  1. I suspect that what you guessed here, about your search not showing the cabins, could be the reason. I also think we'll have to see over time how often getting bumped happens. Since your two cabins are linked in their system, let's hope that the odds of your getting bumped are pretty small.
  2. Whatever anyone says about the other perks, don't believe them! It's to distract you. It's about the totes! 😃
  3. Ship services is 800-541-1576. I'm about to call them about my own issue. By the way, you can get a different PCC. I did that a few months ago, and am very pleased.
  4. Great to know that you got enough information to book a cruise! Hope it's a great one!
  5. You can probably find out about space on the Tracy Arm excursion by calling the excursion desk, 206-626-7320. When calling HAL, it's a bit of a chance whether you get someone who knows anything. For CO, maybe just try again. Even calling the various numbers for specific services, you might get a knowledgeable person or you might not. One number you might try is the "Centurion" number 888-425-7447; it's supposed to be for travel agents, but anyone can call. I used to get good results from the personal cruise consultant number, but lately I've gotten people who can't answer simple question.
  6. We also have some special request, but at times had different waiters in CO. It seems that the requests are passed on, so it always worked. I was told that the staff working CO are specially chosen from various cruises.
  7. For the cruise I am on in a couple of months, reservations were available about four months in advance.
  8. Thanks for the fleet report and the maps, and thanks to all for the posts! Hope everyone is doing better today, no matter what! I bought a World Series champions baseball cap the day after the Series! I'll be wearing it on my next cruise in May, as I did last November. I mean, I don't want to gloat, but as the song goes, "It's been a long time coming..."
  9. On other boards it has been pointed out that if you purchased the HIA package, you get the amount per day that the number of drinks on the package cover. So if your package is for 15 drinks, even thought you might not have that many drinks, you still get credit. For me, that explained how I earned the points I did on my last couple of cruises.
  10. This was very difficult for us also. We tipped the manager at the end of the cruise, as we had asked a lot of him. Similar to what some others have said, there were several staff members that were extra helpful, and we saw all of them doing whatever they could, so we stuck with the manager. Next time I thought of giving the manager an envelope in the hearing of some staff and ask that it be distributed, unless there are one or two that I felt deserve more. But this all might be irrelevant, as @cbr663seems to have a pretty clear answer to that issue, and that makes the most sense.
  11. I'm so sorry to hear this; how horrible! It's good that the scan and x-rays were negative, but just hope that whatever pain meds you have can provide enough relief.
  12. There is also a "V" category, the highest rated in the group of verandah cabins. Location, location, location.
  13. Hello everyone, thanks for the fleet report, the maps, and all the posts and pictures. @aliaschief, after seeing that buffet, I've decided to go to our favorite Chinese restaurant for lunch. Finally, why we are better off on HAL:
  14. The detail is that it is for CO, not the HIA package if not in CO.
  15. I don't need any added incentives to bang my head (or any other part of my body), so it's a relief to know that was on Princess.
  16. Many, many years ago my mother used to tell a story that when she was young (early 1920s) she saved her cake carefully to savor at the end. One night her brother snuck under the table and swiped her cake. So, there is logical, verifiable reason for this philosophy!
  17. After these posts, it seems to me the only thought left is whether you prefer port or starboard! There's not too much to be said about that choice from a practical/view standpoint, as the ship can dock so that either side is facing the dock/town. For some reason we like starboard, although our last couple of cruises we've been portside. So, just whatever feels comfortable to you!
  18. We did what you're thinking about: booked an obstructed view, bought CO, and upgraded to a V cabin. Future discounts almost never happen, and might not apply, but it's still a good deal. But I wonder about any possible upgrade; that might depend on many factors.
  19. Good evening, and thanks for all the posts, everyone. About insurance and medical care, @kazuand @dfish: heard a story today about a woman whose child was airlifted, ordered by a doctor, for immediate need. The insurance company said it was unnecessary medical help and refused to pay. She got a bill for $96,000.
  20. That certainly makes sense. My PCC told me that getting bumped is not that likely, but if it happens they would either upgrade you or give you a similar cabin. That wording means nothing, of course, as my definition of "similar" is surely not HAL's.
  21. I have a vague memory of someone putting cash on the craps table on HAL.
  22. Thanks for the reports and maps, Jacqui and Roy, and it's a beautiful sunset picture, Roy. Hope everyone is hanging in there. Rainy this morning for us, but the sun's out and it's beautiful now.
  23. Apple crumble tart! Enough said! Not only do I not need sugar added, I'm happy without it!
  24. All I can say is, that's how I felt for many years, until I had really great bread pudding!
