  1. I did an Infinity Bay Resort day pass in Roatan. Beautiful hotel area, pool, shade under a palm tree or sun on the beach, restaurant/bar next to pool, great snorkeling, showers, etc. There were only 3 or 4 or us from ship so easy on time pickup and delivery back to the port at a time we all chose.
  2. I have an Odyssey cruise next Saturday 4/13. I received a Royal Up offer this morning.
  3. I live close to all south Florida ports so like you no flights and drive to ports. I really don't worry about cancellation for last minute illness or other reasons for missing my cruise ( mine are mostly casino cruises so not a big deal if emergency happens ). I do worry about medical costs when on a cruise. Being sick, hospitalized and having to be airlifted back to US could be a huge expense. It does depend on your risk tolerance, financial condition, what coverage you may have from a credit card and your personal insurance. I always have some travel insurance in place for those reasons.
  4. I always carry my own luggage. An airline carry-on size suitcase (22x14x9 or a little bigger ) and a backpack.
  5. I live close to the south Florida ports. I select my boarding time the following day and always find the 1-1:30 boarding time that I like to be available. Later times are always available also. I usually am parked around 1pm and watch the safety video in my car and head to check-in around 1:15 or so. Once onboard I go to my muster station and then to my room. Room has always been ready on my last 6 cruises.
  6. I always carry a copy of my passport when in any port. Original stays in the safe onboard.
  7. Very strong winds Tuesday caused a shutdown at Coco Cay. No ships scheduled today. Its common here in South Florida to have cool/cold fronts followed by very windy conditions. Winds expected to die down on Thursday.
  8. The weather in South Florida and vicinity has been poor this winter season. El Nino . Cool, gray, rainy almost every week December to date. I read El Nino will gradually weaken. Soon I hope.
  9. I agree folks need to be cautious. Not just in Nassau but lots of countries and major cities everywhere. Nassau has lots of ships in port nowadays which greatly increases the number of tourists. More tourists = more opportunities for crime. When I was younger I used to get approached to buy drugs on Bay Street often and whatever Paradise Island hotel we were staying at also.
  10. No fun to get those bites. I always carry and use a Deet product wherever I go to be safe.
  11. Thanks for posting. Ive traveled to Nassau over the 30-40 years and there have been many types of warnings to exercise caution. Usually not murders though. This is not the downtown, Cable Beach or Paradise Island area fyi. There is a much higher level of security in tourist areas but still be alert to your surroundings.
  12. My last visit there was April on Harmony. 9:30 ish took tram to South Beach. Plenty of front row loungers with umbrella. Nice sunny day. Water clear and calm. Lunch was nearby and no big lines. I went back to the ship about 1:30 as it got crowded. Back onboard the ship was pretty quiet. Solarium was empty. Enjoy!
  13. Don't recall seeing any. My lounger was in shade on east side of the pool. I just walked way down the beach and spent time there.
  14. I did RIU couple months ago. It gets my vote. Nice pool, swim up bar, lunch buffet, drinks included and smooth check in. You have to surrender your drivers license at check in. I went down to the beach and walked almost to the Ocean Club. Very few people on that stretch of beach.
  15. This type of dog makes most people feel good. Calm, friendly, happy, intelligent, patient and loving animals. Great emotional support dogs. Often found in hospitals. I think this dog is well taken care of and most certainly will be received favorably. Good idea.
  16. I would book as soon as possible. Reservations went quickly on my last Symphony cruise.
  17. My previous three cruises in the last year or so were Allure, Harmony and just a couple weeks ago Symphony. The Solarium was not crowded pretty much at any time of day. Nice picture!
  18. I wouldnt worry about other players. Ignore comments, play your game and enjoy yourself.
  19. My next cruises are 6 day on Symphony and 8 day on Odyssey! First time on both so I am looking forward to each one. Thanks to all for the comments.
  20. Cruise lines have huge Capital Expenditures. Couple that with large debt service that's not being covered with FCF thats now used for CapEx, high borrowing costs and weak balance sheets. Royal and others have billions that need to be refinanced I believe in 2024. With current rates its a lot of headwinds for this group.
  21. I have a solo ocean view balcony on Odyssey 8 night southern cruise in April. Deck 7 so above the lifeboats and no obstruction ( so it says). Price was right. I travel on long distance Amtrak trains in a full bedroom. 3 days 2 nights. Couch that turns into a bed, mirror and sink, chair, big window for viewing and bathroom/shower combo. Its 42 sq ft and it works! The 120 sq feet in the Odyssey will seem big 🙂
  22. It's tropical. December and January can have some rain at times. Rainy season is really June-October. Most likely it will be fine. Temps should be warm. Enjoy your cruise.
