  1. That odd, there was a circus about a month ago where a Karen shared booking number on a chat group, and someone else went and cancelled their cruise. Karen was all over social media blaming Carnival. Maybe the removed the ability until they can put more safeguards online.
  2. Hadn't thought about the high credit limit thing, but yea, even if you have insurance, may need credit card to get treated at hospital if anything happens.
  3. It would seem that they aren't making use of a major asset if they are having to cancel events in the space with a retractable roof. My guess is that it is prone to malfunctioning, so they are stingy about use. Just a guess.
  4. Thanks for this thread! Those balcony chairs are uncomfortable, and my view in them hits right at rail level, so can't even see around it while sitting.
  5. Thanks for the great review. Will definitely help me planning my upcoming cruise on Venezia.
  6. Another thread indicated that they send an email with deals in the 2 weeks after a cruise.
  7. Same thing with insurance for drunk passengers, air scrubbers for smoking areas, meat-free protein substitutes for vegans. Most services we use for consumers have built-in charges for parts of the service that we will personally never use.
  8. Not sure where you got 75% under 55. This article indicates average age has dropped to 46 from 49, so the number of over 55 needs to be much higher to balance out the number of kids. https://www.windrosenetwork.com/The-Cruise-Industry-Demographic-Profiles.html In the chart below, if you hust split 50-59 in half, that equates to 40% over 55. https://cruising.org/-/media/research-updates/research/consumer-research/2014-north-american-cruise-market-profile.pdf
  9. I swim every day at rec center, I think it depends on use. The lap swimmers prefer it cool (81F), the water walkers/water aerobics prefer it warm (84), and when I do Ahi Chi (tai chi in water) I go to the 90+ pool.
  10. I believe there used to be an issue with un booked bacon in u.s., but is no longer an issue (trichinosis) https://www.cdc.gov/trichinellosis/about/index.html#:~:text=In the past%2C people in,of trichinellosis in this area. My breakfast this morning:
  11. While I appreciate the point that it's no longer just pizza, how hard would it be to have foods that aren't all carbs. Literally, the ONLY thing on that menu I can eat is coleslaw, and even then, it likely has tons of sugar so I wouldn't even be able to eat it. How hard is it to add a salad or berries?
  12. You might be able to chase down a website for the shuttle company with recommendations on timing If not, better with earlier slot and then showing up later rather than vise-versa.
  13. How do you unfollow a thread? This topic devolved quickly and keeps getting more annoying.
  14. Less movement in center, rooms priced higher there, agree, it's likely never going to happen. But if you are TBD on room # and have an chronic condition, put it down. Took cruise in 2018 and was TBD. For some reason their system assigned me a handicapped room at center of ship.
  15. Unless the cruise ship is registered in the U.S. (very few are), US law may or may not apply to any given situation. For instance labor laws, the number of hours the crew works on a cruise ship is crazy, punishing even, but they get away with it because US labor laws don't apply.
  16. Awesome, didn't know this was an option. For less than $20 can store 2 suitcases right by Penn Station, so that option opens up the day for me. Thanks.
  17. Considering I wake up at 4AM every day, 8PM is bedtime. Would hate that option
  18. Hmm, now considering staying in NYC a extra night instead of going straight to airport.
  19. Lol, it's funny, both times I went to Grand Cayman I took pictures of the chickens wandering around. You would think that with as much chicken we eat that we wouldn't be intrigued by free running chickens but there it is.
  20. The threshold is different (maybe shouldn't be) in a floating hotel where the person can't drive. Agreed, body weight and individual tolerances mean that a catch-all of 15/day is pretty arbitrary. Technically, someone could have 15 in a day and not even be impaired if they pace one per hour.
  21. Demographics do play a role. 30 years ago I might have been one of the drunk, disruptive people staying up all night, thinking everyone else should enjoy my favorite music with me. Now I just want people to speak softly in halls, not play their phones on speaker in public areas and not smoke on their balcony next to mine. I love kids, but not en-mass, not screaming and running around. Agreed, crime rates do vary by season, but as previous poster indicated, it's more about the opportunity to get out rather than the temp itself. FOR INSTANCE, When your party size is limited to he size of your house rather than the size of your yard, the amount of disruption is limited accordingly.
  22. What port? Might ask my pre-cruise hotel to store it, but that means I'll have to go back there before heading to subway.
  23. Are they less strict with pictures when doing it this way? First try mail I took my own picture, and they rejected it, I had to try again getting picture from UPS. Delayed whole thing for months.
  24. On my last Carnival cruise, I met some incredible people by saying yes if they asked me if I wanted to share tables. We met at breakfast first day, and ended up sharing most meals after that. Since then, I've sailed on RCL twice, and they really don't understand when you ask to share. I usually ended up in a corner by myself (solo cruiser). This is the main reason that I chose Carnival this time, but now I'm concerned that with the Hub app thing, I won't be able to do the same thing. Does anyone have recent experience with this?
