  1. No matter the decision made, some will disagree. I think the Ward Cove bus traffic is a valid issue and if city facilities are closed and public safety departments are occupied with the landslide, it's not in the best interest of cruise passengers to be there either.
  2. Quite a few of the replies to that post by citizens of Ketchikan are not in favor of keeping the cruise ships coming!
  3. It's terrible for Ketchikan, and it's so sad someone lost their life and others have lost their homes. Since it happened less than 24 hours ago, I'd imagine the impact on cruising hasn't been fully evaluated.
  4. Keep an eye out for products from a company called Native Northwest. I think I bought some of their items in Ketchikan and many time online since then. Good quality and beautiful products.
  5. @broberts All I get is the profile creation fields and a continue button. No existing user option. Ive tried both the mobile native view and the desktop version of the chrome mobile browser.
  6. When tapped that takes me to the create account option with NO option to login as existing user.
  7. That's sad. We've had such amazing concierges on all of our past NCL cruises. Even the ones who weren't super outgoing and whom we thought we wouldn't connect with, were organized, efficient, and very caring. I'm sailing on the 10/10/2024 Alaska itinerary on Jewel and I'm bummed if she'll still be aboard.
  8. @kitkat343 The HORROR! I will have to warn my DH, he is a Heinz guy 100%, though sometimes he can manage the disappointment when the ketchup is in the little silver cups and he can't see the "wrong" label. On our cruise on the Jewel in Australia/NZ, trips ashore were difficult. Heinz there is not like North American Heinz at all. I guess I'll be carrying ketchup packets along with DH's stevia packets in my purse, LOL. We're currently at 1/2 a large bottle of Heinz in the house and DH is getting the shakes, I need to restock!
  9. There is no login button at the top of the page. When I access the menu and tap login/create profile I only get the create profile screen and can't get past it. AM I missing something? Is there a workaround? I installed a different browser on my device and can login with that, but it's annoying to have to do that.
  10. I was blown away that the funeral home for my Dad's service had a challenge coin made for him.
  11. Thanks for sharing your cruise! I booked last minute (for me) on the Jewel for a 9-day departure from Seattle cruise on October 10. We've always loved the Jewel and the Pearl. I've usually booked an aft suite, but none were available, so I'm in one of the Haven 2-bedroom family suites. I'm looking forward to late-season Alaska. I'm sad to read about some of the not-so-good experiences so far.
  12. I've only stayed in a penthouse suite on the Jewel, it's Haven but doesn't have key access to the Haven space on this class of ship. We have attended some events in the Haven courtyard and there isn't much to it, it's just the pool and hot tub. Haven dining is in Moderno and that's where the Concierge works from during breakfast and lunch. I don't think there is a Haven bar. So if you like the "awayness" of the Haven, the Jewel Class ships don't have as much of that, but Moderno works well for the dining and the butler/concierge service is just as good or better.
  13. I have a very faint, drowsy memory of my husband looking from our aft balcony in the middle of the night saying "what is that, are those birds?" I was too sleepy to get up and look, but he seemed to definitely be observing something.
  14. I had to submit one with them off for online check in, but when I boarded the ship, they took one WITH them on. Go figure.
  15. We never smelled it forward of the aft elevators, so you're in a good position. It didn't seem to be on 11 or 12 aft, where a lot of the dining is either.
  16. I sailed on the Sun last week. The crew is great, the ship is well maintained, but compared to newer ones, beginning to seem small and dated in layout and amenities. Nothing bad though, just not all the new bells and whistles. Big plus is the Great Outdoors area of the buffet, newer ships don't have that and it's the best place to eat! The only advice I'd give is avoid any cabins aft of the rear stairs/elevator. The ship has some sort of ventilation issue and it stinks. Our aft balcony smelled like sewage most of the time.
  17. So if you put your key card in while playing in the casino, you accumulate points. What are they for? (not a high roller, LOL)
  18. It's open until 3:00am menu is fish & chips, Reubens, burgers, kind of like The Local. I'll take a pic if we are there again. Food is only available 5:30pm until 3:00am.
  19. Our cabin is on 9. The odor can be detected in the elevator lobbies from 12 all the way down to 4.
  20. Actually, the odor has persisted. The entire aft stairwell/elevator lobby smells constantly with a smell like a landfill. The cabins aft of that also have it. It isn't coming from the plumbing in our room though.
