Cool Cruiser

Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. We sailed on the Apex the week before Christmas, and at one point I remarked to my husband that Celebrity really does not want little kids on their ships! Mind you, we are platinum Castaway Club on Disney so we are used to a very kid friendly line, so seeing no pool slide, no pool games, no splash pad, no sports court outside, etc was jarring at first. (mind you- we loved it) I can totally see kids being bored. We had terrible weather on this cruise where there was really once one nice day to use the outdoor pool, and it was pretty crammed with little kids. They didn't bother us (again, we are used to way worse) but one older lady was not pleased and kept scolding them when their ball landed near her. LOL. As for the Solarium, again, bad weather (lots of rain) meant the Solarium pool was filled with kids all day long. We put in ear buds and read our books, but many were giving them the stink eye.
  2. I'm not sure. We just saw 2 people (both young adult males, but not the same person) exiting the restaurant wearing shorts then re-entering a few minutes later wearing pants. Not sure who spoke to them or what was said, but they definitely changed clothing.
  3. I'm happy to report that there were no (outward, at least) people angry with us for our dress. In fact, we saw a few guests doing the "walk of shame"- being asked leave in order to change out of their shorts. This happened in Tuscan and Cosmopolitan. My 18 year old son was grumpy the first couple of nights when wearing his long pants (the HORROR!) but he just changed as soon as dinner was over. And he wore his (nice- Rainbow brand) flip flops to dinner without incident. All was good!
  4. You won't have a problem getting to experience all 4 main dining rooms. Especially if you eat on the earlier side.. we got to each restaurant around 5:45- 6 pm each night and were seated immediately. (party of 4). Have fun!
  5. Can someone summarize the reason why the port was missed? No speakers on my computer... thanks.
  6. We sailed on Apex last month. The shows were amazing! We saw (and enjoyed) all 3 theatre productions, but the "not to be missed" of the bunch is Rockumentary. We also enjoyed relaxing in the Magic Carpet. Very unique space with great views. If you like the pool, be sure to head out early for chairs on sea days. Filled up fast. Have fun!
  7. Thanks, everyone! Sounds like we made a good choice with Reflection.
  8. Thanks for posting this. We recently disembarked the Apex (Dec 23rd) and booked a cruise for next January on the Reflection. Happy to hear she is in great shape!
  9. It was definitely a problem on the Apex the week before Christmas! So many empty, dirty tables in OceanView.
  10. We (myself, DH, DD20 and DS18) recently cruised on the Apex (Dec 16-23). It was our first non-Disney cruise with our kids, and DH and mine's first on Celebrity since our honeymoon in 1998. We enjoyed the Apex very much, especially the entertainment, stateroom (except the infinite verandah- wasn't a fan), and pool area. We decided to book another Celebrity cruise while onboard, and after looking at options for early January '25, decided on the Reflection to the ABC islands. We would have loved to sail on Apex again, but the itineraries were not desirable for us. Differences we've noted so far: actual verandahs (pro), having same waitstaff all trip (pro), only one main dining room (con), older ship/outdated decor (con). Can anyone chime in on what else we can expect? Thank you.
  11. Never got a refund from a Nov 1st cancelation. Celebrity said they processed it and AmEx said they never received it. Guess I'm out a couple hundred bucks. Not going to lie- leaves a really bad taste in my mouth a few weeks before our cruise.
  12. I canceled an excursion on Nov 1st and still have not received a refund (AmEx). I called Celebrity on Tuesday the 14th and was told it was processed that day (don't believe it) and that it was an issue with my credit card. Hung up with them and called AmEx and was told they've received nothing from Celebrity. Ended up having to file a dispute (I have emails confirming the amount that was supposed to be refunded). Very annoying, and now I'm losing more money because I'm afraid to cancel and rebook a different excursion that's significantly cheaper than when I booked it, because I'm afraid it will happen again. Ugh.
  13. This is not correct. We have "Celebrity Select Dining Early 6:00 pm" booked for our cruise next month on the Apex. After reading your comment, I called Celebrity and asked if it's true that only anytime dining is offered. I was told absolutely not, that all ships including Edge class offer early and late dining in addition to anytime. I can't believe that Celebrity would assign guests to an early or late dinner, then have them board and say "just kidding!". Glad I called and got the correct answer.
  14. Thank you! Glad to hear we won’t have to do the walk of shame for being underdressed. LOL
  15. We are sailing next month on the Apex. It is our first celebrity cruise with our young adult aged kids. We are currently booked in 2 connecting, infinite veranda cabins. I can bid to move up to a sky suite at what I consider a reasonable rate. My questions are, do sky suite guests have access to the retreat? And since we have connecting cabins with our young adult kids (who are 18 and 20, and are thus unable to be in a cabin alone without us nearby) is it safe to assume that either both cabins will be upgraded or neither? I can’t imagine they would give the upgrade to one of the cabins and not the other since that would mean we would not be physically near them. Or maybe I’m giving Celebrity too much credit, lol. Any help would be great. Thank you.
