  1. I think Sunday mornings are quicker than most other days/times, it’s one of those trips where traffic is expected.
  2. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a chocolate covered strawberry presented without the stem.
  3. I would definitely give yourself an hour to get back with bridge traffic, I don’t think the aquarium closes, just that security leaves at 6.
  4. When? We’ve done it twice, but got there at 9 am, grabbed some loungers and a locker (might not be available). You will want to go to the unlazy River (forget what it’s called) and try to get a tube, it will take you to some slides (definitely study a map). Lines will probably be long. What time does the ship leave? Definitely ditch the tour as soon as you get there, save the digs for the end. Slides and pools close at either 5 or 6. If your ship leaves later, just take a cab back ($5 pp).
  5. I live in the NYC area, yes it is recommended to get to the airport 2 hours before a domestic flight, security can be a nightmare. We are 25 minutes from Newark liberty, but sometimes fly from LaGuardia or jfk if costs are lower.
  6. We take an annual beach vacation with about 15, my sister and her kids, my family, and some SO’s, love it but it’s a lot of work, grocery shopping, cooking, cleaning, laundry, it is sometimes overwhelming even though we’ve find it for about 10 years. Since it’s just 2 families and we are close, it’s not crazy financially (as in how to split costs), I think a cruise would be so easy. RCL, NCL, Carnival all have ships with fun extras for kids.
  7. I don’t think there will be many kids with Easter not butting up to that week, our NJ school system isn’t off that week, NYC schools aren’t off.
  8. I think this is the closest chain (15 minutes away), $65 pp without tax and tip. That’s why I think moderno is a better deal than teppanyaki, since our closest habachi is around $30 pp before tax and tip. https://fogodechao.com/menu-detail/?location=5389&type=menu-dinner&id=422
  9. So, they went against their own policy and allowed her to order off of the kids menu, which is nice, but I don’t think she should’ve been allowed to eat off of your plates (if she did). I have 5 kids (now young adults) only once did one order off of the kids menu (middle child, she was 11), but we didn’t offer up our food. If sharing was possible I could see some of my kids ordering off the pay menu, and them sharing with siblings who ordered off the kids menu, to save $. It’s not really kids sail free, 3rd/4th in the cabin are usually included in that promo. I know on RCL it’s for those under 12.
  10. Hmm, I don’t know if they were asking if the $25 beach pass option would still be available in 2924 while construction of the new venue or if the new venue would be open (which I expect will be more than $25 for a day pass).
  11. If you are not booked in his cabin, you can be nowhere near his cabin.
  12. Things do happen, my husband had a meeting in DC last year, he usually just drives from NJ but decided to take Amtrak, downed power lines closed it up all day long.
  13. I’m going to estimate a basic meal closer to $15, I will ou I’d get pay anything for cruise like food on land. I’m curious why NCL charges about the same for the Brazilian steakhouse as a land one, but gouges on hibachi (here they run about $30 pp).
  14. If there are any available you will need to get on the ship asap.
  15. I’m in NE NJ with family in garden city, I’ve never seen a sign for a rest stop no matter what route we use. You could always find a gas station or fast food place off of exits.
  16. And even if you sign the beer and wine waiver he still gets the soda package and he will pay for beer and wine.
  17. When the kids were little, I’d check out height requirements. On our first family cruise to the Bahamas, we took our 9 and 11 year olds to Atlantis and left younger siblings on the ship with grandparents because they were too short for most things. Bahamas Mar has a 42” requirement for the wave pool and lazy River, most of my kids would’ve been too short at 3.
  18. I believe if the first 2 passengers get the drink package through free at sea, the 3rd doesn’t have to purchase it. The gratuity is around $20 pp pd, that’s cheaper than buying 2 drinks.
  19. It was a weird situation, her train came in but for whatever reason the driver couldn’t get to her.
  20. My daughter was charged $5 by Uber for canceling in Boston.
  21. If leaving from NY I’m starting my first load of laundry by 8:30 am.
  22. Our family of 7 has never made a MDR reservation and we’ve never had to wait for a table in the larger restaurant on any NCL ship. My plan was to grab a drink at the bar if we had to wait, every time I didn’t get my drink (I experienced slow drink service at the table).
