  1. The CONLUSION to this Story! Yay!! :D

We now have an Extended Balcony Midship.

T.A. has said she "will look after us" with some OBC.

So will find out once on board.

♥♥♥♥ Thank you to everyone!... ♥♥♥♥

...for your support, & allowing me to vent some of the initial disappointment & frustration. It REALLY helped a lot!

Finally got the cases out & started thinking about packing for next week.

Hi Tildi , I have been watching to see the outcome

So glad it is all sorted out for you ,sounds like you have a lovely Balcony cabin now:D

    Cheers Deb

    Enjoy your cruise !!!

  2. Hi everyone,

Celebrity Century next week , prices have dropped , under $1000 for 2 people , balconies are super cheap also , plus port fees .:D:D:D

14 day out of Singapore, Brunei, Vietnam, Bangkok and Singapore.

Flights are good prices, accommodation in Singapore still available. I'm on this cruise.

    Cheers Deb

  3. Hi everyone,

I have just had conversion rates confirmed, after watching this thread I decided I would put $500 on my account ,ready for my upcoming cruise, checked today both the receipt from Celebrity and my bank account, looks like it is $ to $ exchange rate.:D

Thank you everyone for posting on this thread.

    Cheers Deb.

  4. Quincy Hotel is definitely rated an Excellent hotel. But it is expensive compare to the location. I think location wise, there are better hotels like Swissotel the Stamford, Fairmount.

Chinese New Year on the 19th and 20th Feb. A lot of shops will be closed. However attractions like the Museums, Singapore flyer and Garden by the Bay are open. Sentosa Island is also open.

Chinese New Year (2nd day), the Istana (Presidential ground) is open for public from 8:30am to 6pm. Please note that a $1 enterance fee is require for Foreigners. There are guided tours that cost S$2 extra. You would not get to do this on normal days.

    Have fun. :D

    Hi ASing1Cruise,

We were offered a fantastic discount from our travel consultant for the hotel,we did consider the 3 other hotels you mentioned ,but it was over a $300 cheaper than the Swissotel,Stamford or the Fairmont, for the 3 day stay. Also had a friend who had stayed at the Quincy, they said it was great hotel with extras ,we are being collected from the airport and breakfast.

    Cheers Deb

  5. Your ship will be docked at the Marina Bay Cruise Center. For embarkation day, the easiest way is to get a taxi to the cruise center. Taxis are relatively inexpensive in Singapore. Make sure you go to the Marina Bay Cruise Centre and not the one at Harbourfront.

I will have to remember to go the right place for the ship, last time I was on a cruise ,we only spent the day there. (Always wanted to come back and explore the lovely Singapore)

I was onboard the Diamond Princess,we were at Harbourfront, that time.

    Cheers Deb :D

  6. We will be arriving on the 19th Feb , have been told that it will be the Chinese New Year, that there may be many places closed, what places will be still open whilst the New Year is celebrated.Apart from the parades that I believe will be happening ,is there special activities we should not miss???

Has anybody been in Singapore for the Chinese New Year? What sort of things do I need to 'Must not miss" ?

    Cheers Deb

  7. Hi Everyone,

I am doing a cruise out of Singapore next month, finally found out why the accommodation in Singapore in so much dearer than other time of the year.

It's the Chinese New year ! Just a few questions.

Has anyone been in Singapore at this time of the year? What happens apart from the parades, is there anything that you could suggest as a not to miss activity, we are there for 3 nights prior to the cruise, will there be places closed due to the celebration for the Chinese new year ?:D

    Cheers Deb.

  8. Hi Everyone,

I have checked this hotel with t*********,( not sure if we are allowed to use)the reviews seem to be very positive about the Quincy .

I am doing a pre-cruise holiday 3 days ,questions I would like to ask are ,is it best just to catch a taxi on boarding day (Celebrity Century ), or is it possible to catch trains or buses or maybe walk it to the ship from the Quincy? Alos what tips would you suggest ,do tours or is it possible to do it on our own to explore Singapore ?

