  1. Last year we took the local bus from the cruise terminal into the city and back. It was very easy and cheaper than the Princess shuttle. Found the bus routes and timetables on google.
  2. So can one person take 5 cases - asking for a friend with a shoe problem…….!!
  3. I wonder if there are any plans to mail medallions to British customers.
  4. In the first instance, have you contacted Saga with regards to their policy as to which electrical devices are allowed on the ships?
  5. There is a dock in Kirkwall at Hatston Pier which is about a 2 mile walk to the Cathedral. An NCL ship was docked when we were there so maybe there’s a shuttle bus for those passengers.
  6. This year on Regal we tendered into Kirkwall pier which is right on the edge of the town - about 5 minutes easy walk to the Cathedral.
  7. What a lovely review. It’s so refreshing to read a review so positive. May the travel gods continue to shine on you and your family.
  8. We missed our first port, Guernsey, as it was too rough for the pilot to get on, but it was warm on deck out of the wind (around 68 to 70 degrees). Cobh, Dublin and Liverpool were all about the same temperature which, for us Brits, was nice and definitely shorts weather. Belfast and Greenock were cool around the mid 60s (but still in shorts)! Orkney was the coldest - probably mid 50s and no shorts. Fleece jackets and hats were in evidence. Edinburgh was sunny, in the mid 60s but windy - we had lunch on the deck in shorts and t shirts. Le Havre was drizzle and misty first thing but warm and sunny (mid 60s) by lunchtime. In summary, British weather is a lottery - be prepared!
  9. Thanks for you ‘live’ reports, we were on this trip in June. Did you get a tray with kettle / tea and coffee making facilities? There is usually one in all the rooms - if it’s not there just ask your steward if you want one. Hope the weather is kind to you - it was for us.
  10. On Regal in June for 12 days - didn’t get anything 😥!
  11. The X99 is £6 each way - £12 for a day ticket. No change is given but you can use contactless.
  12. We were on Regal around the British Isles in June - black medallions for Elite and white for first timers. On the first sea day ‘white’ cruisers had an introductory talk by the CD and a ship’s tour. There were a LOT of whites!
  13. I would think there’s a good chance of teens being onboard. For most children in the UK they will still be on holiday from school until the end of Aug / beginning of Sept. Have you joined your roll call? You may find some more information there.
  14. The cab driver who took us into Belfast gave us a card for the company with a number to call when we were ready to be picked up. Also I imagine that Uber operates there.
  15. It was only £15 for up to 4 passengers to take a cab from the ship to the centre of the city. The return cab was on a meter and was just £7, again for up to 4. Better value and no need to queue!
  16. I think you’re correct with the date, we sailed on her in 2018 with our grandson.
  17. We were onboard at 11.15. Went to the Lido deck too to find a table in the sun. Cases arrived about 2.30 - now unpacked and having tea in the room.
  18. Rudi-Cruiser, I think you previously mentioned you have a UK port on your itinerary, I’m curious to know what the rules are for your dog getting off the ship.
  19. Thanks for that - I hate gluten free batter as it makes me feel nauseous. My mother had coeliac disease for 50 years (living until she was 97). We joked that she could go on Mastermind with her specialist subject being gluten-free products! We were on SoA last year and absolutely loved it. Sorry about your cat, it’s very sad to lose a pet. They make up a big part of many families.
  20. Thanks for taking us along on your cruise. We’ll be on SoD in Nov 2024! Just a quick question if you don’t mind - is the batter on the fish and chips gluten free for everyone? Thanks.
