  1. Where did you find this PDF? I can't find it on the website but may not be looking in the right place. It's really interesting to see that they have already changed the language for the casual dining from 'prix fixe menu' to 'cover charge'. Very different things!
  2. Sorry - I really didn't mean to upset you. I wasn't disagreeing with what you were saying and I'm really grateful for the update on what it actually happening on board now that the changes are in place.
  3. I don't plan to ask if we can share. We will just order one meal and two drinks. I really don't see how they can enforce no sharing as it's not a cover charge. But let's see. They certainly won't solve the wastage issue by effectively forcing people to order more than they can eat if they have a package and don't want to pay for something that's already included just to get a smaller amount of food that they can then share. Utterly bonkers.
  4. Hilarious - we are from the UK and we also can't get our medallions shipped....but if your's has been shipped from the US to the port in Southampton you'd think they might be able to ship mine to an address 50 miles away from Southampton 🤣🤣
  5. On our last cruise we bought Plus on board rather than in advance. We just visited Guest Services as soon as we boarded and it was added straight away. We didn't have any OBC so I can't answer that, but have no reason to doubt that it could have been used if we'd had it. For our next cruise in March 2024 we have pre-bought Plus as we were concerned that the price might rise again before then (we are in the UK and don't have the ability to cancel for any reason as UK insurers won't do that). Of course you're always going to be charged the going rate at the time you purchase, so if you wait until you're on board and the going rate for Plus at that time is $70 a day because princess has hiked the price then that's what you'll be charged. It's a gamble. As you'll have seen they've just made changes to the included dining options so it wouldn't be a huge leap to think that they might raise the package price sometime soon.
  6. Same here. Couldn't believe the invitation to subscribe to the Torygraph! I've not heard a thing officially about the changes - I thought maybe it's something my TA might have flagged to me. But we don't sail again until March 24.
  7. I think there would be a riot if a ship leaving from Southampton didn’t have kettles in the cabins. It’s a pretty basic requirement for us Brits 😂😂
  8. Really sorry but neither of us drink tea so we didn't pay any attention to the teabags.
  9. We were on Sky in early July out of Southampton. Our balcony cabin had a kettle in it so we didn't have to ask. I love how Americans call a kettle a hot water pot. Makes me smile every time.
  10. Pompeii is an ancient site. The streets are cobbled, uneven, with cart tracks in them and with very high kerbs. Although flat, walking in the site is not easy and distances are long. I am young(ish) and fit but I would always wear trainers as a minimum there. There is also very little shade. But if you are able to get there then I'd strongly recommend it - it's the most amazing place.
  11. My take on this is that it is not a cover charge, it's a fixed price menu. In any normal restaurant you can order 1 appetiser and share it and only be charged for one appetiser. So I'd strongly argue that ordering one fixed price meal counts as one hit against the included credits. What I then choose to do with that meal is up to me - I could ask for it to be boxed to take away, I could eat it all myself or I could share it with another guest.
  12. I'm from the UK and booked the standard fare through a travel agent. I later decided that the maths was in our favour to upgrade to Plus. The travel agent was happy to add it, but wanted to charge us a £25 per person 'amendment fee'. Princess wouldn't add it directly as I'd booked through an agent. So I waited until we got on board, went straight to guest services and they added it for me instantly, and the charge was then in $ which was actually a better rate than the £ charge for the UK. You have to do it within the first 24 hours on board and the risk of waiting is that the price of the Plus package increases between you booking and getting on board.
  13. Mmm, it looked and felt much more like it was primary verification rather than secondary and it wasn't until they had keyed in the room number that they knew who we were. Also found the medallions to be not 100% reliable in unlocking the door without actually holding it to the sensor. DH always had to hold his to the sensor. I guess I had to about 20% of the time. Medallion always in the same place - clipped to my waistband.
  14. We sailed from Southampton on 1 July. Turned up at 1030 (90 mins earlier than the app time we had been allocated) and we were on board drinking Prosecco with in 15 minutes of being dropped off at the port! All they wanted at check in was our passports.
  15. I am so glad I discovered the Atomic Pomm in Take Five on Sky Princess early on in our recent cruise. It's a keeper for me - green chilli vodka, pomegranate juice and lime. Delicious!!
  16. We are recently off Sky Princess and were surprised to find that on every single occasion where we ordered something the waiter/server asked for our room number (even when we were the only passengers in sight). Sometimes we were also asked for our names. Nobody ever seemed able to identify us from the app. I was led to believe that we would be identified automatically on the waiter's device and would not have to give our room number unless we were in a crowded situation. Anyone else have the same?
  17. I am just off Sky Princess and bought the Plus package (drinks, Wifi, gratuities) on board as soon as we boarded at guest services. Smooth and seamless and it appeared on the app as a purchased package instantly.
  18. Are you in a suite? That may be why you have that port and I don’t.
  19. Where? The only preference choice I have is for queen/twin beds.
  20. Same for me. So I did a live chat with Princess and they basically said that only suites get them, which doesn't match with what we're being told here (why doesn't that surprise me?). We are driving to Southampton so no luggage restrictions - we'll just take our own!
  21. Yay - ours has just appeared too with 10 days to go. Feels real now :-)
  22. Here in the UK they charge for anything and everything. In the UK we can’t bid to upgrade either. Nor can we get medallions sent to us. And I think we pay significantly more for the same cruise than you do in the US. It’s a hard knock life 😂
  23. Yea it’s the Plus package I was looking to buy. I can upgrade pretty much anything apart from that on the App/website and bypass my TA. No idea why they don’t let you do that one!
  24. I was told on a chat conversation that the only option for me to upgrade to Plus was to call the TA that I booked through. The TA charges an admin fee per person so I'm going to wait and do it on board. I cannot fathom why Princess can't do it themselves. But actually, being from the UK this might be better as the UK price for Plus isn't a very good exchange rate compared to the $60 that I'll be charged on board.