    Thanks

Great deal for Pacific Pearl, inside cabin $549 twin or $599 for outside cabin. 7 nights, only 2 ports but still good pricing .P&O Pearl 18th Jan 2015.think it will sell out fast

    Cheers Deb

  10. Could you comment on the royal suite compared to the penthouse - thanks.

    Hi Adidas4fun,

Sure can , if I had the chance I would book the Royal suite instead of the Penthouse suite ,it was done in dark timber and had a lovely feel about it ,it was much larger than I expected it to be,but had a separate dinning area with a table and 4 chairs ,(but enough room for 2 more chairs) .It was a very good size suite for 2 persons .The balcony was huge with table and chairs and 2 lounges and lots of open space left.

    Cheers Deb

  11. Celebrity Century –will post pics soon.

I will admit that I was a bit worried about how I was going to find the ship, after reading previous reviews. But my fears were unfounded. She is beautiful, the timber around the ship made it feel old world, but very elegant.

Will try to break the review into sections, to make it easier to read the parts that may be of interest to you

I had the pleasure of travelling twice, once in a Sky Suite on deck 12. (1221) sailed with a girlfriend for this cruise. October 22nd -30th. Loved the whole experience of as Sky Suite.

Then on the second cruise in the Penthouse Suite. (1048). Sailing with family and friends .November 11th -18th

It seems unfair to review them both at the same time as it was a totally different experience’s in each . If asked, I am happy to return to the Sky Suite ,the Penthouse didn't spoil me.

    Cabin review .Sorry Suite reviews.

The Sky Suite (1221) this was a very good size, plenty of storage, was still finding cupboards on the last day .The balcony was huge compered to my other cruises on P&O and Princess and Carnival. It was partly covered; it had plenty of room for the 2 loungers and the table and chairs (which could have easily had 4 chairs around it. Great for just lazing about, reading a book or having breakfast on it. Bathroom had a spa bath, which was a normal sized bath with the shower over it .The butler Elmer was wonderful, I had never had a butler before on any of my previous cruises, but he was very obliging, made us feel at home, nothing was too much for him. I found the bed hard and when he asked about my previous night’s sleep I mentioned the hardness of the bed, when we returned after breakfast, he had organised an egg crate overlay to be put on – lovely blissful sleep after that .The cabin was spotless at all times. Toiletries were replaced every day. I actually enjoyed the cabin size, thought that it was a perfect size for an even longer cruise than our 8 day cruise, I am perfectly happy to be booked into the same cabin for our 14 day South East Asian cruise next year. If you looked you could see that balcony was looking tired, but everything was neat and clean. I certainly couldn’t find anything to complain about.

Penthouse Suite. (1048). as we were travelling in a group, we made my suite the drop-in cabin. So had plenty of visitors, after the cabin crawl I extended the invitation to the Cruise Critic fellow passengers , so always had someone there, lovely, as the suite was far too big for just me alone. There was 3 huge TV's ,2 in the lounge area and 1 in the bedroom,

the suite was huge (approx 6 times bigger than the inside cabins),it was nearly bigger than my entire own home, it was done in neutral colors and had lovely polished timber floors, with press button window coverings .there was a butlers kitchen with a microwave and a side by side fridge ,taller than me.With a door to the outside for the butler, discovered my room key would open it from the outside,It had a front foyer with a hall table with a 5 inch security monitor for the entrance , there was a separate guest bathroom ,done in black marble ,the separate bedroom was huge with a king size bed angled across the room with a lacquered Chinese bedhead ,2 armchairs and a table .similar to a parents retreat in the corner .It had a separate dressing room ,a walk in wardrobe with mirrors everywhere .There was a door from the bedroom leading out to the balcony ,that had a huge table and chairs ,2 coffee tables and 2 lovely armchairs ,which were extremely comfortable ,came back from being out to the Spa ,to discover my 2 girlfriends asleep on them ,it was so funny .I had left them to enjoy my balcony as they were in an inside cabin ,and they went to sleep. There was also a whirlpool bath that fitted 2 persons as well. The other door leading to the balcony was off the lounge room.

The lounge room had a huge 3 seat lounge,2 huge leather armchairs with matching ottomans (very comfortable) plus 2 other arm chairs ,as well a lovely writing table and chair ,the dining room table had 6 chairs around it ,but there was plenty of room for another 4 chairs .

The main bathroom (light marble) had separate toilet, huge round shower with seat in it ,a huge spa bath ,that 6 people could fit into yes we have pics .Double vanity sinks .

