  1. We will be cruising out of P.R. In March and want to buy some wine and champs to bring on the ship. (Yes, we know there is a cork fee). Where is the best place to buy decent wine and champs in Old San Juan?

I personally like Mumm Napa pink sparkling wine, which is about $15 a bottle at Costco in AZ. Hubs likes reds in the $10-$15 range.   Hoping to buy in this price range, although I assume the prices will be higher given that PR is an island.

‘Is it better to taxi it to Costco to get it or buy in the OSJ area?

Are there still DVD players on the Pearl?  Haven't they removed them from the suites?  (They certainly did on the Gem and Jewel, at least in the Penthouses.)

We were on the Pearl last March and there was a DVD player in the living area of the Owener’s suite.

My wife and I just booked the Norwegian Star for a 14 night British Isles cruise in May of 2020.

We’ve cruised extensively with Carnival and Celebrity but never on NCL. This was completely an itinerary driven decision. None of the others had this fantastic itinerary as well as the perks.

Though it’s almost a year and a half away we are excited and looking forward to taking lots of places off our “bucket list” and experiencing NCL.

Any thought or comments on NCL and what to expect compared to CCL and Celebrity will certainly be appreciated.

We booked this cruise as well, also because of the itinerary,  but we love NCL.  It is on the Jade though,  not the Star.  I’d recommend booking a full suite if you can swing it, because NCL suites have the best perks!

  4. Owners suites and garden villas do come with binoculars and slippers, at least in my experience. In fact, I think our 2 bedroom Haven suite on the Getaway had binoculars we well. They were in the desk in the living room.

Been on Epic twice and loved it each time.  I prefer Epic over the Getaway.  I have yet to sail the Breakaway-Plus models so I cant compare them. I have always said that if you could slap a waterfront on the Epic, she still would be the best ship at sea.

I agree with this 100 %! I’ve been on  the Getaway and the Epic and much preferred the Epic. It is my favorite ship!

Lets split the difference.  Its fine as a latitudes perk.  But maybe they can afford something better for the suites?  As others mentioned, I would prefer spring water and it would be cheaper for NCL.  NCL seems to hoard spring water LOL.  You can order a $15 alcoholic drink but your drink package wont give you a $1.50 bottle of water.  Go figure!

While the sparking wine is not great, its not as bad as the house Merlot they sometimes give away. I can drink cheap wine (including the poor sparking wine) but not that stuff.  It burns my throat like gasoline :classic_blink:

They give real champagne, Moët and Chandon for OS and above. ❤️  Drink that first then move to the cheap Latitude bottle when you’re buzzed and can’t tell the difference. Lol
