  1. We usually watch our carbs and have had no problem in the MDR just asking for the starch to be replaced with an separate vegetable, sometimes they replace it on the plate and other times they have brought the replacement item in a separate small side dish.

Also be careful not to rely on vegetable salads as the main source of a meal because to get the full benefits of a low carb diet you need a certain amount of protein and moderate fat.

  2. I read with the upcoming Adventurer of the Seas dry dock that they are adding some new cabins, however I have not been able to find out which will be the new ones.

Just wondering if somebody had some information as to which cabins will be the new ones. We currently have a cruise booked on this ship but considering where the new cabins are located I might consider switching to one of the new ones.

Thanks in advance for any information.

  3. When we went on the Anthem we did my time dining and could choose between any of the four complementary dining venues we wanted for any evening.

We went online prior to the cruise and set up reservations to rotate a complimentary dining room every night and after the forth night we just started the same rotation over again. The menus did change in all the restaurants after the forth night. Although we made reservations with the my time dining we could of changed them at any time and could of also just walked up to any of the four with no problem.

  4. We have cruised on 6 different cruise lines to include RCCL and Carnival and in my opinion it comes down more to the specific ship than the line when comparing the two. They are more alike than different. One cruise lines employees are not necessarily happier, or more helpful, etc than another, just depends what ship you happen to be on. Have had issues when sailing both and excellent experience with both. Food and activities are subjective, what is good for one is not for another.

I would suggest giving the other cruise lines a try as they all have something different to offer.

  5. Booked an 11 night partial panama canal cruise very port intensive. HMC, Aruba, Curucao, Cartagena, PC, Panama and Costa Rica. First time on HAL have done mostly CCL. Major differences on both.

I would choose HAL over Carnival anytime without hesitation, HAL is definitely a couple of steps above with regards to service and food. The comments I have read on here to the effect of the ship rolling up its carpets at 9 and people with walkers and canes all over are over blown. While the average age of the HAL cruiser is bit older than Carnival we found plenty of younger passengers also.

  6. I know of the most popular parking but it is all so expensive. does anyone have or know of some alternatives? thanks for your help!

We have used Park Right, I believe it is $28.00 a day, but there is also usually a promo code online for an additional 10% off. Only about a 5 -7 minute easy walk to and from the ship.

  7. I would not worry about the check in time on your boarding documents as they are fairly much ignored and never enforced. Most people arrive for check in at a time that is convenient for them.

I am surprised that your cruise check in doesn't start until 12:30 because usually most sailings check in starts around 10:00 with boarding starting around 11:00.

My guess would be with that late of of a check in start that would be a lot of people all ready waiting at time.

    Enjoy your cruise.

  8. Yes, there is the free Miami Trolley which you can navigate all over Miami, but only if you can figure out all the different routes and where to transfer. The Coral Way Route is the one that goes to and from Dodge Island, but finding the stop at the port is not that easy because there is no shelter, no bench, just a small sign by a parking lot on N American Way on the south side of the Port Administration Building. That is located at the far NW end of Dodge Island across from the Disney Terminal (and I've never seen a Disney ship there). If you pull it up on Google Maps - Earth View you can zoom in until you see the little, blue bus icon...

The next stop or two of the shuttle is the Arena/Bayside Marketplace/Freedom Tower

It's a pretty good hike from Dodge Island across the causeway to Bayside Marketplace (especially from the Carnival and NCL terminals), so you better be wearing comfortable shoes and used to walking if you want to try it. Great view, though.

Thank you for the detailed information, sounds like something doable.

Just a couple of questions, is it safe to walk across the causeway and if so how far a walk is it to Bayside Marketplace?

  9. We are leaving next weekend on a cruise with the port of Miami as a stop, and since we have never been there I have a few questions that I hope somebody may be able to help me with.

I had heard that there were some free shuttles at the port that take you to a few places, do they still do this and is so where do they drop you at?

Any interesting things to do that are within walking distance of the port?

Any recommendations for something within walking distance or taking the shuttle?

Thanks in advance for any info.

  10. Back from the Grandeur of the seas sailing from 1-23-17 to 2-4-17 and I've recovered from my post cruise depression so I'll be glad to answer any questions.

Hope you enjoyed your cruise, I do have a couple of questions.

Do you know if they are allowing people to bring on there own case of water, would like tie be able to just put a luggage tag on it and drop off with luggage?

Is the show in the main theater done once or twice on the first night?

Thank you in advance for any info.

  11. My family is cruising to Bermuda from Manhattan in June and I'm looking for some advice. I've read back a bunch of pages in the East Coast departures and my head is spinning from all the different possibilities.

We are driving from Buffalo. Because of work schedules I'm pretty sure we won't be able to leave until the early morning of the cruise. It's about a 6-7 hour drive. I'm debating either sucking it up and paying for the convenience of parking right at the pier(or a parking lot close by?).or the possibility of saving enough money to make it worthwhile enough(while still being semi convenient)to park at Weehawken and taking the ferry over? What am I actually paying for the ferry parking? Is it actually a savings once you pay for the ferry?

Am I missing any other options? I'm open to anything on the convenient side. We will have an 18month old with us as well. So convenience/semi convenience is important.

    Thanks!

I would recommend using Park Right for parking. It is only a five minute walk from the ship. We drop our luggage off and then park and walk back to ship, very simple. They will also drop you off at the ship if you prefer.

The cost was only about $20 a day, we used an discount code that they gave us over the phone if we wanted to book online.
