  1. Perhaps you are good for sure as ATK recipes are toough. You don't get many real ones without the subscription. They point you to other sites an bait you for more subscriptions. IMO a scam, but I still like ATK. Look at their turkey and duck confit recipes. Duck confit recipe should be duckfat + duck + oven. Theirs takes a week or so. Their ideal turkey burger, which rocks, is inconceivable by most home cooks but easy for you and I. All they really need for me is add some gelatin and baking soda and their research pays off. I don't need 4 other pages and 30 minutes prep for a turkey burger. They make roasting a chicken and turkey tough too.
  2. I take a pair of shorts(1), pants(1), suit(1) and 5 shirts. Other than compliments on my attire no one notices. Other than the suit/jacket, the clothes are permanently in my suitcase. No need to pack. Grab the case and leave. Really annoys my wife
  3. There is no such thing as something harder to navigate or inconvenient because it is accessible. I don't need a 15' ramp at my front step, but almost everyone, including my disabled wife, agrees it is pretty handy. No one claims my walk in steam shower is inconvenient either. Rather they are jealous. You can't get an accessible room or even request one, without lying about a disability. HAL'S policy and be prepared to get bumped if you are not disabled and book one. I dont have any issue with splashing water in a bathroom, by definition its wet. I rarely even use my shower or bath on cruises. Most of my bathing is done in the spa, but it is odd to think that an accessible room is somehow inconvenient. Only sometimes is there less furniture. Most of the time there is more room. How often have you been in an accessible room?
  4. Our first cruise was aft cabin on zuiderdam. Same level as the neptune lounge. We booked inside state across the hall for my parents and we "shared" the suite. I booked as Neptune, but chose the aft suite for it's amazingly huge balcony. It was well worth it. If zuiderdam was newer, I would have done it again. The only thing was garbage blew off from above onto the deck/veranada. It usually meant we had to ask crew to clean up quickly for a minute or two each day. This was 2000 so we had everything from beer/drink containers to cigarette buts on the deck. Did not even bother us one bit as the stewards were amazing. Sometimes people saw us from above. Most of the time we gave them a rock and roll or peace sign and they remained being jealous. 😉
  5. Yep. Unfortunately I cook as good as most chefs, so I send stuff back if not cooked to order, if it does not meet my expectations or if it differs from the menu. I manage to pull this off in a very nice manner. I don't get upset about it at all, I just point out their error. I am not the customer that puts up with something unsatisfactory, to follow up with a crap review. I ask them to give me what I ordered and what they said they would deliver. The only resultant review should be 5/5. 😉 I buy really great eggs from a neighbor or get the best possible at the store. There is none of the runny stuff you mention. I only see that on the real cheap eggs, like the ones that are caged in 1'x1' cages . I don't mind them much other than inhumane, we should all have access to cheap eggs! I REALLY wish my neighborhood allow chickens. I would have so many more friends. If you do get a runny egg, the runny stuff can be manipulated away from the main poach. Easily if done right after you drop, but even later is fine.. I use something close to below. It is thin and can easily manipulate/cut the stringy/spindly stuff away from the good part of the poach and into the water. Not worth dirtying another kitchen device and I use the slotted spoon to retrieve them anyway. https://www.amazon.com/Xingmin-Slotted-Stainless-Strainer-Professional/dp/B08JMCH76N/ref=sr_1_4?crid=T0CGIN8T0MR3
  6. Powdered eggs are more expensive than eggs, but do not require refrigeration. They can only be used for a scramble or perhaps a horrific omelet. I use them or better (freeze dried) when camping/backpacking.
