My son is an only child and we do not want to leave him dealing with all our stuff either. We have been purging stuff for the last couple of years but have a long way to go. When we moved into this house, my mother in law also moved in with us. A lot of stuff was put in the attic to deal with later and still sits there over twenty years later. The plan was to clear that stuff out as we were clearing out my son's stuff when he bought his house. Well, housing prices has my son still here. At this rate, he might end up buying this house from us when his Dad retires in five years. Then, he might just get stuck with it all. π

Quantum of the Seas - Concierge Club Noise
reallyitsmema replied to TXAnn09's topic in Royal Caribbean International
It was an annoyance because we didn't want our clothing stained. We could clean our glasses and our ipads easily but we didn't want black spots on our clothing. We didn't look at 720 or 320 since we weren't sailing star class. We picked this cabin as it was the only sky loft left when we booked. -
Quantum of the Seas - Concierge Club Noise
reallyitsmema replied to TXAnn09's topic in Royal Caribbean International
We sailed in cabin 10722 on Quantum, a Sky Loft suite directly below the Concierge Lounge. We never heard any noise from above. We never heard any noise from any of the cabins near us. It was a very quiet cabin with great views for Alaska. Our only complaint was we had a lot of soot on the balcony. They did wipe it down every day but we could see it on our glasses or our ipads when we sat out there. -
Mom is hanging in there, thanks for asking. π She is still living on her own and doesn't want to move because she is comfortable. We will never get her closer until there is some crisis that forces the issue. I hope the weather in FL starts cooperating for you so you can get to the beach! We are supposed to be 60 degrees up here on Saturday. Strange winter!

Thanks for thinking of me. π Things just got really busy and I haven't been reading too much on CC. I have recently caught up on this thread but have been following the world cruise on other sites. People are posting amazing videos and pictures. We have a cruise coming up in May and are looking to book more if the prices cooperate. I appreciate you reaching out with all you have happening. You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers. I am glad you were able to get away and see your family in Amsterdam. π

My Mom got hers back about a half hour ago, thankfully. I told her to get her dinner together just in case it goes out again. She keeps her house ridiculously warm, so with the mild temperature today, she was okay. I couldnβt get her and bring her here because we are still out and my house us only 63 right now. If it was still out in the morning, I was going to take her out of there, likely to my sisters since she has a whole house generator. My DH is on his way home from work and we will go out to eat and charge devices. Our most recent estimated restoration time has come and gone and now status is βreassessing repairsβ. Time will tell, nothing we can do. Others have it much worse than us, at least we have no damage as far as I can tell. Just a little water that I have dealt with. π

No, still out. Over four hours now, so will have to decide what needs to be thrown away in the refrigerator. Could be worse, at least itβs not cold out. I went out to Dunkin and got coffee. Stopped at a local deli that makes homemade soup. Lots of roads closed due to downed trees and poles. A pole snapped in half two streets over with lots of lines down is likely the issue. Just need winds to calm so Eversource can safely go up in the bucket trucks that are waiting. I think their safety threshold is 35 mph.

Gelatin is used in many of the desserts instead of using a lot of cream to stabilize a mousse. It is also a lot cheaper. We have noticed that some of the desserts they had been putting gelatin in don't have it anymore, they have switched back to better ingredients. It is easy to tell when you put your fork through the dessert, if it just glides through, it is likely thickened with cream, but if you are cutting it and the structure stays, it is likely thickened with gelatin.

Stingray spotted on Cococay
reallyitsmema replied to bftjprc's topic in Royal Caribbean International
We have seen stingrays at South Beach many times. We have seen lemon sharks too. -
Bread was much better in the past. I miss the crusty, sour dough rolls. All the choices now are soft rolls, even the cheese ones that used to also have a crunchy crust. Coastal Kitchen still has a few more choices but not all the choices they used to have. Even the stollen at breakfast was rare to see on recent cruises and that used to be a staple.
