  1. Sorry to hijack this thread but do you mind if I ask roughly how much they charge to rent a foldable wheelchair? I’m travelling with family soon on Ventura and we are trying to rent a foldable wheelchair from somewhere but did not know about this company that delivers to the cabin - it sounds perfect and much easier than what we’ve been trying to sort out. Family member is able to walk short distances so should be fine on ship but will need foldable wheelchair for ports.
  2. I’ve been on 4 P&O cruises in the past year alone. I’m off on another one next month. You’re evidently doing something wrong.
  3. How is £2300 for 2 people ‘much cheaper’ than a cruise? I’ve never paid more than that to go on a P&O cruise…
  4. Just an update on the single room (single bed) upgrade to another single room/bed outside etc, P&O replied on Twitter saying they couldn’t get to the bottom of this and still didn’t know after speaking to a certain team. They asked me to email them the upgrade email I got. That was a few days ago. Heard nothing since and now all window single bed rooms are sold out.
  5. Hotel prices across Europe are crazy expensive these days. Value for money is great on P&O. I’m pretty easy when it comes to where I’m going, as long as it’s away from home I can relax and enjoy something new. Bonus points if it’s warm, has a beach, has a cold beer etc. £4.80 a pint of moretti (after the 5% peninsular discount) I love a casino. I’m pretty easy going when it comes to where my cabin is and the noise. I’m in my 30s and usually out late drinking and enjoying myself, I can sleep through anything.
  6. On Iona last year they asked us to call reception and register which I did. On Ventura last month they just said keep your bags inside and that’s it. You’ll get a disembarking leaflet to your cabin a few days before letting you know what to do.
  7. Oops - good to know. I’d had a few (many) pints in Cadiz and must have thought on the way back to the ship that it was a good idea to buy a crate of beer and box of doughnuts to have on the balcony. 😂
  8. Does anyone know if you’re allowed to bring on alcohol from ports you dock at? First time cruising last year and 2 of the cruises I got a crate of Mahou. No problems getting back on and put them through the X-ray - no one said anything. This thread just made me think maybe this isn’t allowed as I’m aware there’s a 1 litre at Southampton rule….
  9. I did Ventura twice and Iona once in the past year solo - they have solo meet ups if that’s your thing. I also don’t do full tie and blazer on formal nights - had no issues staying in the casino and sports bar then had food in the buffet. Buffet food is average but speciality restaurants are good. One formal night I has a few beers in the bar and then just ordered room service and watched a movie. From my experience the older smaller ships are more formal, the newer larger ones less formal. On Iona there were lots of people (mostly us 30-50 year old men) not in tie and jacket.
  10. 1) I don’t drink wine so can’t comment on this 2) I reserved on the app the same day, but didn’t have any issues. 3) I paid £24 for a day of Wi-Fi ultimate at sea. It’s nowhere near as fast as at home so expect buffering and loading times. Fine for instagram, Twitter, Facebook etc but maybe not great for Netflix. 4) She’s an older ship but smaller than the newer ones. As a 30-something year old, I quite like her older charm. She’s a little more dated in her decor but still has a great atmosphere.
  11. I chased P&O for an update today on whether single rooms to single rooms is 100% or 200% upgrade fee. They still aren’t sure and the team they contacted last week hasn’t got back to them with an answer yet either (no offer to chase them either). I did notice today that if I put £110 offer in to upgrade my single inside room to a single window room (both single bed so can only accommodate 1 person), the screen after I put my credit card details in shows the final price as £220 so I’m gonna assume they do double it even for single solo rooms.
  12. The price is the same whether you buy before or onboard. The only discount is the usual 5%/7.5% for peninsular members. Internet is through satellite as is not the same speeds as at home. Starlink is being rolled out on all P&O cruise ships soon, which will massively improve onboard Wi-Fi.
  13. I can neither confirm or deny that my voucher said book by February 2023/travel by August and I booked and travelled in April 2023. They did not check when it was booked, only the expiration date.
  14. P&O have replied saying they have liaised with their team but they do not know because it’s new, so they’re going to have to speak to someone else and will get back to me when they have an answer. 🤷‍♂️
  15. I’m just browsing the cruises going in the next few weeks - Arcadia for 16 nights around Northern Europe leaving on Tuesday - £799 for a solo traveller in an inside standard, £899 for window standards. That is a bargain. Haven’t seen many cruises that don’t have a single person supplement recently apart from this one.
  16. As someone who has been/booked 5 cruises in the last 10 months, 3 of them being a week before I travel, I wouldn’t say they drop them down to rock bottom prices near embarkment. I see this upgrade programme as a bonus for a certain group like myself who don’t care where there cabin is located and see any upgrade as a bonus. —- P&O have asked for screenshots of my upgrade page, they’re still not given an answer regarding whether a single to single room upgrade is 100% or 200%. Will post back here when they decide.
  17. P&O Twitter haven’t replied - I tried calling them and the agent wasn’t sure if it was 100% or 200% for single to single rooms. I’m half tempted to put through the £110 offer and deal with them if they even accept it and then quote £220.
  18. I’ve sent them a message on Twitter, will update here when I get a reply.
  19. Interesting, thanks. Single to single makes sense if it’s just one fee. I’ll send P&O a message on Twitter as I’m happy to pay £110 to move to an outside window single, but £220 probably not.
  20. Makes sense but then surely the upgrade fee should be 100% and not 200%, as a single cabin can’t be based on two people sharing. My own fault though - it was £950 for a single and £1050 for a standard double - should have paid the extra £100.
  21. I received one of these letters when on Iona last October, spent around £1k’ish in the casino and got a voucher for £150 to use at the casino on my next cruise (travel before August 2023). Was on Ventura last week and showed the voucher to the cashier, they credited £150 free play to my card which I won £130 on the slots and cashed out. As a side note, I was on Ventura in August 2022 and they had some new slots when I was on it last week - Zeus, the spin the wheel one, some new automated roulette tables etc.
  22. Both myself and my family members are booked on the same cruise, both received the upgrade bid email. I’m currently in a single room inside and can bid £110 for an outside single room, no other options. Family members are in an inside standard and can bid for window, balcony or suite. It seems strange that they’d still charge me 200% to upgrade as they said rooms are based on two people, when I’ve got a single bed in my room. If I’m paying 200% surely I should be able to bid for balconies etc, but only have the option for an outside single room.