  7. ATK is way too far above most people's cooking skills. I have a subscription to their site and if you wish to make a simple dish complicated, they know how to do it. LOL. What I love is that they try popular stuff 100 ways and I can read about how to make a dish successfully. But you MUST know what you are doing to follow any ATK recipe (not the one's that they refer to you). Here is a simple snap peas recipe. 45 minutes, LMAO. https://www.americastestkitchen.com/recipes/15449-buttery-sugar-snap-peas I can make these in 5 min. I had a tour of the kitchen and demonstration with the ship chef, back on my first 2 cruises (~2000). It was perfect. We got to cook and he helped! Kitchen tour was included. I would do some kind of cooking thing if they offer it. I would have been sold on the ATK endorsement, but now I know their style and recipes and would think twice. Probably still pretty fun. Definitely a decent resource for kitchen gadgets. Better than consumer reports.
  8. Just curious why you say this? It is something you experienced first hand? There is only one Neptune Suite on Volendam that is Handicapped. 7034 is it, you won't get it unless you can prove you need accessibility or you do guarantee and it is the last room, even then you could be up or down graded if someone that needs accessibility books a cruise. 7034 has a slightly narrower deck than most other Neptunes. I travel with my disabled wife. Most times the benefits of being in an accessible room far outweigh the negatives. In fact on the N.S. the ambulatory room we have has a much larger veranda AND is a slightly larger room. I have had walk in showers installed in my last couple of homes. Awesome... they should be required by code on all new homes. So many advantages. I can literally hose down my bathroom.
  9. "Bullying" and "Belittling" are two very subjective terms and the original poster did not define anything that proves bullying or belittling. Between this ambiguity and the fact that untrained humans are generally horrible at witnessing and recounting their witness I am treating this post just like I would treat a review of HAL getting an overall review of 1/5 -- skeptical. For all we know the manager was directly giving valuable feedback to the employee in front of an "audience". Was he yelling? Making a scene? None of that was described in any detail. What did he say that upset the poster to the point they thought about it for "an hour". My interpretation (and that is all it is), is that it was no big deal, someone can correct me if my interpretation seems inaccurate, the OP could chime in with more details, etc. Would I do something like that to an employee? Nope. I would take them immediately to an area where the public would not witness the interaction and tell them, their job was on the line. Unless they change their behavior immediately and show measurable improvement from that moment moving forward, the next port may be their last. Simple. Is that belittling? Bullying? To many people these days it is bullying. I call it "at will employment".
  10. Whelp.... that would be right up there on my list of must sees. Right up there with Pax talent show.
  11. Definitely the inverse vortex effect on gravity as a result of all the toilet water spinning the opposite direction. Duh.
  12. Here is the points guy warning of this change. Not sure why they would feel it wise to mention this to that site. . https://thepointsguy.com/news/cruise-line-removes-music-venues/
  13. As others on this thread have mentioned jacket is not required
  14. Is the southern hemisphere north of the northern hemisphere? Do Australians have to flip all their maps upside down?
  15. Suits and business casual still exist. So do forward facing customer jobs. COVID does not run everyone's life and business.
  16. My coat is on my body it takes zero room or weight in my bag. I pack a 15lb carry on. That's it.
  17. What is an egregious roim service tray?
  18. Is the points guy the definitive HAL spokesman?
  19. That really kind of sucks. Especially no live must ever at the pool and smaller bars.
  20. That is what you get when you are forced into a certain brand like endorsements form LCS, BBK, RS. Hopefully the entertainment director got a good discount from BBK as not playing BBK or not being able to cover "classic soul and rock & roll" would be an absolute requirement for a BBK All-Star Band.. We should let HAL know about this stuff. Here is HAL's "billing". " Direct from Beale Street in Memphis, B.B. King’s All-Star Band cooks up a rich southern heritage of classic soul and rock & roll to get you dancing."
  21. I saw this too and did not see anything mentioned about an accident. My thoughts are with kazu, but I did not see anything about an accident. Elbow and septic is typically arthritis, but that is also a guess.
  22. And in other videos posted here, there are 70 and 80 year old's on the stage as well.
  23. Mixed comments on this thread on whether cutting LCS is a branding or genre decision. None of the posts that I have seen definitively state anything from HAL, so I will wait and see what happens. Quite frankly though, if I am fortunate enough to see LCS perform in that empty of a theater, it would be a net positive for me.
