  1. She is still at the cruise terminal in Lisbon. Vigo has been dropped.
  2. I'm not surprised. Visited Cyprus this time last year for the first time. Fortunately we had an excellent hotel but was not at all impressed with the island, dirty and run down particularly the Paphos area. We would never return.
  3. Seen quite a few TikTok videos which are horrendous, Israel off the agenda for some time to come sadly.
  4. Apex has slowed to 6.8 knots before Cyprus so looks like plans are changing.
  5. It has nothing whatsoever to do with Apex other than that was the ship in Belfast today when the announcement was made. Celebrity would not have facilitated that if it wasn't a Celebrity contract. MJM have done some very high quality work in the past and I suspect this will relate to unfinished S class or perhaps M class ships. Time will tell.
  6. Your missing the point, no coincidence that MJM launched a recruitment drive and announced £150m contract on board a Celebrity ship. Something in the air
  7. This could be an interesting announcement today https://www.rte.ie/news/regional/2023/0908/1404125-mjm-marine/
  8. This is the area of the ship that suffered most of the damage including apparently at least one tender.
  9. 20% off a future cruise is a total insult for inconvenience, loss of a port and lost 4 days of the cruise.

  11. From that letter I would guess the next cruise will be cancelled and a shipyard visit necessary.
  12. Regulations require each side of cruise ships have enough lifeboats to accommodate 37.5% of the total number of persons on board (passengers and crew), 75% in total. Inflatable or rigid liferafts must accommodate the remaining 25% of passengers and crew. (SOLAS, Section II, Regulation 21, 1.1)
  13. Possibly need to reduce passenger numbers in light of reduced lifeboat capacity? Some may be flown home.
  14. Suspected that, if you haven't been on a Celebrity ship since the menus changed at the beginning of August, not much point in your post is there?
  15. I don't think anyone is referring to "fine dining" in this thread, rather to what is or is not an acceptable choice of food in the MDR. It was average enough on our last Silhouette cruise in 2019 and clearly has gone much downhill since then. We avoid the buffet as much as possible. We often found it it busy, not particularly hygienic (fault of guests rather than Celebrity) and for what we are paying, don't think it is a big ask to have a reasonably imaginative menu served to us as opposed to fine dining. Sorry but mash, carrots, and beans is just too basic!
  16. After several cruises, haven't cruised since Covid and was pretty sure I wasn't going to. My wife subtly convinced me to try it again and I relented despite reservations having heard how things have been in decline. This thread has me really concerned as what I'm reading about MDR dining would be completely unacceptable. We would not be fans of the buffet in the evening. I have a deposit paid on an Apex cruise to the Fjords next July and will watch developments with interest. I would rather lose the deposit than spend thousands on a cruise with sub standard food so a decision will have to be made before payment depending on feedback.
