Cool Cruiser

Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. I booked a guaranteed interior (IF) on a cruise at the end of this month, and my cabin was assigned about 30 days pre-cruise. I was upgraded to a mid aft location (IB). It seems like this is around the point that all balcony cabins and better sold out. Until this point, it looked like there was still quite a few to choose from, but once all the cabins were assigned, the entire balcony class showed as sold out.
  2. This isn't exclusively true. I am doing an 11 day RT on the Crown out of Vancouver this June, and we stop in Victoria from noon to 10pm before arriving back in Vancouver the next day.
  3. I'm Canadian, so not exactly the same, but I lost quite a bit when I hand to cancel and rebook. My excursions were refunded in full by Princess, but my credit card had charged a premium on the exchange that wasn't refunded. I will have to look into getting a USD card if I travel again.
  4. I'm trying to book my first ever cruise. I picked a specific cruise I was interested in before contacting my travel agent (Princess to Alaska). The price my travel agent quoted was $300 more than I could book online direct through Princess' website. I was really hoping to use a travel agent to make sure I had all my bases covered and for help with insurance, but she basically just told me to take the better deal and book online on my own. Is this common, or am I somehow comparing apples to oranges? I did confirm that both booking were for a guaranteed inside cabin for single occupancy and included port fees and taxes. Is there a way to get the better price but still have the help of a travel agent if something goes wrong?
