  1. Split and Trogir were very pretty. We started the day with big, dark clouds, but luckily the rain was light. Then rain again middle of the day as we drove back from Trogir to Split; once that cleared, we had beautiful blue skies for the Split tour. Parts of Old Town Trogir were slightly flooded so we took some detours on our walking tour. This was an independent tour through Viator we booked last minute when Olympia was canceled; we found our tourmates here on CC roll call 😉. It included walking tours of both Split and Trogir. In Split, we would see some GOT locations. Because it was a private, small group tour, it could be flexible and somewhat tailored to our requests. Our guide, Marija, decided she would take us to Trogir first because the skies looked clearer there. It was a good call! The ticket said the meeting point was in Old Town Trogir at the Golden Gate. But Marija met us right at the gate just feet from the ship, closer even than the taxis, so we didn't have to walk very far in the rain.🌧️ Thank you, Marija!😊 Marija is a Split native, a teacher with a masters in history and development with a passion for research, so she is well equipped to lead a tour here. In Trogir, we started at the entrance to the old Town. We saw several cathedrals and the equivalent of City Hall, among other incredible buildings. After some free time (40 min) to explore on our own, we met back up w/Marija for the drive back to Split. She asked if we wanted free time in Trogir or if we wanted to go back to Split and spend more time there. We decided to have some time in Trogir. During that time, I got a terrific blood orange gelato. I chose a cup, but cones were also an option. DH had an Americano. These cuties guarded the register at the shop 🤭 It had a very nice selection of pastries, cakes and other baked items. Had pretty heavy rain and some rainbows 🌈 on the drive back to Split. Marija said this was the most rain they'd had in 5 years. Cannot locate my rainbow picture, but if I find it, I'll post it later. The weather cleared up to give us a beautiful afternoon for the tour of Split. We saw 2 sphinx - 1 was approx 3800 years old (it was already over 1800 yo when the cathedral it guards was completed in 305AD). Marija says the other smaller one is about 1500 years younger. These, as the other artifacts, are not under protection or roped off, allowing you to touch them. It's pretty incredible. I'm sure, eventually they will realize that needs to change for the sake of preservation, but it's surreal to touch something thousands of years old. Our guide, Marija. After I get caught up, I'll post some of the misc pictures I took. There is so much to see.
  2. We used to do that and have changed to booking only on sea days because we don't want to rush to get ready after spending the day at port. Especially if it's a physical day and we're extra dirty. You can safely book for the 2nd sea day as usually 1st sea day will be dressy (not always, but frequently). Once onboard and you learn which nights are dressy, you can go the dining venue and have your reservation moved if you find you prefer a different night; no penalty for rescheduling.
  3. The day is back on track - missing dessert pictures have been found!! Brownie topped w/coffee gelato and carmel popcorn crunch. Strawberry 🍓 pavlova. TV weather forecast has been updated - 57°, 77% humidity, thunderstorms/light rain and light winds. In addition to the rain jacket, I will take an umbrella.
  4. The kiwis 🥝 have been huge this cruise. I don't eat them, but think they're pretty and add a nice pop of color to my fruit plate. But, seriously, they are noticeably large. The sliced watermelon 🍉 is really good, but as mentioned previously, the cubed melon is a bit mushy, so I only eat it from room service. I eat a lot of watermelon, but I think they could serve smaller portions. Even for 2 people, this is a lot. The strawberries are noticeably absent as they've already been consumed. 🤭 Lunch yesterday was in Pinnacle Grill. I thought I posted these, but don't see them, so apologies if this is a duplicate. Also, the dessert pictures are MIA - chocolate brownie topped w/coffee gelato & carmel popcorn crunch for DH and strawberry 🍓 pavlova for me. They were very pretty, hoping the pictures reappear 🥴 Any yellow glow is reflection from the water glasses - sun alternated between very bright and hiding behind the clouds. DH likes the PG butter - he eats both the garlic and the red pepper. I don't eat butter, but tried the red pepper as it looks sort of like pimento cheese. I had the PG burger - that's why I was there!! Lunch in PG is what sea day special. I don't eat the bun, but don't ask for them to omit it as the sauce is just the right amount for the lettuce & tomatoes, which I eat on the side. Starter was the beefsteak tomatoes & basil. Normally I would say they were fabulous, but after all the local tomatoes, they're only really good.🤔 DH had beef tenderloin w/blue cheese, asparagus and scalloped potatoes. And🍷 Starter was crabcakes. He had coffee w/his brownie. BettyAnn (CD) says the ship has been cleared so we're good to go ashore. Also said the HOHO will not run, so those planning to use it to get around town will need to go to Plan B.
  5. Good morning, Split! Very busy port - 2 what I think are ferries (need to research) passing in opposite directions. 4 more have gone by while I'm typing this... Very cloudy, but not actively raining; hard to get a good picture. These are from our balcony. TV forecast is rain, 63° and 61% humidity. That's the lowest humidity we've had and I'll gladly accept it, but would like the rain to hold off - we have walking tours in Split and Trigor; Split is GOT. Trigor is about 30 min west of Split. Breakfast is in our cabin this morning. We meet the independent guide and rest of our small group (8 total) at 8:15. Here's hoping for a dry, informative, beautiful day!!
