  1. I’m disappointed to hear about the tough lamb and steak. Was there any explanation? Do you think Osman is aware?
  2. Getting a champagne cork back into a bottle is a challenge since the end of the bouchon expands.
  3. Skagway felt empty when we were there. I know we were one of 3, and I think there was fourth. If you walk into town it takes 15 to 20 minutes. It felt like everyone was getting onto the train and very few people went into town. I agree with @david,Mississauga, and I’ve done 3 Alaska cruises.
  4. @patty3 Only the one you have when you open the complimentary bottle. This goes with us whenever/wherever we travel…
  5. @nicjones088 I agree the website is sorely lacking when it comes to flowers and pricing. Do you have a TA at Cunard you could send an email? This is the number on the website for the cruise planners. I’d give it a try. call (800) 468-7752 for assistance
  6. @NE John I agree with @sfred that the only time it’s felt crowded to me was in Ketchikan. Lots of people shopping or looking for tour guides. The line for the Juneau tram can be really long when a ship docks, but then it dissipates until the next ship arrives. There are buses in Skagway to take you into town that are run by the city, and the train tickets sell out super fast so buy them as soon as you know your dates. Dog sleds and whale watching tours sell out quickly also.
  7. I hope it goes quickly and you test negative soon. Very sad for you.
  8. How does it work getting off and then getting back on when they are embarking new passengers? Is there a separate line? We’ll be doing this in December, 2024, so I’m really glad @runnerswife has asked the question and appreciative of the suggestions.
  9. @Victoria2 I took the tests out so we would use them in the order they expire. Agree with you that conditioner, and for me shampoo, are always in my kit. We spend lots of time in Vegas where the water is very harsh on hair.
  10. Thanks for this reminder - I’m going to put our covid tests in the suitcase right now.
  11. @Bigmike911 have you read about the Vrouw Maria? There is actually a really good book about it. In a nutshell - Catherine the Great amassed art and other expensive goods and hired a ship to deliver them to her. The ship went down. The book includes the politics of why it is still on the bottom of the ocean. The Tsarina’s Lost Treasure, by Catherine Curzon.
  12. @Bigmike911 I also immediately thought of the Marie Rose, which is fantastic. The Washington Post article made some really good points describing requirements of the future display. They need to find a billionaire who loves ships!
  13. Newport Midieval Ship Project. Read more at Wikkipedia https://na01.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fen.wikipedia.org%2Fwiki%2FNewport_Ship%3Fwprov%3Dsfti1&data=05%7C01%7C%7Cb32c9aa7e5e44f5ce2f508db6c13ac18%7C84df9e7fe9f640afb435aaaaaaaaaaaa%7C1%7C0%7C638222603970666587%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C3000%7C%7C%7C&sdata=pKqQIBIcePz8ju1cxcg%2BUYa31L9dNkEJX8c9sJ4Xk6Y%3D&reserved=0
  14. @Bigmike911 It doesn’t have a name. Now that I’ve started this reply and I’ll go ahead and submit it, but then I’ll try to find the article again and leave more information.
  15. The Cruise Critic roll book. Still no sign of it? Is it time to replace it and start a new one? What think you @Host Hattie? Remember, I’ve never seen it…just thinking about all of the people in this thread who would have signed it, and would sign it in the future if it existed. HH I hope you and Mr. HH are having as much fun as we are following your adventures.
  16. October should be nice. We’re in December. Have fun and make sure to join the roll call.
  17. @GaryEssex Which cruise have you booked? What’s the number? We’re looking at a 19 day TA in December.
  18. @Host Hattie Interesting article - I hope you can read it without paying…https://www.washingtonpost.com/world/2023/06/11/restoring-this-rare-medieval-ship-means-putting-2500-pieces-back-together/ You probably have local news stories.
  19. @BklynBoy8 I was thinking James Bond Casino Royale, the new one. I love his line, “but I already have a dinner jacket.” Her reply, “there are dinner jackets and there are dinner jackets. This is the latter.”
  20. @martinmct I hope you enjoyed Tracy Arm. I’ve been there twice. The first time there was too much ice and we didn’t get to the glacier, then last year, in August, it wasn’t a problem. I haven’t been to Icy Point and I’m looking forward to hearing about it.
  21. Think Casino Royale - the Texas Hold ‘em game.
  22. After several months the house is painted and the new deck is installed. We spent the day moving things back onto the deck and pulling weeds we haven’t been able to access. Next step is cement stairs, that will take 2 weeks, and a new back door, which is being custom built and will installed in early August. It is a beautiful day in Seattle.
  23. @Host Hattie I don’t suppose you could hide one of each bear in 9060? I’ll get them in 19 days!
  24. @Host Hattie I don’t know your itinerary, but if you’re in Marseille or Nice be sure to look for chickpea fries. They are all the rage!
  25. @Summergee We took 4 large suitcases and little little little carryons. Our issue was getting everything into the car we had booked. We’ve learned our lesson and we’re using luggage forward this time.
