  1. We had the penthouse on Century. It is not as large as Penthouse on M Class ships, but a very nice cabin. Yes, there is a butler, he will deliver meal to your room, set the table, and if dinner, bring in each course one at a time. There is a full bar set up, with two, if I remember correctly, of liquors included. You are free to have a party in the room, the butler will take care of you. It is a great way to travel, enjoy it. The only problem....... It is hard to go back to smaller cabins once you have enjoyed a Penthouse

Thank you for your reply . as I have never sailed in anything higher than a mini suite ,on the Pacific Dawn (PO ship).I have a feeling the penthouse will be somewhat bigger than anything that I ever seen or been in on cruise ship.

So just having a penthouse sounds like a wonderful opportunity and incredible to me.

  2. Hi Everyone ,

I am considering to booking a Penthouse on the Celebrity Century.

A butler ? what does a butler actually do .

What sort of requests can you ask of him?

What are the perks that I can get ?

I was reading somewhere that suites get a free bar setup is this true ?,or do i need to pre- order a drinks package .

Is there anything else, that is known either an advantage or disadvantage?

I am travelling with all my children and grandchildren.- one of the grandchildren has a disability so he may be easily upset on his first cruise .

As the ship is nearly booked out so the choices are slim ,someone cancelled the penthouse suite whilst on I was on the phone to Celebrity Cruises. Suite is on a hold . there are only inside cabins and less ideal cabins left.

They have offered it at a great discount for 1 person, in the suite ,it is so tempting, but will it be worth it ?

the rest of the family have already booked their own cabins . If I do book it wouldn't tell them till they met me in the afternoon at my cabin

but thought we may have a few parties in the penthouse . I know I can have my own dinner in my suite ,but would they serve your guests as well.

    Cheers Deb

  3. I am glad that they finally responded, even if it wasn't good news.

Perhaps, as you say, the lesson is learnt and they will not get your custom again but in the meantime, at least you have found out that you are definitely booked and will go ahead with the trip.:D

    Hi Everyone ,

The moral to this story is don't book thru the 1st cruise agent you come across

I think I have got my message out there now !

    Cheers Deb

  4. Just in case anyone is wanting to know ,. what has happened

,The mandatory costs and their fee would take all of the deposit ($1,000 each ). Since it is a package deal.. It appears that the deposit to Carnival is $330,since they have a bulk bookings for the agent. So will just have to stay where it is for the time being.

Lesson learnt ,will be keeping my fingers crossed, and next time I will not go with my first choice again! :(

    Cheers Deb

  5. You say that you have booked a package deal of cruise/flights/accommodation. It is likely this was put together by the TA so how could you transfer this booking to the cruise line? Am I missing something?:)

It was a package deal ,but not sure they have a booking paid at the airlines ,couldn't find it with the booking no they gave me ,:mad:that is one of the things that I am concerned about , when I rang the Accommodation in Singapore to request a outside window ,they said that I didn't have a reservation there , with the booking number that the agent had given me ,even asked if it could be in the Travel agents name etc ... No ,:(

That is the main reason I wanted to transfer to the cruise booking to the cruise line. So at least I still have the cruise ...Getting a bit nervous about the whole booking at this stage .

I have been trying to ring ,but the number goes straight to an answering machine ,and all emails are being ignored,or at least they haven't replied.

    Cheers Deb

  6. Thank you for all your replies ,

Cruise final payment isn't till November, cruise is 22 Feb next year .

I reread the terms and conditions ,it states $50 per person to alter anything ,then in the fine print ,it says all mandatory fees would also be due,if cancelled  as this was a package deal(Flights ,accommodation and cruise $990 deposit paid per person .(BAD MISTAKE ) A lesson to be learnt here .

Appears that I would have to pay all mandatory fees + $50 ,but these have not been disclosed at this stage.

I have sent another email asking what the mandatory charges would be ? but they don't answer my emails !!!!

