warm side? I like it COLD, yes all Capitals, it can NEVER be cold enough for me and that is precisely why I want to get away to Alaska for 3 weeks from the stifling SoCal heat. 2) Has Alaska been warmer in general this season? I know I am talking 3-4 weeks from now and weather can change overnight but I would appreciate any feedback of what it has been like so far this season. Thank you guys.
  21. I hear ya, Cat. Yes, as far as I can tell the dirt cheap/almost free cabins have always been inside cabins although many times one finds good deals on oceanview and higher, the lucky ones are the cruisers who get the casino offers. Although let's put it this way, I am not complaining, for what I pay, they can put me up in the engine room or the brig.....as long as I am on ANYTHING that floats in the water, I am a happy, old man. And whatever cruiseline it is, I am fine with that, I love 'em all. PS: Where in LA are you, if I may ask? I am in the San Gabriel Valley.
  22. I love 'em all, I really have no favorite, 70+ cruises and NEVER had a bad cruise. I have NO loyalty towards ANY cruiseline, where I find the bargains, I go. And this past year has been especially good for bargains, 11x 7-day cruises so far! Believe it or not, all 11 cruises only cost me approximately $1700 out of pocket! Having said that, 7 out of those 11 cruises have been on Princess so thank you Princess for the insane deals this year.
  23. You too, have a great cruise.......Are you going to be on any of the 8/2, 8/9 or 8/16 sailings on the Splendor? PS: I suppose when a cheapo like me is only paying $30 base fare for the cruise, then having a single supplement for the SAME amount is something I can live with. But these kinds of cheapo fares like I have seen this last year, in my 50+ years of cruising I have never seen anything remotely like them, not even after 9/11 when there was a ton of deals offered to get people out of their shell and travelling again.
