  1. I've mentioned this in other threads. I do not buy the package for the reason you mention, but I'm glad people are, and I'm guessing the majority of the ship. It's high profits for the cruise line, people are happy paying for it for various reasons mentioned in this thread, and I hope is keeping cruise only cost down for the rest of us. Win/win/win for all.
  2. So, has there been more info released on the retreat area? It seems some of the early renderings didn't have a actual retreat area, it moved the retreat pool into the sanctuary? Is there going to be an adults only retreat area on the Sun Princess?
  3. You can ask for some and they will bring them to you.
  4. No. You can purchase bottles of water onboard,or drink what is available for free. We prefer to buy ours and bring onboard. Save a few dollars. Water, tea, and coffee are included for free.
  5. We stopped getting packages after the last price increase. I can pay for tips and wifi for a 7 day cruise and be $500 cheaper than a package for 2 people. We now just bring our own water and drinks we want onboard as needed at embarkation and stops. If we want a mocktail or specialty coffee we will just buy it.
  6. That sounds good, but you need to be sure that an upgrade is an upgrade. If you want to be in a particular location of the ship, you might not get upgraded there. Upgrades are subject to be downgrades depending on your preferences.
  7. Only if you drink a lot. It's extremely expensive. We just bring on board the non alcoholic drinks we want at embarkation and stops. Saves a ton of money. I suppose if you wanting a drink here and there, just pay for the ala carte.
  8. I mean, why not. People have shown they will pay extremely high prices for virtually anything without any thought to what they are doing.
  9. I would agree if you can drink enough soda items to make it worth while. We prefer coke zero and sprite zero, so I just buy packs and take onboard at embarkation and stops as needed. We find that works for us, and saves us a lot of money we can use for other things.
  10. I guess I have never had something like that happen, but I would be all over them if they did that. If you booked a cabin and marked no upgrade, you should not lose that cabin.
  11. Non drinkers should avoid those packages. No way to make it worth the cost. Buy soda and water and take on-board as needed.
  12. Yep, this kind of thing is going to cause headaches for passengers and crews as it continues to mushroom. If they start trying to charge for pool chairs in certain areas of the "public" pools, oh boy, won't that be fun. But can I see them doing that? Yes, they are now into "what can we do to extract more of people's money. This is going to continue to escalate.
  13. They give you an extension cord if you ask. I don't think they have issues with extension cords, just ones that have plugs on them, and could be surge protection. A simple extension cord should not raise any concerns.
  14. I bring these. A simple cord, and then an adapter that has plugs and USB. This should never be an issue for anyone.
  15. This whole "class" thing is going to keep things tense unfortunately. That and the fact that society is collapsing in many ways, including public behavior, are just going to get worse.
  16. I buy just a plain cord like they provide, and something to plug into it, like these: Accomplishes the same thing, and no question from security about it being surge. https://www.amazon.com/AmazonBasics-Extension-Cord-feet-Black/dp/B075BMVZ2N/ref=sr_1_1_ffob_sspa?crid=22X2Z4VDBYG4Q&keywords=extension+cord&qid=1689357521&sprefix=extension+cord%2Caps%2C141&sr=8-1-spons&sp_csd=d2lkZ2V0TmFtZT1zcF9hdGY&psc=1 https://www.amazon.com/Splitter-TROND-Extender-Charging-Accessories/dp/B07QV13WLN/ref=sr_1_5?crid=MMKEMGPZ39HF&keywords=multi+plug+outlet+extender&qid=1689676867&sprefix=multi+plug+outlet+extender%2Caps%2C121&sr=8-5
  17. At least n Florida, we have always brought 4 - 2 packs each. Have you been stopped and had them taken away?
  18. I think there was a "special" package for elite, so yes, that would be another. How many benefits are there left is probably a better question at this point.
  19. That is what I thought. Couldn't understand why a non surge protection extension cord would be an issue for anyone. Thank you.
  20. How many do you need? You mentioned two, and we were already talking about a third. If you are happy with the ongoing cuts, then good for you.
  21. Why, if it's no different than what they provide. As I mentioned above, I guess I prefer my own equipment to something that has not been in my possession. I try to keep my stuff clean, and often times extension cords over time look really dirty, and not something I want around medical equipment. I'm not against it overall, but if I'm bringing the same thing, why would it be confiscated?
