We have just booked half world cruise,Sydney to Dover,  we are hoping to go into London for 2 nights then head over to Heathrow to flights home.

Where do I start? What should I know? Any suggestions on what not to miss in our short time there?

We are onboard the Explorer of the seas at the moment.

Booked thru a travel agent , it is a popular one ,know I can't name them ,wish I could.

We checked with the agent about our onboard credit, assured that it would be on our account once we were onboard,or within the FIRST day or so.

We waited and waited, finally went to guest services who suggested we ring our agent.

Contacted them to be told that yes they were aware of the problem (There is 4 couples in the same situation as well, that we know of).

They aren't able to give us our onboard credit ,whilst we are onboard.

But we are required to spend the amount and then forward our account to them to be reimbursed... WHEN we arrive home.

I will be ringing in the morning and asking to speak to a supervisor. Refuse to talk to a call centre again.

I think being fobbed off when we ask for the obc ,that was part of our booking contract,which should be on our account this cruise,is not a satisfactory solution.

Just annoying.

Congrats on a great upgrade,I believe you are entitled to all the extra benefits under the Sky royal suite class which are quite comprehensive.Consult the FAQ-Royal suite class for more detail, but for about $180 a day it looks like a good deal to me.If you don't mind me asking what is your loyalty status with RCI.I am booked on ovation 2 cruises after yours & would love an upgrade,currently in an D4 balcony on deck 13.As I am only gold loyalty status I don't hold out much hope.10 cruises down, never a hint of an upgrade,

I am Diamond,but this is the first big upgrade on RCI,I am thinking it was something to do with having booked this cruise a few minutes after it first came available, over 500 days away.

Certainly wasn't expecting it, but very excited about the upgrade.

Just had Deb at my place, and she has most certainly got a great upgrade, we Googled and Youtubed;p......the Coastal Kitchen looks good for her and the Concierge Club has great windows and views. We just couldnt print her luggage tags as they still had the old cabin on them:(

Congrats on getting the 'Frank Sinatra Suite.' In 28 cruises never had an upgrade, maybe because I don't believe in fairies.:o

 

Angel...If you go onto RCI website I am sure it will tell you all about the 'Grand Suites,' Pictures even. Above all enjoy. How many days for the $1800 ?

Have a grand suite on the Ovation ,due to the upgrade fairy ,was booked in a balcony solo deck 6 ,now midship on deck 13.yipee!

Anyone know what perks the Grand Suites have?

Had a suite on penthouse Celebrity, and didn't know that it included all your drinks,till the last day.

Don't want to do that again .

Last year on the Voyager of the Seas, there was a man escorted off the ship in Brisbane by police,believe that he was charged , the previous evening he was caught in the disco, very drunk,pulling girls knickers down and taking inappropriate pic's, he was on the cruise with his wife, he was screaming to everyone going off at the port that he wanted a refund for entire cruise, his wife followed him with luggage. I felt sorry for her.

Found a better than normal pricing for a Xmas cruise on Explorer of the Seas, promende cabin, $1972 ,Balcony is $3000.Still expensive but cheap for a Xmas -New Year, 12 days from 22nd of December. Internet travel agent,tips are even included.

I had a guarantee balcony coming up on my Voyagers of the Seas,leaving 19th Feb, I scored a Superior balcony ,deck 8 near the aft ,when they rang to see if I wanted a paid upgrade to a balcony guarantee recently I declined ,I explained that I would be already on board and didn't want to risk a guarantee ,as I am doing 3 consecutive cruises on this ship anyway ,she said she could book me any one of the closet balconies available ,so I was able to book a balcony at the AFT ,(for a grand sum of only $150 extra,-solo cruise) and still keep my OBC bargain ,right on the corner with a wrap around balcony , I had previously had a aft cabin before,so love them .

Sometimes a guarantee can be wonderful,sometimes not .But still love the fresh air and the sounds from a balcony .

There is a balcony deal on Voyagers of the sea -27th Feb from Sydney 7 day ,at only $571 each ,inside and outside and balcony all at the same price ,on the RCI site.

I am already on this cruise ,so got cheeky :Dand I just rang and they offered me a upgrade to an outside cabin from my inside for nothing ,or a $150 to a balcony ,not bad for a solo cruiser .:D