  6. I got onions (special request) and baked potato last month on Venezia.
  7. On Venezia in Sept there were several kilt wearers. All about the same age - maybe when you get "there" you'll try a kilt and a tuxedo, just on different nights, lol.
  8. If the ship has to zero out, meaning all passengers have to get off before new ones can get on, you will receive a letter telling you when/where you are to meet all the other "in transit" (that's what people staying on from 1 cruise to another are called) passengers. Someone from the ship will be there to mark you off a list and give you your new key cards (you will keep your old one). Then you have a choice - you can walk with group to scan off the ship (using your old card) and clear passport control and scan back on the ship (using the new card) at which point you're free to roam around the ship as you please. Or you can scan off (with your old card) and go ashore staying off as long as you like so long as you're back onboard by the All Aboard time listed (usually 30 min - 1 hour before sail away). The port you're at and where you originally boarded the ship determines if the ship has to be zeroed out. This is the letter we received during our B2B in Sept on Venezia; it was a Canadian cruise out of NYC and had to zero out. One thing to note that was not clear in the letter, it didn't say ALL passengers had to meet up, but we did. This cruise we stayed in same cabin. When changing cabins, we just packed the small stuff, cabin stewards moved luggage, misc bags and hangers.
  9. What ports are you skipping and why are they being skipped?
  10. Interesting collection of days: Dominican independence is worthy of recognition, not a stout fan but I'm sure those who are appreciate today, will not be giving anyone a dollar today - already gave HAL several as we lunched in PG today.😉 Pass on the meal, would try the drink and wine, not been to the port. Sunset tonight as we travel between Sarande Albania and Split Croatia as seen from our balcony. Prayers and positive thoughts for all.
  11. And we all love cruising 🚢 😉 Go Stars (for your hockey fix)🏒 Congrats Rangers ⚾
  12. You forgot to say "pushing the oh crap button" now your request for one has received a strike and approval has been pushed back... 🥴
  13. Sister line (the one w/the fabulous bacon in PG), currently on a roundtrip Rome, had a Halloween party, Halloween dance and Halloween trivia. I have no pictures & cannot report on attendance as I didn't go, but we all know it was nothing like you had. Plus it was indoors at club. The dessert and bakery stations had truly awesome food displays; caused a backup in the line from all the picture taking. 😉 The only picture I was able to get was ghosts 👻 floating around a staircase. Looks like your Halloween night was well celebrated!!
  14. Good morning, Sea Day! Not sure this helps me much in knowing where I am🫣 But this really helps - sometimes I need "the big picture." Sun is trying to rise on a cloudy ⛅ morning as we head toward Split (Trogir) Croatia. Looks like the rain has once again been taken out of the forecast - I'm liking the trend... Today was supposed to be Katakolon (Olympia). Instead, we'll spend the day at sea and tomorrow will be another GOT day in Split. We will do our best to include 🍷 lol.
  15. DH said "I had to go to Albania 🇦🇱 for the Rangers to get a pennant!" I said, "I'm willing to take one for the team - let's get them a few more and book Mediterranean cruises every Oct."
  16. Turned 4* this year during April 29 - May 6 AK cruise. Completely understand and accept HAL policy that status & accompanying awards will be reflected on the next cruise, so we were prepared to pay for laundry. We were NOT charged for laundry. This was on the Eurodam - maybe it's just something they did? We just know we appreciated it. Congrats and enjoy your cruise!
  17. So appreciate your fine report - this is how we learned of our AK cancelation.
  18. After you download the file, just click install. Works much the same way, only you're getting the file from someplace outside the play store.
  19. Today is a sea day, so I hope to get caught up on posts and pictures. Stopped by GS to get a billing error sorted out - once again HAL did the right thing and resolved the issue on first visit w/no escalation needed. Yes, it would be better if we could have a cruise free of errors, but they're going to happen; it's how they're handled that matters.🤔 So, while there, I saw the sign and stand of luggage tags 😪 telling us it's time to plan for ending the cruise.😓 We took yellow 6 which we will trade for yellow 4. Then when we got back to our cabin, we were greeted by this: Canceled the Italian wine tasting as we didn't know there was a charge - we only want to sit through free wine tasting. Passed through the Lido; they had beautiful fruit on display.

  21. @cruising sister encouraging news on Baby Murphy - thanks for the update.
  22. Today we're in Sarande Albania; it's a tender port. We popped over from Corfu last night and spent the night hanging out before getting clearance to tender over this morning. We got our hour back and should not have any more time changes. Weather started rough in the wee hours, but turned out to be another beautiful day. View from the tender on return trip. Current view from balcony as we wait for sail away. I will post pictures and thoughts from today's experience a bit later.
  23. CONGRATS to the Rangers!! ⚾🥳🥂I missed the series and will miss the parade, but I would not miss this cruise. I can get behind a couple of the days; no epitaph for me when the time comes. Not sure I agree w/Mr Twain.🤔 Hard pass to the meal, no thanks to the wine, probably on the drink and never been to the port. Important day in history for Indonesia. Prayers and positive thoughts for all.
  24. I did a Google search for "versions Navigator App" and selected the one w/the 2nd newest release date since I knew it worked. If I find it again, I will post it here. It is v 4.30.0
