I've read before that on Bliss they were offering (in addition to lunch at Margaritaville) 50% Food Republic on the first night of the cruise. Do they still offer this?  Offer it on the Encore?

I don’t have an answer for yo, but noticed you’re celebrating your 50th soon. Me too! My big Five O is in June! Happy early half century David!

Actually I have only sailed in the Haven a few times....I would rather cruise often and have a less expensive cabin then pay those prices.  I understand where you are coming from but the Haven guests would only have access to the beach area and the Villa renters would have the perks they paid for by renting the villa.

I finally made it to GSC a few years ago 1 out of 4 tries

I think the problem is that even if the Haven guests got access to the Silver Cove beach area, where would they sit? The umbrellas and loungers are reserved for the villa renters, so unless they brought in a bunch more, there is really no place for Haven/non villa renters to sit on the beach. Also - unless they brought in more butlers to serve the Haven/no villa people, it would mean less service for those who paid a hefty sum to rent the villas - and this could also impact the private Silver Cove Buffett. If all Haven/no villa people used it, it would become a lot more crowded and less appealing.

I was there last week and had pre-booked a Studio Ocean Front Villa and was upgraded to a Studio Lagoon Villa for no charge. I simply had a paper in my cabin letting me know along with my shorex ticket. Inside the villa you will get a fridge included with about 10 water bottles, a fruit platter, chips & salsa. You're also able to fill out a food order the night before at an additional charge (shrimp cocktail, cheese board etc.). The only issues about this new part of GSC is that the lagoon empties as the day goes on due to the tide. The incline from the lagoon back to your villa is also pretty steep, but first world problems. Drinks at the Moet bar start at about $25 and it was absolutely empty the whole time I was there.

I’m curious as to why the lagoon villa is an upgrade over the ocean front. Can you please explain?

Michelle, I saw where you posted that you got the 3 or 6 bottles of liquor per week for the OS or GV in a previous post. May I ask what your actual experience was? We are going on a 21 day cruise and are wondering what to expect.  6 bottles for a week and 6 bottles for 3 weeks is a big difference.  Thanks! How was your trip?

When we cruised the garden villa back to back, so  essentially two 7 night cruises, we received 12 bottles (6 each week). When I was in an owner’s suite for 7 nights, we got 3 bottles.

Both experiences were phenomenal! Amazing service from the butler on both cruises, and ridiculously amazing service from Roel(concierge) on the Garden Villa Cruise.  I personally love the perk of the unlimited bottled water, soda, etc. in those cabins. Believe it or not, besides the incredible service and of course the size of the cabins, the bottled water really is a huge perk!

  6. Who was your concierge? We were on the Dawn in the GV last March and had the absolute BEST CONCIERGE EVER, Roel. He came to our villa multiple times a day to check on us, and personally escorted us off the ship when we left the ship. He also personally escorted us to dinners while on the ship. Let’s just say, he was amazing! Our butler, Jane, was also fabulous! We are almost all meals in the villa and she was always there serving with a smile. She would always leave the villa with a “ Just call Jane!” She truly enjoyed her job and it was evident in her level of personal service.  She even figured out r4al quickly what our favorite snacks were and brought them every day.

This is a new prepaid offer but offering zero discount or advantage that just rolled out August 1st.

Norwegian Dawn's ( ?? )satellite WiFi works but otherwise, it's just average to slow, and very sluggish at peak usage times - and due to overhead orbiting coverage, unusable at times (relative to the better server/hardware on the Escape, Breakaway & Getaway ...)

Streaming wirelessly is probably, at best, 50:50 odds of being to sustain a high latency, reliable connection that'll buffer, given the finite bandwidth it can support - just imagine your 200 Mbps Fios home/office connection with 25+ (ports/connections) nodes, most of them streaming on Prime, Pandora, Sling TV and Apple TV all at the same time.

It's your money, feel free to spend it but since there is no advanced purchased discount and this is something that isn't going to sell out, and, you cannot apply or use any non-refundable OBC to offset by prepaying, why not wait until you are onboard to test the connectivity, then decide whether to splurge

Thank you! Yeah, we probably won’t do it, but I thought I’d get some input on it.

  8. We were on the Dawn this past March in a suite. Granted, it was the Garden Villa, but we loved the Dawn so much we booked her again for March of 2020, next time in an Owner’s suite with 2 balconies. Here are the reasons, in my opinion, why suites are an absolute must if you can afford one:

    1. Priority embarkation and disembarkation  - I personally despise lines, so any way to avoid them I’m all in.

    2.  Butler service - I love having breakfast in the room and love the special treats, and treatment, aka service, the butlers provide.

    3.  Concierge service - this can be spotty, depending on the concierge, but Roel is on the Dawn and he is FABULOUS! I mean, he trains the butlers...he is that good.

    4.  The suite itself - I like having room to spread out. I know many people say they spend zero time in their cabins, but we are the opposite. We spend a lot of time in our cabin/suite. For us, cruising is about alone time spent together relaxing.  We do venture out, but we enjoy movies in the room, alone time on the balcony, etc.

    Hope this helps you!

  9. We have stayed in one of the deck 10 owner's Suites on the Pearl (similar to Dawn). The deck 10 suites have a larger bathroom and larger living room area, with a bump out for the dining table, leaving more room in the actual living area.  The front balcony is still huge, and the bridge is above deck 10, so it is very quiet.  I highly recommend deck 10 over deck 9, if you have a choice.  We liked it so much on the Pearl, we have booked a cruise next year on the Dawn in a deck 10 owner’s suite.

  10. OP - did you see the drunk guy on the stage with the dancers at the white hot party? He totally messed up their performance.  We were on the ship the week before as well and saw the dancers perform at the party.  To bad that guy screwed them up. Although, he was fun to make fun of. Lol

  11. We just spent 2 fabulous weeks on the Dawn in the Garden Villa.  It was the trip of a lifetime! The villa is amazing, but even more amazing was the service and friendship we received from our butler Jane Sartin and concierge Roel Gonzalez.   These 2 are absolutely the best and I hope to see them again some day! If you’re lucky enough to be sailing the Dawn in a suite in the near future, hopefully you too will get to meet these 2 amazing people.

I am wondering if we will be given unlimited bottled water in this suite,

or do I need to order a package for the cabin.  We have the drink package,

but we like bottled water at night by the bed.  Thanks for anyone who knows.

This owner’s suite comes with 3 bottles of liquor and unlimited soda, mixers and bottled water. I have stayed in this same suite on the Pearl.  Enjoy!