We had a cabin crawl, started out with the inside cabin, outside cabin and a Royal suite , with the Penthouse Suite being the last to inspected ,so I had asked for nibbles to be served for 25 people ,but what we ended up with was incredible ,trays of hot food ,finger food ,trays of shrimp, sandwiches ,bottles of champagne ,which were replaced when they ran out ,jugs of fresh squeezed orange juice ,the stuffed mushrooms were brilliant. They arrive with 2 trolleys and there was 3 wait staff that delivered it. - 4 hours later, it has to be the longest cabin crawl I have ever been on. I had a ball.

Any questions about either of the cabins I can try to answer before I go on to the next section?

    Cheers Deb .

  12. Hi Everyone,

Just thought I would let you know that being on the Century is fantastic, I have my children and grand-kids on-board with me ,they are loving the food and the activities.

I have been living it up in the Penthouse suite ,it is huge and I am treated like a princess,my daughter has the interconnecting door so have had lots of visits from my little grandson.

We had a cabin crawl what fun we were having ,on the 12th ,started at 11am ,continued on in the Penthouse suite for about 4 hours , the butler asked what we would like for nibbles ? in the end we had everything from prawns to cheeses, small tasters of the different foods available, so many trays kept coming in hot and cold appetizers and starters, butler disappeared and returned with more bottles of champagne ,yes we have pics ,will put them up when I get home ,we all very happy .

We are having a sail away party tomorrow ,yes in the Penthouse again .

Off to another great show ,then a another lovely dinner in the grand restaurant.

Will post a review when I get home ,but will say now that this is the best cruise I have ever had ,everything is perfect .So glad I already have another cruise booked on here for next year.

    Cheers Deb

  13. Thanks angelwingsflys , looking forward to your review.

    Hi retired,

I stayed at the B&B prior to our cruise ,Would stay there again ,beds were comfy, breakfast was great .the hosts Linda and James were great . Location to the overseas Passenger Terminal was easy walk but as I had so much luggage I chose to take a Taxi down there ,under $8.00. Taxi rank is just next door ,easy, just don't tell the taxi driver where you want to go till you are in the Taxi.(these words of wisdom was shared by James ).They prefer to have a longer fare .

Walking distance to many attractions ,shops and cafes and restaurants.

Shops were easily walked to from the accommodation .Turn left at the front of the B&B ,follow road down to the left ,turn right at the intersection towards the center of Sydney, shops were easily accessed.

We found a Irish pub in Circular Quay , The Paragon Hotel ,just behind the McDonald's at Circular Quay , value plus meals,we were there on a Tuesday night , Rump Steak with Chips and salad ,with a choice of sauces ,mushroom, garlic and Dianne ,all for $12 each. 1 of the best meals I have had in the city.

You should be comfortable at the Townhouse.Spoke to a lovely couple who were staying in it and they said it was lovely.

Enjoy your holiday in The Rocks.

    Cheers Deb

    PS. bonus FREE in-room WI-FI.

  14. Perhaps angelwingsflys is planning on connecting to a white noise app?

I usually find it hard to wear the in-ear headphones but did have a pair many years ago that were very comfortable and I used to fall asleep wearing them quite often.

    '

    Hi OzKiwiJJ,

Yes I have the white noise app, very good deduction,to work it out:) . I noticed that they can't be picked up at JB ,only ordered,so that it will be a case of having to find them when I am in Sydney on Tuesday ,cruise Wednesday ,have left it too late ,will be on a shopping spree pre cruise so should be able to find some or other brands in the city.

To everyone who replied thank you for ideas.:)

    Cheers Deb

  15. JB Hi Fi show them online but I was unable to see if they were available instore. There are three stores in the central CBD.

One in the big Westfield complex in Pitt St Mall, one in the Strand Arcade (almost opposite), and one in Galeries Victoria on George St opposite the Queen Victoria Building.

Thank you OzKiwiJJ, That is exactly what I wanted ,will find one of them when I am in the big smoke !

    Cheers Deb

  16. Hi Everyone ,

I have a strange or weird question but I will be in Sydney next week prior to my cruise and after research have decided to buy ' Klipsch" headphones .

but where to buy is the question?

    Does anyone know ?

or can anyone recommend a brand of head phones that would be suitable?

It must be in Sydney due to time restrictions, prior to the cruise .

    Cheers Deb :)

(PS . I need earphones as my cabin mate is a snorer.I decided it may be best to invest in them. Rather than risk a friendship ;)and a good nights sleep.)
