  1. I did not mix up anything. I didn't quote the dress code. I never implied anything about having to wear a jacket according do dress code.
  2. I think it would be one of the most entertaining possibilities on HAL, and hope we get some good performers in Feb, but according to people here on CC reviews are mixed. It's tough when people can got to so many venues like this. Norwegian already has the Howl at Sea exclusivity.
  3. I agree that's why we chose HAL 20 years later as well. we did Mexican Riviera and Caribbean. But if the cruise in Feb doesn't deliver it is likely not going to be HAL next time. We will do nights in Music Walk, if the do 3 sets, we'll do them in order. If they are good, the last set should be their best.
  4. He wrote over 600 and sold his entire catalogue in 2020. I doubt he remembers each word, but perhaps. I think Irving Berlin holds the record and old baroque composer may have done more, but doubtful. My point is not argument. My point is the HAL entertainers are unlikely to "know" 200 songs and it is more unlikely that they have even played, let alone know 500 songs. Musicians are a dime a dozen. Been there done that. I spent my early days as studio and substitute in orchestra and musicals. I was not great, but I could read and play what was put in front of me with about 90% accuracy. I cannot say I know or even knew the songs. I usually got 24 hrs notice before a 2 hr performance. Just watch YouTube on people covering songs. Guitar, drums are relatively simple to cover if you can read music and improvise. Lyrics and singing are much harder. I'd be astounded if any HAL musician has a list of 500 tunes that they can play without sheet music on demand. In fact I would be astounded d if any musician could do that, pretty sure many could fake it tho. 😉
  5. Not that it really matters to me as I barely watch TV, but it is not illegal to receive over the air TV transmissions or to show them to anyone in public. Where it is an issue is Satellite or Cable where the provider is supplying over "their" interface, not "the air". There can be issues, if you CHARGE for over air TV, but showing it is not "strictly illegal".
  6. I wear jackets all the time, because they look good. When dressed in a suit or jacket, you are showing respect to the people that you encounter and establishment that you patronize, there is no replacement for it. A man just can't look "as nice", it's common sense that I did not need 2 degrees or logic to figure out. People wearing tank tops, baseball caps, shorts and other gear at a fine dining establishment don't care about this, so why are you worried? If you worry, just dress up vs giving us that do grief for it. Your other alternative is to dress as you wish. Not very hard is it? You seem to have more of a problem with people that dress up vs the dressy people wanting others to cover their body in a fine dining establishment. If the captain shows up to the MDR do you think that he will be in jeans and a tshirt? I will push it on my cruise. I will try a sport coat, then western wear, then shorts. I will report my findings.
  7. Look up how many songs musicians learn. The beetles only had 188. 500 is a mega ton and most musicians know nowhere near that amount. Studio musicians are the top and can probably play that many because they have to read music and play anything placed in front of them, but they generally do not know these songs, they can play them though. "Knowing" 500 songs is practically impossible. Most cover bands that know 100's of songs, the vocalist will use a tablet, because remembering the words is very hard. Instruments are much easier as you just need to stay on track and know some good solos. Elton John recorded about 500 songs, if that gives you some mark of what a genius he was and I guarantee you that none of the musicians on HAL are Elton John caliber.
  8. I was able to do this as soon as I had paid, but my cruise was only 90 days out.
  9. My dancing shoes are whatever I am wearing. 😉 It was pretty obvious to me in the first few minutes of researching HAL cruises, that ballroom dancing has gone away on this line. Although the only way ballroom dancing is interesting to me at all is if there is a quality "Glen Miller Orchestra" playing. If it is a partial band with backing track or DJ, they can feel free to just delete it, which seems like what they have done. I know a ton of musicians, bands and other performing artists, that could not make a career during covid, it had a huge impact on the local live music scene. I am sure it did a number to cruis music as well. My first HAL cruise had an Elton John impersonator, I believe it was Rus Anderson. Absolutely outstanding. They should bring him back!
  10. If you like music but want protection. Try Eargasm or Earasor. foam ear plugs do not bring Db down consistently over the frequency range. They kill highs and let lows through.
  11. No guests in Pinnacle. Priority stuff, will depend on staff. Can't believe it would be a big deal though.
  12. So after this experiment, I tried to see if I can just do it online. It seems that I can book shorex, for me 2 times and use up my shorex credit myself, so maybe there is a chance you could assign to someone else.
  13. If it matters. HAL told me that I have $100 and my wife has $100 and I cannot use hers. So I would guess it is impossible to gift it to someone else. But you never know. Think about the money. They likely have no legal or monitary reason to allow you to gift it to someone. You could however just have it issued to your spouse and have them try to use it Not sure on those logistics though. Be interested in your results. Definitely, you will not be able to transfer to OBC, that seemed right out. But, IMO, it is worth calling them numerous times, you might get an answer that is more positive.
  14. The times are here. Apparently not many people care anymore. Apparently golf clubs and strip clubs have more etiquette than HAL customers. I will wear very nice pants and shirt. Which is a departure from 2002 when I sailed last. If there were still tux rentals, I would rent one. For many this is a once in a lifetime experience and they like to make it special, that attitude was prevalent years ago and other cruisers respected that and dressed appropriate. Now days, it seems, anyone can afford a HAL cruise and they demand acceptance regardless of behavior, attire, etc. Seems like I made the right decision for my wife (cruise). Seems like I made the wrong decision for me. I am cool with that. We will make it great.
  15. I posted a big analysis on this. No doubt the cruise lines can make more money per drink or bottle, but even with HIA, they double their money. It is always better to make some money vs none, plus it is convenient knowing if you stay within limits there are no other charges.
  16. And it would be rare that I ever would "confront" the staff in the venue being patronized. That *could* lead to a lot of hassle and not enhance my service with them. What I would confront the service staff of is unacceptable service on their end, like cold or overdone meal.
  17. whatever... we shall see I always get along great with staff, so really couldn't care less about this particular comment from you. Have a wonderful day! 😉
  18. Not cheap does not equate to tasteful attire for evening at Pinnacle. Birds were in style....that was the 1960s and 1970s. 😉
  19. Nope, pretending that people in general should. I mag have to remind the HAL staff of their own dress codes if something l I ke that happens in CO