I had been getting nervous about the new rules:( re travel agents that come into play at the end of the month ,so this one of the reasons that I wanted to transfer to the cruise line to ensure that the cruise still goes ahead . Really can't afford to lose the full deposit at this stage .

    Cheers Deb

  7. Hi Everyone ,

Just starting to work out which countries we need to get Visa's.cruise is Feb 2015 on the Celebrity Century.

I am finding conflicting advice from 2 different travel agents,

Singapore, Singapore,we are staying 3 days before cruise then 2 extra days after total 5 days.

    Bandar Seri, Brunei 1 day

    Nha Trang, Vietnam 1 day

    Phu My, Vietnam 1 day

Bangkok (Laem Chabang), Thailand 3 days.

Can anyone assist me in getting the right information ? :)

    Cheers Deb

  8. Hi Everyone ,

    Cheap international flights Sale !!!:)

Just a heads up for anyone who is going overseas either to connect for a cruise or wanting a holiday . Qantas has a great sale on at the moment ,return flights to Singapore for approx $699 each - which is a great deal ,it was $1240 each.-only last week when I checked ,there are heaps of other destinations around the world ,the sale ends 29/04/2014

    Cheers Deb

  9. Deb - Thanks for clarifying - so is a Balcony Gty a different category than Concierge class? I can't see that option listed on their site listing

Looks like you took up a couple of extra nights accommodation over the package inclusion

Great tip on the mailing list voucher - it all counts!

    Hi Bodogbodog,

The balcony gets us a balcony or higher We may end up anywhere on the ship( happy with that ) we had originally wanted a balcony but they were either sold or hold (yesterday ) so this was a cheaper way they could get us onboard , we wanted the 3 days accommodation in Singapore ,so that we can explore, missed so much there last time I was there for just 1 day on a cruise.

To save $50 just by joining their mailing list ,is an extra cocktail or two

    Cheers Deb

  10. It's still up there on their www site at the moment - I'm sorely tempted but just wondering what condition the Century will be in as it's leaving the fleet pretty soon after!

So did you get it for $2429 for Concierge Class then?

February will roll around very quickly!

We ended up with a balcony Guarantee(happy with that:) ) ,with 3 nights accommodation in Singapore, so total was $2249,still a bargain in my books. The flights have gone up by $40 on the return flight but as I signed up for their mailing list and they sent out a $50 voucher so I used that to offset the increase. :)

  11. We thoroughly enjoyed both these places on our last cruise there.

The Blue Hole can be reached from either Santo or Champagne Bay - so yes, it is the same place.

Wala is wonderful and the people are lovely. Their village tours are great for only $5 - please pay them with notes and not coins. Apparently they do not get a good exchange rate on the coins so notes are much more valuable to them. You may find lots of locals on the beach trying to change the coins they have been given for notes so consider taking a bunch of $5 notes with you and changing their money for them. That would be so helpful to them :)

In Santo we just walked as far as we could and enjoyed the simplicity of the town. We got stuck in a torrential rain shower at one point but luckily we were close enough to the shops to be able to run and shelter under the awnings until it passed.

Hi annenic,Thankyou for your reply about the blue hole ,remember getting there last time in the back of a ute which had planks nailed in like seats ,that we sat on ,had bruising for days later ouch...Have been collecting all my $5 for the cruise spending money, sounds like they are going to be useful. Won"t go to the bank and cash them in now.. Will just keep them now for the islands .

    Cheers Deb

  12. We did both islands last December. Wala was one of our favourite stops. Easy snorkelling from the beach. Take a bunch of AUD$5 notes - you can buy beers on the beach, get a massage of get hairbraiding done. Some of the guys have shaded areas for you to sit under for a small fee.

Santo we did the ship's tour to the Blue Hole - nice, but no commentary or anything like that, apparently Champagne bay is the place to go. We also had a large earthquake the day we were there!

thanks Kay Bee, That sounds like the place I will be getting a massage ! thank you for reply,:)

    Cheers Deb
